Suggests to me that either he isn't party to this German evidence of murder, or he doesn't consider it to be evidence
It's pretty obvious though from the way he spoke in the JW trial that he has a lot of contact with OG. It isxalso obvious the German case seems to have fallen apart with not enough evidence to indict per HCW own words.

Is he effectively saying there is no evidence CB killed MM?.
The article from the BBC no longer contains the quoted extract but the Standard carries it.

Mr McCann said: “Madeleine’s been missing for 18 years, and the bottom line is, we still don’t know what’s happened to her.”
He said that there is “no evidence”, adding: “I don’t even mean ‘convincing’ evidence – there is no evidence to say she’s dead.
“Now we fully understand she may be dead, it may even be probable, but we don’t know that.”

Strange that those quotes have been removed from the BBC’s article?

Don’t the BBC usually put a note on their articles when they’ve been altered?

That's what I thought. The "quoted" was removed from the BBC article the same day it was published. Seems that the Standard might have created their story mainly from the original BBC article and it hasn't been edited to remove what GM was supposed to have said. I didn't hear GM say it in the interview.

Sky carry the quote as well.So it must have been said.

On the disappearance of his daughter, Mr McCann said: "Madeleine's been missing for 18 years, and the bottom line is, we still don't know what's happened to her."
He said that there was "no evidence", adding: "I don't even mean 'convincing' evidence - there is no evidence to say she's dead.
