He's doing the very same punishment he would have been sentenced to.

It is not about his punishment.

It is about letting the LIE stand that he told on GMA. It is about him going on national tv and major press and claiming that 3 white men tried to lynch him.

That is a volatile and dangerous accusation that should not be ignored as if it was true. It needs to be corrected.

Way back when I compared these cases simply with regard to the outrage some of us felt about the hoax. "We" were accused of being racists because Jussie is black. I pointed out my outrage was exactly the same for the blond/blue-eyed/white hoaxer Sherri Papini. This is not a race issue. Some of us just REALLY do not like being made to feel like the wool can be pulled over our eyes. Maybe it's a character flaw on "our" parts. It really makes me mad!

Somebody sent the letter. Everything points to something Smollett and his acting buddies cooked up using fashion magazines. Whoever was involved in the letter should be arrested, except I suspect that the role of the FBI in this case is one of inquiry (I know, repeating myself). The alternative is that, after all this time, the FBI is too stupid to figure out where the letter came from.

Is that the kind of court ordered community service one would expect if looking st 18 felony charges?

People who have evidence proving their crimes are let off all the time. Protests have been happening regularly for almost 5 years. Its America, this is hardly new.

But in this particular case, the alleged victim went on a national press junket, detailing for the nation the horrors he experienced st the hands of 2 whites who tried to lynch him and who called him vile names and poured bleach on him

It was shocking and everyone gathered to support Jussie snd to revile the evil attackers in the MAGA hats

So when the evidence was found and it showed that it was not as he said at all but it was actually his 2 friends that pretended to attack him—-that is big news

He should not be able to pretend that he was telling the truth h anymore. That is just continuing the hate crime hoax

Exactly. Every once in a while it is important to look at the big picture. Smollett takes the world for a fool when he claims that he did nothing wrong.

People who get away with committing fraud, such as impersonation and inciting social unrest, need to be called out. Letting people like that get away with it means they will do it again, but bigger. He escalated from impersonating another driver (his brother) to impersonating the victim of a hate crime. What next? Impersonating an airline pilot?

It's like dealing with a social disease to interact with compulsive liars who don't even flinch when called on it. Smollett was called on it, and he walks around signing autographs like he is a celebrity.

He never was a celebrity, and inciting social unrest should not be a path to celebrity. Someone needs to shut down all interviews with him other than a "tell all" and "why I did it" anthology with his acting buddies.
