If Eliza ever worked at the boat club, maybe she knew how to get in, and tinkered with their cameras.

What's all this about? Has anyone else heard this?
A first for me, plus Verme's reporting.
Tips lines are filled with reports of seeing missing persons and of course this man who made it known he saw them yet because it's none of his business he didn't take a photo.

Fishy-fishy.

She worked in a cafe.
Was she/they starving and too polite to ask at work for help/food?
It was Henrietta who worked in the cafe. Eliza is the one said to have lost weight.

Thanks for the correction on the sisters.
They did have some kind of access to food.

Although it might be fishy, I would have expected there to have been a number of sightings/"sightings" before this.

If they were there for 10 years (this exact number has been all over), 6 of those years is a lot to move from a cleaning job to a cleaning job. I wonder what that change was about. I can’t imagine it was significantly better pay, maybe more consistency

He didn’t say what their cleaning jobs were there, I’ve been curious about it. Looks like he runs a contracted company. Wonder if they cleaned the boat club
Yes, my have been better/longer hours with a more regular income. Quite possible she was working as and when required. Agreed unlikely it was for better pay as such.

^ From that this part stood out to me the most and makes me think the theory about one of them being seriously ill could be right.
Also noted it appears they were regular smokers which might have caused one of them to get ill. Presumably the police would already have spoken to their doctor to check on any medical issues. Difficult to judge from one report but it does seem they were very private individuals and few knew them.

From the pictures released it didn't look like either sister was carrying much weight to start with. Saying that I'm conscious that most of the pictures seem to have been taken some time ago. The only ones we know to be recent are the CCTV ones which are not very clear. The article suggests that Eliza looked somewhat different to the photos we have seen. Still a little surprised any recent clearer images of the pair that might exist haven't been released.

In relation to the weight loss, the sisters do seem to be similar weight/ size. Admittedly hard to guage on CCTV images but possibly they were eating healthy diets and both lost weight. Also possible money was tight and ate quite frugally. Neither had well paid jobs and I imagine just monthly bills took a large chunk of their income. Rent, council tax, utility bills etc. What we don’t know is if they had another source of income. I think so many people in the UK would identify with the financial pressures just to keep on top of things these days. Very depressing how much it costs just to live . Massive increase in food bills too in recent times. Having said that, it is possible to be savvy and buy cheaper brands . The cost of living is quite shocking. I had an Uncle came over from USA to visit UK and he said very quickly he didn’t know how people in the UK managed to live.

"The family had never been to Scotland in ten years, and the girls had only been home twice, in 2019 and 2022."

Can't help but feel :(
I just hope they didn't feel completely isolated if they were facing some issues.

Yes and we only have a snapshot but the suggestion they pretty much kept themselves to themselves suggests they didn’t really have friends to perhaps confide in too.

But where did they go from there? And how: by boat? And with whom: a boat driver? And why not officially leave from a train/bus station at Costa Coffee for example?
Were they fleeing from brutal debt collectors? Speculation of course. An escape, where you leave everything behind, must have been worth it.

The Trip advisor reviews re the Costa Coffee are somewhat interesting as it doesn't always seem to be a nice workplace for working there, especially for years. MOO
When one of the staff is mentioned in a friendly way at all, I want to think, they meant the twin Henrietta/Heni.

We'll probably never know.

But the alternative (suicide) can also been seen as an escape.

So without evidence of criminality, whatever caused their disappearance - willingly leaving alive or suicide, it would have been worth it to them.

With the new information coming I can only assume Eliza was battling some sort of illness (mental/physical)?

I wondered about this earlier. Would their medical records be disclosed to the police? They are missing persons,so must be presumed to be alive.

I could be wrong but assume if one of them had a physical illness they would tell their family, because why not? And weight loss could be as simple as changing from the typical western diet to healthy "clean eating," which is trending nowadays. Obviously something was going on, though. JMO.

I feel like there might have been a lot they didn't tell them, so I wouldn't be surprised if they kept illness secret too.

I highly doubt that.

They didn't tell their family that they were giving up their flat and planning to disappear.
