The only quote I could find was of him offering his condolences and asking for forgiveness. They quoted him.
The only mention about the stolen fishing equipment was under the summary of Barnhill's statements.

FYI (all caught up now)Statement by homeowner's via their lawyer, Elizabeth Graddy
from: New video appears to show Ahmaud Arbery moments before his death
In a statement, the owners of the under-construction home say they have no relationship with the McMichaels, and would never have wanted what they call a "vigilante response."
"First, and most important, the English family -- the homeowners -- want Ahmaud Arbery's parents to know that they are very sorry for the loss of their son and they are praying for them," said the statement from Elizabeth Graddy, attorney for homeowner Larry English. "Second, it is crucial to understand that the English family -- the homeowners -- were not part of what the McMichaels did. The first accounts suggested a link between the McMichaels and the homeowners, but there is none. The English family had no relationship with the McMichaels and did not even know what had occurred until after Mr. Arbery's death was reported to them. After seeing Mr. Arbery's photo in news reports, Larry English did not even think Mr. Arbery was the person that appears in this video. Even if it had been, however, Mr. English would never have sought a vigilante response, much less one resulting in a tragic death."

Yeah, I had to go back and read it over again because they do make it sound like English made the statement about the stolen property.I tend to agree Ms Betsy. It was poorly written and moved from Barnhill's tripe into talking about L.E. and ended up stating he confirmed something he now says he didn't.
Thank you for this linked tweet
So English was aware (due to phone alerts ap) that someone was trespassing at night on his under construction property.
In addition the docs shown in the tweet state that TM was the person who reported at least this instance of trespass at night and that police then contacted the property owner L. English who stated so far he has noticed some trespassing incidents lately but found nothing stolen in them and so felt no need to report to police.
So it appears English was telling the truth when he told reporters he's never had anything stolen from his property and never made any police reports about trespassing. The Ms were the ones most concerned about the presence of AA in their neighborhood. Not the property owner himself.
This case has all the makings for a really explosive acquittal.
Only if there is jury nullification. IMO.
Charge: Felony murder.
Criteria: The death occurs during the commission of an " inherently dangerous felony." Intent does not matter, only that the death occurred during the commission of another felony.
Georgia Murder Laws - FindLaw
Charge: Aggravated assault. (the underlying felony).
Criteria: A person commits aggravated assault when he assaults with a deadly weapon, which when used offensively against another person is likely to or actually does cause serious bodily injury.
2010 Georgia Code :: TITLE 16 - CRIMES AND OFFENSES :: CHAPTER 5 - CRIMES AGAINST THE PERSON :: ARTICLE 2 - ASSAULT AND BATTERY :: § 16-5-21 - Aggravated assault
GA's legal definition of simple assault: A person (commits simple assault) when he commits an act which places another in reasonable apprehension of immediately receiving a violent injury.

1. Neither Junior or Senior witnessed Ahmaud's misdemeanor offense (if that) of entering English's construction site. Neither even claims that they did.
2. Senior saw Ahmaud RUN past, and in that split second, though Ahmaud didn't even match English's
description of/tapes of a TRESPASSER, called for Junior to grab a gun, armed himself, and immediately took off after Ahmaud in a truck.
Did Senior actually even yell at Ahmaud to stop, that they wanted to talk with him? In between or during those attempts to corner him with 2 trucks?
The video of Ahmaud's killing suggests otherwise. Nothing like that is said on the video. At about .18 in, what I hear is a man perhaps screaming "turning, turning" (as Ahmaud approached the truck), and more definitely, as Ahmaud runs to the right of the truck, "stop running, s-hithead."
So many etc.'s about how and why what Junior and Senior did does not meet any of the required legal grounds for making a citizen's arrest.
3. Without citizen's arrest as legal justification, their pursuit of Ahmaud meets the standard of assault; their trapping him on Holmes and confronting him with guns drawn meets the standard of aggravated assault, and the fact that Junior fired the shots that killed Ahmaud during that aggravated assault makes it felony murder. IMO.
And no, stand your ground doesn't apply here either.
As to whether it is common for helpers to show up early at a job site before anybody else and whether single home construction job sites see a lot of work on southern Sundays, I would say that both are well, possible, but not very likely, and could well be highly unlikely.
Well I bet they have solved any kind of trespassing or theft in that neighborhood now.@ChanleyCourtTV

There might be security footage of the nighttime person with the tats and dreads.Has anyone found the video released by WSAV showing him in the house up to 4 times at night?
That's him, but nothing was ever taken at any time. Was it?I just found it
That's exactly how I imagined the home to look like. I have looked around in dozens of houses under construction that looked like that. Lots of people are interested in how homes are built. I used to look around, trying to figure out which room was going to be the master bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, etc, and imagining what it would look like in the end.
Maybe I'm just lucky no-one saw me and chased me down with a gun.
To me it looks like he was looking around because he was curious. What did they think he was going to steal? A piece of plywood? A hammer? And then run off on foot?
