"Investigations into their disappearance have now confirmed both women were seen at the same bridge around 2.50pm on Monday, 6 January, 2025. CCTV shows Eliza and Henrietta spent five minutes at the footpath and the Victoria Bridge but did not engage with anyone else."

"After visiting the bridge, the sisters are then seen on CCTV making their way through the city centre, via the Union Square shopping centre, back to their flat in the Charlotte Street area of Aberdeen. There is nothing to indicate that Eliza or Henrietta left their flat again until shortly before they were last seen at the River Dee in the early hours."

Really wasn’t expecting this.

Police reveal final eerie text sent from missing sister’s phone at same time as last sighting
Police have revealed the final eerie text that was sent from one of the missing sisters’ phones at the same time as the last sighting of the pair.

A message was sent from Henrietta Huszti's mobile phone to their landlady at 2.12am on 7 January, indicating she and her sister Eliza would not be returning to their flat.

The text was sent from the area of Victoria Bridge, which was the place where the pair were last seen, with CCTV footage showing them there at the same time as the message was sent.

The phone was then disconnected from the network and has not been active since, said Police Scotland

Reports said there wasn't any obvious financial issues and that may be true but perhaps they were struggling a bit without being in debt. A lot of people send money back to their families, maybe they couldn't afford to do so and live their own lives how they wanted.

I'm surprised they didn't go home to Hungary for Xmas or New Year. It's the time of year you would make an effort to go and see family.

I'm in no way blaming their family, they are going through hell, merely offering suggestions.

The only thing I can think of is terminal illness of one of them maybe.

Heartbreaking :(

It was something big enough to cause two young sisters to commit a double suicide and that is terribly sad. The family clearly didn't know all that was going on in their minds.

As someone who has suffered from deep depression in the past, seeing the images of them scoping out the river 12 hours before is really painful.
Yes it is painful to see and if true and they did take their lives now knowing it wasn't by accident or a spontaneous action.
It would appear that it was well thought out.

If they have entered the water willingly I wonder how long they had been planning their exit. They may have withdrawn into themselves for some considerable time if they knew this was coming. Sometimes avoidance seems easier than putting on a mask in front of your loved ones :-(

I'd love to know what they did for those 5 minutes at the bridge, the day prior. Were they quietly looking out at the water, and perhaps deciding whether to jump from there or go down the path? Were they gesturing? Standing quietly and contemplating the future? Animated? Subdued? I also wonder what they did for those 12 hours in between? Home, and life as usual? Or something like a last meal? Preparing paperwork and sorting out their affairs? It's very sad all round.
My opinion and assumptions only.

The new update pretty much confirms what I thought all along - these sisters have intentionally entered the water on that night to complete suicide.

The landlady informing the police all makes sense now - after receiving a text in the early hours informing her they had left the flat - and then most belongings still being at flat would raise suspicions.

I just hope their bodies resurface soon so their family can lay them to rest.

Ladies I hope you’re at peace now and I hope your family can take some comfort in the fact you weren’t alone at the end - you had each other.

I remember years ago there was a very mysterious case in Glasgow of a mother and daughter who died in an apparent suicide pact in a hotel lobby. Was baffling but was discovered much much later they were caught up in an Internet blackmail scheme. The blackmailer went to jail and she died in prison.

I think the message they sent to their landlady is the clincher really, sending it just as they were entering the river path.

Speaking to their mom on the Saturday, taking leave from work on Monday, checking out the path on the Monday afternoon, then messaging the landlady to say they won't be back at the flat - it all adds up to one thing really.

So sad.

I wouldn't say I have any kind of expertise, but some people seem to say 'screw everything' and just do it, and others seem to have a to do list they tick off until the final moment. I think it's probably a reflection of the kind of person someone was in life.

The sisters seem to have had a list. They scoped location, they took leave from work, and they notified their landlady before they exited stage left from their lives.

I would love to be proven wrong and for them to turn up one day living under new identities, but I think it unlikely. I'm just hoping for the closure of at least one body for their family's sake.

To me, it seems the two actions they took before going missing are complete oppsosites.

Taking the annual leave suggests they didn’t want anyone to foil their plans, or be reported as missing quickly.

But then they text the landlady at 2 am to let them know they’re ending the tenancy, which obviously prompted the landlady to report them as missing as soon as she arrived at the flat.

Seems strange. Unless they were worried they wouldn’t get paid for their contracted hours this month, so took that annual leave to ensure the funds could be passed on to the family.

Both could be read as considerate actions. The workplace knows that they need to cover their employee's shifts and workload, and the landlady knows she needs to find new tenants.

The sisters would have known that by the time they were missed, it would be too late for any intervention.
