Have we heard anymore about how long the chokehold lasted? 4 minutes? 15 minutes? Etc

From the very little I've read in MSM of Penny's character, I don't believe he ever thought Neely deserved to die.
I am sure he didn't wake up that day thinking I am off to go and kill someone on the subway. But he did. He chose to act in an excessive for the circumstances manner that caused someone to die. He did that.

In the interview he gave, IMO, he has not shown true remorse for being responsible for Jordan's death. He is defiant. To me that means he thinks that maybe Neely did deserve to die and that's just how it is.

Not as far as I'm aware. Seems to be conflicting stories. I didn't see Penny's interview, was it mentioned on there does anybody know?

I've watched the same interview and come away with a completely different impression. So, I'll just leave it at that.

No, it wasn't mentioned. Penny didn't discuss anything related to the case on his attorney's advice.

I wonder what percentage of people nationally believe Penny will be convicted.
I personally believe that no jury in New York will convict him of these charges. I also see a chance he comes out of that trial as something of a hero in certain circles, and he’ll wind up on a speaker tour.

I think that's a misrepresentation. I would wager the whole incident, from when Jordan entered the train to the end of the chokehold was 15 min. Not the actual chokehold itself.
The journalist who filmed Neely's death himself said that the chokehold lasted 15 minutes

I keep seeing this sentiment expressed. He isn't being tried in the court of public opinion, nor have charged been dropped. The only opinions that will matter are those of his jury pool. It's much too soon for that, or if his charges will be upgraded. I personally think that his media appearances are doing him no favors.

Has anybody got a close up of the tatts, please? I just want to check them off databases?

Can you share a link for that please? Much appreciated.

He is probably not a white supremacist because he is a born and bred New Yorker. I lived in Boston but visited NYC many times. It is so multicultural you can't survive as a white supremacist, or you have to be a total idiot not to see the cultures around you. Neely probably had some character traits that made him a good candidate for the Marines but now are interfering with his daily life as a regular citizen. He probably doesn't want to acknowledge that he is easily irritated to put it mildly. There might have been problems in his life, with girlfriends or whatever. As I have mentioned, specifically VA has great programs for people like him. I honestly think it is not attack on the race, but it is likely attack on the homelessness. ETA. I personally don't see anything wrong in his words about travel to Africa, he was interested in various cultures, that's all. But as tourists, we see little and follow the beaten paths. We don't see the poverty of the places we visit, either. We might be seriously afraid of seeing it.
I don’t think this is really relevant because there is no charge of a hate crime but since it has been allowed into the discussion I would like to point out Long Island where Penny lives and grew up is very different from Manhattan. His town of West Islip is 95.9% white.
A quick google search of “Long Island white supremacy” will bring up many links of the demographics since it’s founding and the historical racism continuing into the present with the Proud Boys.
Long Island is literally in the top 10 most segregated communities in the country.

I think he used threatening language to everyone within earshot. imo

The witness told The Post that Neely, 30, went on an explosive tirade just before his caught-on-camera death, telling people he was willing to “kill a motherf—er” and “[take] a bullet” and go to jail.

Neely’s erratic behavior put commuters on the F train subway car on edge as they hurtled between stations in Manhattan, the witness said.

Schizophrenia and friendliness are not mutually exclusive. He could have been friendly but imo he was experiencing a psychotic episode. While offering food and water is well meaning, it is nearly impossible to reason with someone going through this in my limited experience and humble opinion.

Neely did not threaten anyone directly was my point.

He didn't say I'm going to kill you or you. A motherf-er. A intangible.

He was not addressing any individual directly or inciting others to do so.

Do you know why he was saying those things?

He said because he was hungry and thirsty that's why he wanted to go to jail.

Offer a starving, thirsty person food and water if you have it. Toss it on a bench and leave but do the right thing.

Why try to reason with someone who is sick and inconsolable?

all imo

Man Who Killed Jordan Neely Says It ‘Had Nothing to Do With Race’

The journalist also said Jordan Neely's death reminded him of George Floyd.
CNN reported a different amount of time than your link from "The Cut" whoever they are. I've never heard of them before.

In the video recorded by Vazquez, Neely and Penny are seen on the floor of a subway car with Penny’s arm wrapped around Neely’s neck. The two men were on the floor for about seven minutes, Vazquez said, adding he started recording about three or four minutes after the chokehold began.

I'm not religious but I do have a passing acquaintance with the bible. If my memory serves me well didn't Samson make a lot of bad decisions? He wasn't supposed to drink wine or eat anything from the vine yet when he was traveling with his parents he took a slightly different route so he could chow down on some grapes. That was a big no no since he broke the rules that tied his strength to the length of his hair. That's when the lion attacked him. He dodged a bullet then and probably felt invincible.

A lot of the medieval art work I've seen that embodies the encounter, shows Samson with the lion in a chokehold. I don't know if that's just a coincidence. Samson had a fairly interesting life mostly because he continued to fall in love with Philistine women which were supposed to be his mortal enemies. And even though the next woman he fell in love with (also a Philistine) cut off his hair he still had enough gas in the tank to bring down the temple. He still died though. I don't know what the moral of the story is for Daniel Perry unless he just cherry picked an image of something that made him feel either a) righteous b) cool or c) attracted cool chicks who his mom wouldn't like.

@RANCH The Cut is one of New York Magazine’s sub-sites, and is copy-edited. Hope that helps.
