Agreed. From what I have read, most fentanyl is now made in China, and is smuggled to the US by sea or from Mexico. Mexican cartels also buy fentanyl raw ingredients/precursors from China, and prepare it for sale and smuggling via established routes.

China is not inclined to stop the production of fentanyl. It might be viewed as a tactic to weaken an adversary. The history of the opium trade in China and its devastating consequences are a major part of their policies towards Western countries. It is used to fan resentment of the West.

Blaming Canada for fentanyl is ridiculous. In addition to China, the problem is a combination of corruption and poverty in Mexico, which has no easy solutions. The falsehoods emanating from my government now are reminiscent of Goebbels. JMO

Yes, the dairy product situation has been a bone of contention for a while.

The US has subsidized dairy production for years, and a lot of it, especially cheeses, have gone to schools and food programs at no cost. This situation will probably vanish, as aid programs for domestic purposes will disappear, and farmers will be hurt by tariffs. The US probably won't have surpluses of many agricultural products with the way things are going. Neither Trump nor Canada will have any dairy product issue soon enough... JMO

Donald told congress that Biden is responsible for the high price of eggs (not the bird flu, as previously reported). I hope the USA doesn't need eggs from Canada!

This is what happened last time Donald thought tariffs were a good idea, but I'm sure everyone in the USA already knows how this worked out:

Trump again spreads baseless claims about Trudeau, Canada’s election.
In a social media post on Thursday, Trump said he believed Trudeau “is using the Tariff problem, which he has largely caused, in order to run again for Prime Minister”.

“So much fun to watch!” the US president wrote.

What? Donald thinks that there is some sort of election where Trudeau is running for Prime Minister? He doesn't know the first thing about Canada!

I hope that's a clear enough message that Donald wants to own Canada, and that he intends to violate everything Canadians know, value and trust.

I'm not, we have two run large electric company. We also have a nuclear power plant that produces energy for the state. We good. Virginia's pretty much self-sufficient. We also have a large windmill solar farm off the eastern shore of Virginia.

As a US citizen I plan to boycott anything coming from Canada or Mexico. Looking through my cabinets and my routine purchases, I don't see but one or two items that I have purchased in the last year. They were from Mexico, specialty food products.

I live on the east coast, fruit and vegetables are abundant even in winter months, our gas and oil prices are very low. We have more than enough lumber. There's actually a lumber company in my area that was purchased by Canadians. They only employ Canadians, rotating them in and out every 3 months and all the lumber is exported to Canada. All the Canadian workers have been extremely nice, so very polite and participate in many local activities. We've learned about their families, follow when they're returning. It's white oak, sort of a rare very strong oak.

I paid 2.50 for gas on Sunday, lowest in years.

I'm committed, we need to end drugs and illegal fentanyl from entering the US.

I don't believe we know how much is coming through the Canadian border. There are so many rural areas along the border that would be easy to slip through. Now that they Mexican border is much more secure, I believe more will try to come through Canada.

Last year alone, enough fentanyl came through to kill a million souls. I don't mind paying an extra 25%, even pay an extra 50% if we can stop the fentanyl from flowing into the United States.

Was sent in once for bringing back melatonin for my nephew because it wasn't for "my own personal use". Another time having gone over the border for lunch with a friend, had to know the actual number of American cigarettes that were smoked while on the US side. Just doing their job, but they are seriously strict.

So isn't it up to any country's own border patrols to keep illegal drugs and other contraband out of their own country?

There was a collapse in distribution of produce from the Okanagan last summer, and we were only getting American fruit. I hope that is quickly corrected and the BC fruit growers have a great year.

Yes it is up to each individual country to protect their own borders. I was kind of hoping that Canada would help out. We sent the majority of our resources to the Mexican border. I fear once they cannot through Mexico, they will try to Canada.

Yes I think border security does a great job. Entering Canada is very difficult. It's those rural areas where there are no border security checkpoints. I have a friend that lives almost right on the Canadian border. It's an absolutely breathtaking area, so peaceful. You can just walk right across the border, I've done it. I have pictures straddling the line. Mexican you can just walk right in you don't even need an ID.
