AZ Nancy Guthrie, 84, (mother of TODAY Show host Savannah Guthrie) missing - last seen in the Catalina foothills area on Jan 31, 2026

It wasn’t a rumor. Someone in a white vehicle went to the house today and put up signs and said they were hired in some capacity (perhaps misstated) by the family. It’s on video.
Wow!! I wonder if he could get in trouble for that?

But maybe they did recognize the person…
That's the part I've been thinking of since I heard it. Since an inside job has not been ruled out by LE officially (or has it? Correct me if I am wrong here). But the what if. What is someone DOES or SHOULD recognize the person, but says the don't? That would mean horrific things.

My feeling is that it may be related whether that was the same person as the perp on the porch or not.

Is it just me or did masked guy at the door walk and move so calmly almost reluctantly. Or so calmly, more indifferent like a hit man. Like im clocking in, dont really feel like doing this vs today. Almost like a sort of non character lazy-ish hit man.
I thought he was trying to walk quietly. If you watch it thinking he is walking carefully and lightly, it makes more sense. But definitely not scared or nervous. Calm like you said.

Looks like too many people on here are overly tired at this point and some continue to post gibberish. Pleading with the Mods to shutdown this feed overnight to let folks settle down for a few hours.
I actually agree. Fine with me would force me to sleep.

I agree. He's connected somehow.
Connected to the crime, or to have been in the area for his job? He was released. Those are 2 different things.

If they did recognize them, I think this investigation would look much different right now.

Seems that many posts are redundant or rehashing the same dead horse. While I understand everyone wants their points made here for eternity, it seems the mods may want to shut down for the evenings and let people cool down and slow their roll. In the spirit of healthy, thoughtful, contributive sleuthing, I feel like we are beating several dead horses over and over again which does nothing to make some of us want to spend hours catching up on the same topics from days ago and have anything of substance left to comment on. Just my opinion, I know others may feel differently. I realize this case has dragged out and sleuthers are frustrated, for good reason. Let’s just use some restraint in commenting unless comment furthers the discussion in a positive direction. We are all tired.

Respectfully, I haven’t seen any gibberish

Unless they are trying to find something to substantiate their only theory based on last known to see her alive + family, and they can't find it but keep trying b/c they don't know what other direction to go in.
True. But a specific search warrant would be needed. You can’t get a an open warrant. And they are not leaving empty handed.

They keep going back because where there is smoke, there is usually fire.

It could have been left there by someone (LE, press, YouTuber, etc.) days later and was placed on the rock to make it more visible to whoever left it behind.
Yes, just one more example of poor judgement in releasing the scene too soon. Now us sleuthers are losing our minds not to mention LE ( as in FBI) having to spend 100 man hours trying to track that down. Thanks…

BBM I don't think we would have seen that in the clips we have. Maybe he disabled/removed the camera before he tried that, but either way we don't have a complete end-to-end recording of his time at the front door, so we can't really say what he did or didn't try. JMO. (I don't really disagree with your overall conclusion, though.)
Does anyone know how many other entrances were to the house? I think she was carried out the front door, but the intruders entered a different door. I thought that the back door was found unlocked. MOO

I am wondering about drugs and alcohol use/addiction.

Yes the part that feels off is someone young, inexperienced, or mentally ill/ intellectually impaired who is acting in a way he thinks a criminal would behave, dress, etc. Maybe based on TV or movies. Not the real world. But it is very poorly done. This is what feels off to you,

Yes his comfort level was not from overtraining and confidence like you would see with an experienced criminal, or highly trained military etc. And they would understand the importance of the task ahead of them. The serious consequences for failure, etc.

So we are looking perhaps at a teen or young 20’s male. Someone whose frontal lobe is not yet developed completely so is reckless, poor judgement, cannot envision consequences or seriousness of behavior. Add a great deal of testosterone in a person who does not yet know how to handle that in socially appropriate ways. And drugs or alcohol.

Unfortunately, the risk assessment of this type of person is not good.

Interesting in terms of the gun.
Did you see the gun on this guy in the initial frames?
And then later he moves it?
Or did someone hand it to him do you think.

There are many ways to act threatening with a gun.
He chose to use a highly sexualized placement.
Which leaves me wondering if NG did any volunteer work or befriended a young man in the neighborhood who was challenged.

I did think about this, but the issue is that wallet is now forever tainted. It will be monitored and each withdrawal/transfer will be closely scrutinized for the rest of your life.

One would theoretically want to move everything out of the wallet as quickly as possible to somewhere as secure and anonymous as possible. That’s where the big issues come in.

When a new bitcoin wallet is made, it has no prior history. So there would be no rush to move funds out of it. Yes, that address will be watched like a hawk and is forever tainted. But still, that address is all they "know" about the perp.

The perp's next move would be to start swapping bitcoin to monero. That ends the chain of records right there, and would make blockchain analysts' lives very hard.

I think the FBI will be able to figure out each item and accessory the mask guy is wearing from head to toe including what I think are at least two hyper-realistic face masks (female top, male bottom, somehow being worn together) under the ski mask. But I don't know if they can easily enough track purchases for what are not rare items. But it's quite a bit of evidence still.

I think it's from a different time period. The FBI said it was of "the individual." So it must have been before and not after, because he disabled the camera before the crime.
Sorry if I'm being thick, but has this been analyzed on here? Trying to keep up. I think that has major relevance if the case - so he had the backpack/gun at one point in time on the front porch and then in another point in time did not? I can't even start to know why that's the case but it seems like it would be relevant. Did he leave the backpack and gun inside? In the getaway car? Why did he take them off?

I am beginning to think this was never a kidnapping. The person on camera was hired to clean up the crime scene and perhaps dispose of the body, and Nancy was murdered before his arrival. I won’t speculate on the murderer, though. I think we all have our thoughts, and that is enough. Still doesn’t explain the Apple Watch sync, if it happened earlier in the night, though. The kidnapping theory has just gotten weird and is going in too many insane directions.
I sort of thought that before, but I think that would be too risky for the original perp - bringing in a third party/more people which is risky if they are caught or if they give away the crime for a plea deal, etc. I mean it's still possible, it just doesn't seem smart

True. But, IMO there are cases where the perp was deemed mentally ill/psychotic, but still carried out a planned a targeted attack (like Holmes, the theater killer, for instance).
I also want to note that individuals with mental illnesses are much more likely to be victims of violent crime than perpetrators of violent crime.

How can LE rule out an inside job when they have no clue who took her??

Has anyone considered or noticed if NG had a roof-mounted satellite dish or terminal such as (Star Link or Hughesnet) for her Wi-Fi?
