GUILTY IA - Christopher Bagley, 31, Walker, Linn County, 14 Dec 2018 *arrest*

I have been following this also. Like others here I've picked up info through the family's facebook and such. But what's read there cannot be posted here. I feel so bad for this poor family; they seem so close and all are heart broken and just wanting answers. I don't think the wife is involved, however, I do wonder if the gal who picked him up isn't saying all that she knows. The family seems to think he was taken against his will and could be anywhere in the country. I wonder what leads them to think this. IMO..I think Chris is no longer alive, sadly :(:(
I agree with you somewhat, Hawkeye, but I’m really stuck on the fact that what the family is saying is different from what they’re doing. Now granted, I’ve never been in their shoes, but they are so vocal on FB regarding wanting vengeance yet they won’t address the real facts behind the case. For the moment, they have a platform and an audience to get their case more attention yet they just post threats and song lyrics. I mean, really, is that scaring the “bad guys” and making them look over their shoulder?

Why not put the truth out there? It’s a very powerful tool. Maybe when they’re honest with themselves they can be honest with others and get the pressure on this group which is what they need to get their answers. They just need to decide which is stronger: vengeance or justice?

Well said, I couldn’t agree more. It’s encouraging now to see locals working together to find answers, but it’s going to take some input from the family’s inner circle to get anywhere.

I think the case is considered sensitive which may be the reason as to why there is so little information given. In my opinion, his criminal history does have something to do with it. Not sure what we can or cannot discuss, but i have a feeling that he will never be found. :( hopefully I'm wrong.

The renter in that home has been pretty busy! The news reporter said that 2 Saturday’s ago, there was a SWAT raid at the home. Then a burned car last week and reports of a burglary there this Tuesday.

FBI was there this morning along with Emergency Mgmt Office, State Medical Examiner, Ambulance, and lots of police activity. I’m so glad they found him, though. May it bring the family closure and justice as well.

And according to the link below the body was buried so almost certainly foul play (unless OD but that would also be a criminal offense).

Family says buried body of Chris Bagley has been found, Sheriff releases new information

[...]

According to the department, no charges had been made as of early Friday night.

Colonel John Stuelke, with the department, said a credible tip led them back to search the home for a second time.

“We had a search warrant that was done Saturday, but we received information that a body may be buried on the property on Wednesday and then we began the search on Thursday,” he said.

Neighbors reported seeing investigators bring shovels and skid loaders onto the property. Stuelke confirmed it took digging to find the body.

He said search efforts were made difficult by the frozen ground conditions.

While the department stays tight-lipped on the connection that the home has to Badley, neighbors said it had been an active scene there throughout the week.

“Last Saturday, there was a whole entire swat team here that actually had to break the front door and pull some people out. Besides that, there’s pretty much been detectives on and off the whole time,” neighbor Eli Peden said.

Cedar Rapids police also confirm it investigated a report of a burglary at the Soutter Ave. home just days before on February 26. Officers were also sent there a month before that, on January 26, for a report of a burning truck.

I completely agree. They keep referring to "a suspicious death"...yet he was buried. The only thing I can think of is that he might have ODed. I can think of many cases where someone ODs and the person is dumped (or left abandoned) somewhere...but buried on a property? Are there other cases where this happened? I guess if they were all on meth they could've freaked and buried him right there (due to paranoia).

Does anyone have any other theories of why they aren't screaming foul play?

Perhaps there isn't an obvious COD, such as gunshot wound to the head. But I would like to know the condition of his body. How long has he been deceased? I'm sure we'll be hearing something pretty soon and there will be some people talking.

If this is drug / gang related (check Sheriff arrest records as well as previous articles posted) this makes sense.

If we assume Federal agencies are involved this might also suggest an interstate operation. Logistically Chicago is only 4 hours away via major artery I-80.

Also remember the family posted a $25K reward, which is a very interesting as most families in this area dont usually have that kind of cash available. JMO.

Good point. I find it interesting that, according to the inmate roster, the two who have been arrested both have federal holds. One would make sense, because it looks like the USMC is involved, but the other is labeled hold by United States Marshall.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says in a news release Tuesday that the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office positively identified the body as that of 31-year-old Christopher Bagley of Walker. Officials say he was stabbed to death.

Hmm...I wonder how long it will be before we see an arrest/arrests for murder? Hopefully soon. Total speculation on my part..wonder if the last place he was known to be seen in CR..the trailer..and the person arrested in Feb. and on a hold for Federal charges is the one with the tips. He's a prior felon, spent time in prison, and now facing new federal charges..stiffer charges..anxious to see who/what/where because my DH and I bought our first house 30 yrs ago a few blocks away from the house where the body was found. Sadly, times have changed.
