Luigi Mangione, the 27-year-old accused of fatally shooting UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last December in New York City, is expected to appear in court Monday in Manhattan.

Mangione’s attorneys are expected to argue that some key evidence against him, including pages from Mangione’s notebook, should not be allowed at trial.

MANHATTAN — Luigi Mangione’s suppression hearings kick off this morning.

The defense will argue against the admission of recovered evidence. Along the way, bodycam footage and cop testimony should give us a deeper look into Mangione’s arrest.

Will they have cameras in the courtroom?

We're in the courtroom waiting for things to get started. Around 9 rows of press, 2 rows of public in here right now.

ICYMI, here's what to expect over these next few days:

MANHATTAN (CN) — Luigi Mangione is due back in court on Monday for a trio of evidence suppression hearings that could stretch deep into the week.

The 27-year-old murder suspect last appeared in September, when New York Supreme Court Justice Gregory Carro dismissed terrorism charges against him that stemmed from the Dec. 4, 2024, murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. Unlike that hearing, which clocked in at under an hour, these upcoming ones will prompt testimony from numerous witnesses and last several days.

Mangione is also facing federal charges for Thompson’s murder. But because the government is seeking the death penalty in that case, the federal trial is likely several years away. Meanwhile, Mangione’s state-level murder charges are expected to go to a jury next year.

*I lied -- there's 4 rows of public.

10:45 - Luigi Mangione just sat at the defense table wearing a gray suit/pants with a red and white patterned shirt. A court officer uncuffed his hands before he sat down. Can't immediately see if his feet are shackled.

^ A few photojournalists were permitted to snap pictures of Mangione and his team in court just now, so you'll be able to see for yourself.

McLaughlin is testifying about the security cam screenshots the NYPD posted on December 4. He's just describing what they are so prosecutors can get them into evidence right now.

Photos like these coming up:

McLaughlin testifies about when the video of the shooting was published.

KFA: "We’re gonna object to them playing a video from the shooting. It has absolutely nothing to do with this hearing."

Objection overruled and prosecutors play a few frames from the video.

Luigi Mangione appears in court this morning. Mangione's defense attorneys seek to throw out evidence authorities collected at the time of his arrest, including his backpack and notebook that contained incriminating details.

He looks good considering his plight.

KFA cross examines McLaughlin. Asks him of the hundreds of shootings in NYC how many suspects the NYPD circulates photos of.

"Isn't it only true that you did it in this case because of who he allegedly shot?"

Prosecutors object -- sustained.

Witness 2: Bernard Pyles

This is the guy who runs the security system used by the McDonald's in Altoona where Mangione was arrested.

"We were told that there was an arrest made and they needed that footage for the police."

Pyles is walking the court through security footage of Mangione traversing the McDonald's before his arrest.

We're seeing LM order at the counter, grab his food, walk into the bathroom, and sit at the table where cops eventually approach him.

At the McDonald's, Mangione sat down at 9:03, per the footage timestamp. He was approached by cops at 9:28.While all this footage is playing, Mangione is leaned back in his chair intently watching on the courtroom monitors.

On cross, we see the two initial Altoona cops approach Mangione. Over the next 13 minutes, the restaurant is filled with officers.Defense lawyer Jacob Kaplan asks Pyles to tally them."Hard to count now," he says as the eighth cop enters.

Witness 3: Emily States (Blair County 911 operator)She says the 911 call took place at 9:14 -- 11 minutes after Mangione sat down to eat at McDonald's. We hear the 911 call audio for the first time...

911 call from McDonald's manager:"I have a customer here that some other customers were suspicious of. That he looks like the CEO shooter in New York. And they're just really upset and come to me and I’m like, I can’t approach him."

More audio snippets:"He’s in the back of our lobby by the bathroom. I believe he’s wearing … a black … jacket with a medical mask and a tan khaki colored beanie.""The only thing you can see is the eyebrows."

The McDonald's manager is remarkably calm throughout the call, almost apologetic that she's calling 911."I tried to call the nonemergency number," she said. She even took orders while on the phone with 911, yelling to a coworker: "More bagels? One of them is no butter!"

That manager needs a big raise. Talk about multi-tasking.
