Did any of the rapes show signs of a break in (apart from the obvious presence of a rapist)?

Exactly! No they didn’t. Yet another pattern. A skilled burglar getting into properties with no signs of damage, on multiple occasions, isn’t exactly a particularly difficult dot to connect….

It very well maybe 3 that we know of. “ There are parallels between the cases of DM, HB and the disappearance of MM.”

IMO there are probably several other crimes he comitted that follow that pattern. CB bragging that he’d gotten into an apartment & performed a sex act in front of young females , has the hallmarks of a serial sexual offender skilled at getting in to apartments. Eerily similar to the 28 incidents of a lone male intruder. Coincidentally (big shock!) he just so happens to be a proven serial sexual offender with a history of burglary. The PJ solved 0% of those crimes. IMO CB may have been responsible for at least some but I fear the PJ will have gathered absolutely nothing that could help bring any of those victims justice. I think CB shared some of this absolute confidence in the PJ. CB knew the PJ would never catch him & CB was absolutely right.

This encountered from what I understand was before his trial for raping the old lady that he is in prison for. So I guess they let that one slide. And you are right - I have no "male victim" in the charges that were posted.

Do any of the German sleuthers have an idea on the level of information/reporting that becomes public during the course of the trial? For example - what the content of that days’ trial was?

I am assuming it’s a relatively private matter & I hope it will be. Although public interest is high I don’t think that means the public have the right to know, especially in the midst of the trial.

IMO there might be an evidential overlap & some of what they have may feature in regards to multiple victims, including MM. Information probably better kept private, especially to prevent adding to the trauma MM’s grieving family are already going through.

Thank you, Hygge. It appears that the coverage will be extensive. I’m guessing photographers won’t be able to take pictures inside the courtroom and I hope that’s the case. I think many of the witnesses statements will be upsetting to read, but I’m glad that the Braunschweig Prosecutors office, HCW and the BKA have all delivered and got these cases to trial. I’m concerned that the trials against CB will pull out unfounded and amplified scrutiny in the wrong directions and I hope ‘fighting the cause’ doesn’t feed in to that.

Most likely. IMO it’s a bit silly to pick & choose the crimes of a serial offender & then assume there’ll be no evidence overlap. Convictions in these cases would strengthen their MM case. But will there be a point where the issues HCW & the constant counter arguments are overtaken by the strength of the evidence. The bar will certainly be unusually high with these trials.

The indictment against Christian B is 102 pages long. The Braunschweig public prosecutor's office accuses the 46-year-old of three cases of serious rape and two cases of sexual abuse of children. According to the indictment, the crimes took place in Portugal between the end of December 2000 and June 2017. In the country where Maddie McCann disappeared from her hotel room in 2007.

The missing person case has been under investigation for years - so far without charges against Christian B. Christian B., who has also been convicted of child abuse, is currently serving a seven-year prison sentence in Lower Saxony - including for raping a 72-year-old US tourist in Portugal.

In the case, which will be heard from February, one disgusting detail follows the next. Witness statements essentially support the accusation, as senior public prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters confirmed in an interview with RTL. And: “There are a lot of handwritten notes from Christian B. These are a kind of notebook with some very personal content. These notebooks provide insights into the defendant’s mind,” the senior public prosecutor continues. “In the books you can find records and also self-painted pictures.”
And they are not for the faint of heart! According to RTL information, the books describe the defendant's fantasies - they are sexual fantasies. According to our information, this involves, among other things, the kidnapping of a woman and a child - then a rape is described. And not only that: self-painted pictures even show a child being raped.
The search for clues into Maddie McCann's disappearance is also continuing. Senior Public Prosecutor Wolters: “The investigations into the Maddie case are ongoing and are independent of the outcome of the upcoming trial.”

For example, the evaluation of the results of the reservoir search from last summer has not yet been completed. Following a tip from a British man who discovered a kind of shrine at the Arade reservoir in Portugal just a few months after the girl's disappearance, the Federal Criminal Police Office investigated the site and found new clues.
