Given that the shooter was on the phone just prior to the shooting, it was postulated that a watcher/accomplice might have been involved. Someone who informed the shooter that Thompson was on his way.
While I am in the camp that BT may have had eyes on him prior to even exiting his hotel room and making his way to the conference.

What if the shooter was pretending to be on the phone since, in the video, he has someone walking so close to him?

Plus, the phone was dropped in the alley and recovered so maybe the shooter knew it would recovered and he was most likely on security cameras 'using' it and was hoping that police would be thrown off his scent by trying to track down and unlock the phone giving him time to get away?

I'm just spit balling here.

What's your reasoning for believing this to be the weapon used?
it looks pretty different from other weapons no weapon looks like that i mean the suppressor is long and is to big

All I noticed from the Starbucks' photo that his nose appeared to be somewhat large, but I didn't know if it was just the camera angle. Also hands appeared male to me. Fair skinned.

Don't know if that's him in the hostel photo, but bushy brows, long chin, appears ethnic ~ leaning toward Mediterranean. But he could be anything. Could just be a random white guy.

Absolutely. All Mediterranean is highly probable. Some groups I'd rule out because of his rather large, high-bridged nose. And, he is cute but the face has angles, all the softness comes only from age and will soon disappear. I'd say, a kid from Brooklyn but maybe he is not that local.

P.S. on the photo, it looks like he has mild freckles? It comes often with certain ethnic mixes, JMO.

This was no professional hit man. He shot his leg for God's sake. The individual may be good with guns, but is not a professional.

I truly believe there had to be others involved to let the shooter know of Brian's movements.

And the murder could be for other reasons and just made to look like it's about insurance.

JMO MOO AND ALL THAT JAZZ
He may have shot him in the leg to incapacitate him first, in order to get a clear shot of his chest while Thompson was on the ground.

and when it jammed it got unjammed so easy because its a WW2 gun other guns when they jam they tend to have more difficult time unjamming the gun

Professional or not, shooting with pedestrians and drivers around and hitting only the target is a darn good shooter to me.

Watch video above in #206
It shows the gun used, it’s now confirmed by LE,
Video shows it being used. Don’t think it jammed …

I've been thinking that's it's entirely possible UHC holds this particular conference at the same venue in NY every year. That happens a lot with conferences such as these.
They probably do. Makes it easy.

Don't think it jammed because in the video above you have to manually eject the fired round.

If they figure out the shooter's name, is there any reason why they might not disclose it while he's still at large?

He ejected 3 unfired rounds though, in addition to 3 fired casings.

Yup. Could this be related to a state actor? Essentially a terror attack used to sew discord in America. Who knows... we'll just have to wait and see what turns up.

Dumb question: If they figure out the shooter's name, is there any reason why they might not disclose it while he's still at large?
They often do not disclose before arrest in high profile cases.

<snipped & BBM>
Police are investigating whether the suspect paid cash and used a fake ID to rent a room at an Upper West Side hostel, according to two law enforcement officials briefed on the investigation.
Yes. This is likely why he chose a hostel—- no credit card required.
