Does anyone know for sure what caused the original back injury? He hurt it again surfing later. But, what happened to cause the original injury? Why has that been skipped in all of his writings and his friend's accounts of his past?
I'm not sure I'm buying the spinal surgery story. Did he really go through that (without family assisting him with recovery, etc?) or did he make it up as an excuse to disappear, to not date, to hate insurance companies?

jmo

p.s. A shout out to people who suffer back pain. My questioning the perp's experience in no way is related to yours. Hope nobody feels put on the defensive - I'm focusing on LM specifically, not back pain in general.

The confidence and brashness behind some people online is dangerous, unsubstantiated, and serves nothing but to keep online-addicted individuals engaged with a universe that does not exist.

I have a simple question for all of those who don’t believe the arrested is the perpetrator. Why are they so desperate to hold on to this mystery; what does it mean to them for this to remain unsolved, or for this to be a conspiracy?

Because the evidence here is overwhelming. All of the defining features of the perpetrator match the arrested (e.g., skin-tone, facial hair, age, pronounced eyebrows, etc.). This person was arrested on a cross-state bus, which we know the perpetrator utilized. This person was caught with a weapon that, in virtual certainty, matches the weapon used by the perpetrator. This person was caught with multiple fake ID’s. This person has a history of posting online with sentiments matching the presumed motive of the killer.

Why the outrageous theories? Is it fear of boredom because this case is solved? Is it a need to feel smarter than others, whom are “blinded” by the mainstream media? Why do they choose to believe they know something no one else doesn’t or see something no else does? Like a unibrow?

This seems about as obvious and clear as daylight.

MOO.

There is a thin line between brilliance and madness.

Given his superior intelligence, his voracious interest in reading and in philosophical and societal subjects, the future of AI and its implications, while dealing with the constant banality of physical pain, I think he found himself on that thin line.

The one thing I never understood was how NYC LE connected the Starbucks videos, the crime scene videos and the hostel videos.... though I am not seriously questioning that LM is the person. Is there so much video that they have him all throughout his days?

Can someone explain the last charge, which I've circled in pink? I'm not understanding it.

TIA.

It is a weapons charge likely relating to the silencer.

PL 265.02(2): Such person possesses any explosive or incendiary bomb, bombshell,
firearm silencer, machine-gun or any other firearm or weapon simulating
a machine-gun and which is adaptable for such use; or

I agree up to the point where you opine that his parents failed. There are many parents who, while not perfect, did their best to raise a child into a responsible adult, and their child did not respond to their guidance. This is on LM, not his parents. MOO
Agree. He's 26 year-old educated adult. He committed the murder on his own. He is not a child and his parents are not responsible. jmo

I'm suprised that nobody on the bus thought it was him with those eye brows. But a stop at McDonalds and 2 people see it? IMO
I agree. Eye brows, mask, black clothes. riding on Greyhound , paying cash for the meal and he was reported as eating at McDonald’s in NYC. Was he wearing the same puffer coat? We know he is smart; this doesn’t make sense, I wonder if he has been sleeping. He looks rough.

Why do they think he posted that asinine post telling Japan how to fix its birth rate from Japan?

I was just talking to a friend about how incredibly simplistic that post is. I really do not like this arrogant guy. I'm not going to quote bc inappropriate but read the article for his deep thoughts.
On the other hand, he was making the honest observation that the modern *urban* Japanese life/culture is not conducive to increasing birth rates. That seems to be a fair observation. It is a very very different way of life. His specific comments seem to lament the commercial sexualization of young women for the entertainment of men. Seems kind of sweet & protective to me. He easily *could* have gone there and become a 🤬🤬🤬🤬 addict instead but he didn't.

Did you read the post or even the excerpt? It's very much white kid goes to Japan once. We see how well he did fixing America's problems.

He purportedly said in his manifesto, “these parasites had it coming” and “I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done.”

That’s cold, but he seems to be feeling it now.

He was supposedly shaking when police asked him if he had been in New York.

A CNN reporter said he looked “visibly distressed” in court.

And I didn’t realize it until I was going back over some posts I missed, but it looks to me like he peed himself.

It remains to be seen to what extent "enabling" was a part of his parenting. The NC drunk driving young woman who killed the just married bride was very clearly enabled by her parents. Her father's recorded jailhouse phone conversations were very disturbing. And I'm saying this as a former juvenile justice worker. The drunk driving killer was painfully atrocious in her attitude but then the father stepped up and showed exactly how she had developed into a criminally entitled young adult.

The picture emerging for me is that of a very smart, very privileged young man who experienced some kind of traumatic medical event (a back injury) roughly 18 months ago. Based on what we’ve heard from friends and coworkers this aligns with what appears to be a marked personality change, job loss, and most especially a self-isolation that accelerated the closer we get to the date of the murder (probably because he was obsessively planning). He likely blames UHC for further upending his life in some way (a denied claim?); this was his new purpose, his revenge.
His parents are very weathy. I find it difficult to believe that they would let him suffer because a claim was denied. They had the means to get him whatever surgery he needed, IMO. Unless of course they have written him off in some way.

If I were his parents I'd really have to reevaluate my life I think. Massive fail.

Completely disagree.

His parents also raised his sister, who the news has said is a top doctor.

LM himself seemed to be well-accomplished and personable throughout his college years, well past the time his parents were responsible for him.

JMO

How about we wait and see if he had a job? Running around NYC for 10 days and the shooting someone doesn't sound like a job to me. So if it's true that he had 10 grand in cash when apprehended where'd he get that money? His family no culpability? Well let's hope not. Where'd he get that 3d printer to make that gun and silencer? Especially if he didn't have a job?

No he sounds like an evil rich spoiled little grandmas boy to me. Totally thoroughly enabled by someone other than himself.

My opinion.

It's possible the people on the bus at the time just didn't follow the news. The elderly man in the McDonalds who spotted him, may be a person who closely follows the news.

I've talked to people here whether people I know who are reasonably educated, or the clerk at the supermarket check out and such, and 3/4 know nothing about it.
Most don't know Syria has fallen either, nor other major news.

Just for the record & something to consider: urinating like this is often a reflex to extreme frightened or anxiety. Eastern medicine has a lot to say about this. I wouldn't be surprised if dread overcame him in a moment he wasn't expecting. It also could be le didnt allow him a bathroom break in time. I hope that wasn't intentional.
