Have we heard anymore about how long the chokehold lasted? 4 minutes? 15 minutes? Etc
I am sure he didn't wake up that day thinking I am off to go and kill someone on the subway. But he did. He chose to act in an excessive for the circumstances manner that caused someone to die. He did that. From the very little I've read in MSM of Penny's character, I don't believe he ever thought Neely deserved to die.
Not as far as I'm aware. Seems to be conflicting stories. I didn't see Penny's interview, was it mentioned on there does anybody know?Have we heard anymore about how long the chokehold lasted? 4 minutes? 15 minutes? Etc
I've watched the same interview and come away with a completely different impression. So, I'll just leave it at that.I am sure he didn't wake up that day thinking I am off to go and kill someone on the subway. But he did. He chose to act in an excessive for the circumstances manner that caused someone to die. He did that.
In the interview he gave, IMO, he has not shown true remorse for being responsible for Jordan's death. He is defiant. To me that means he thinks that maybe Neely did deserve to die and that's just how it is.
No, it wasn't mentioned. Penny didn't discuss anything related to the case on his attorney's advice. Not as far as I'm aware. Seems to be conflicting stories. I didn't see Penny's interview, was it mentioned on there does anybody know?

That’s a pretty early article. I swear I saw 4-5 minutes discussed here(?)
The journalist who filmed Neely's death himself said that the chokehold lasted 15 minutesI think that's a misrepresentation. I would wager the whole incident, from when Jordan entered the train to the end of the chokehold was 15 min. Not the actual chokehold itself.
I keep seeing this sentiment expressed. He isn't being tried in the court of public opinion, nor have charged been dropped. The only opinions that will matter are those of his jury pool. It's much too soon for that, or if his charges will be upgraded. I personally think that his media appearances are doing him no favors.I wonder what percentage of people nationally believe Penny will be convicted.
I personally believe that no jury in New York will convict him of these charges. I also see a chance he comes out of that trial as something of a hero in certain circles, and he’ll wind up on a speaker tour.
Can you share a link for that please? Much appreciated. The journalist who filmed Neely's death himself said that the chokehold lasted 15 minutes
I don’t think this is really relevant because there is no charge of a hate crime but since it has been allowed into the discussion I would like to point out Long Island where Penny lives and grew up is very different from Manhattan. His town of West Islip is 95.9% white. He is probably not a white supremacist because he is a born and bred New Yorker. I lived in Boston but visited NYC many times. It is so multicultural you can't survive as a white supremacist, or you have to be a total idiot not to see the cultures around you. Neely probably had some character traits that made him a good candidate for the Marines but now are interfering with his daily life as a regular citizen. He probably doesn't want to acknowledge that he is easily irritated to put it mildly. There might have been problems in his life, with girlfriends or whatever. As I have mentioned, specifically VA has great programs for people like him. I honestly think it is not attack on the race, but it is likely attack on the homelessness. ETA. I personally don't see anything wrong in his words about travel to Africa, he was interested in various cultures, that's all. But as tourists, we see little and follow the beaten paths. We don't see the poverty of the places we visit, either. We might be seriously afraid of seeing it.

I think he used threatening language to everyone within earshot. imo
The witness told The Post that Neely, 30, went on an explosive tirade just before his caught-on-camera death, telling people he was willing to “kill a motherf—er” and “[take] a bullet” and go to jail.
Neely’s erratic behavior put commuters on the F train subway car on edge as they hurtled between stations in Manhattan, the witness said.

Witness to Jordan Neely chokehold death calls Daniel Penny a ‘hero’ and offers to testify on his behalf
“The rhetoric from Mr. Neely was very frightening, it was very harsh,” the witness told The Post.nypost.com
Schizophrenia and friendliness are not mutually exclusive. He could have been friendly but imo he was experiencing a psychotic episode. While offering food and water is well meaning, it is nearly impossible to reason with someone going through this in my limited experience and humble opinion.
CNN reported a different amount of time than your link from "The Cut" whoever they are. I've never heard of them before.Man Who Killed Jordan Neely Says It ‘Had Nothing to Do With Race’
The journalist also said Jordan Neely's death reminded him of George Floyd.
In the video recorded by Vazquez, Neely and Penny are seen on the floor of a subway car with Penny’s arm wrapped around Neely’s neck. The two men were on the floor for about seven minutes, Vazquez said, adding he started recording about three or four minutes after the chokehold began.
Thank you! I knew I saw something besides 15 minutes.CNN reported a different amount of time than your link from "The Cut" whoever they are. I've never heard of them before.
