and when it jammed it got unjammed so easy because its a WW2 gun other guns when they jam they tend to have more difficult time unjamming the gun
The gun isn’t from WWII. They said it’s a new gun based on the same design.

A foreign mercenary = someone fresh off the boat so to speak. That didn’t grow up here.
But why would someone 'fresh off the boat' shoot an unknown CEO of a Healthcare Insurance company?!

You mean, they've come here for that specific reason?

A fly in, fly out hitman? Employed by someone else?

John Miller on CNN:

If you work with him, if he's your cousin or friend, you're going to recognize him from these images.

Trying to send a message with these words on the bullets. He went to a lot of trouble to do that, which means he's trying to tell us something.

They have a print off the phone they found, but aren't entirely certain the phone belonged to the gunman. That print would obviously help once they identify a suspect.

Talking about the backpack switch (grey vs black backpack). Appears he went into park wearing gray backpack and came out with no backpack. Got a mobile field force to grid search yesterday looking for that backpack (dumpsters, garbage). Someone in Central Park may have picked it up.

Out of curiousity to see pictures of the rest of the UH C Suite, I went to the website to see, but they have taken down all the photos of the executives and replaced with a statement about the tragedy.

I wonder if they are concerned that other people are in danger?

I found the CFO's picture and I wonder if he was there at the conference also? Which hotel did he stay in?

And there are two other people in addition to the CEO named in the insider trading/DOJ suit.

His only hope I think is that in person he looks nothing like the mask-less photo that’s currently gone viral around the world. That was his one truly catastrophic mistake. Unless he altered his appearance he’s doomed, no matter where he ran off to

<modsnip - quoted post was removed>
It’s in the articles posted here. The gun is not actually from that time period. It’s a modern gun that he just bought at a store.

Exactly. A hired hitman. May have been already here for some time (say a year or two) or flown in for this purpose. But not someone who grew up here.

Likely not connected, but I searched for similar announcements from this account and they seem to be exceedingly rare.

Different personality. Dzokhar was somewhat avoidant and dependent.

But I agree. Yesterday I typed something and didn't post it. The nasal bridge and the splay of eyebrows didn't look Russian to me. He looked like a mix - someone European + Turkish, for example. But for all I know, he can be just Italian. Or whatever.
To me he looks like Justin Baldoni, who i know from ‘Jane the virgin’. Justin is a mix of jewish & Italian. He looks European to me (i’m European myself), more Italian or from around there.

looks like a women to me
I can see both. I don't know of that dark area near the eye is an eyebrow, but if it is, then it seems pretty bushy to me, not something typical of a woman, but could be. I think this nose is very distinct and that smile is as well as the chin being very pointy at least from this angle. Someone surely will recognize this person from these features. Even the fit of the jacket is odd.. maybe there is a thick layer of clothing under the jacket or even a bullet proof vest? I think the face is of someone very tiny, but the jacket give the impression of someone with some meat on their bones.

It could be a feminine male or even possibly someone born a male, but identifies as female now. I am not sure how to word that and I mean not disrespect if this is not the correct way to describe this.

The two new photos:

The person is unmasked inside a hostel on the Upper West Side in New York City.
CNN has geolocated the two images to the hostel’s location.

No doubt police have talked to the reception person there, or whomever this suspect was conversing with. There may be more info on him, accent, physical features, whatever else.
Strange the roommates said he never took off his mask, but here he did, in front of cameras.
Don’t you think it strange that a murderer is actually sharing a room with people who could identify him? Who does that?

Right, I agree. That and the stop for a coffee tells me he is far far from here, probably another country by now. Did not care who saw him where so much. Why, how and for what reason, I can't even guess. MOO

There has never been a case like this where there has been a "foreign mercenary" involved. That's movie stuff.

I know lots of people around this guy's age that have no social media presence. He might have one though, and we just don't know yet. Those images were only released a few hours ago.
I agree. I don't think this guy is a foreign mercenary!

"Foreign" often seems to enter the equation when a criminal isn't apprehended etc.

Not an assassin.

Good point.

As a side note, upper middle class status not only facilitates good dental care, but good educations as well.

Whether he was using "Depose" in the legal sense or the political sense ("remove / over throw from power"), it is not a word that is in every day use.
I grew up working class and my teeth just so happened to grow in perfectly straight! I was lucky that way!

i don't recall the source, but read somewhere that he was masked most (if not the entire?) time he was in his room. which is also strange.

Not an assassin.
Lol, exactly. An assassin isn’t using marked bullets, stopping at Starbucks, and sharing a room with others.

'Deny, Defend, Depose': Did a 2010 Insurance Book Inspire the Fatal Shooting of Brian Thompson?

Brian Thompson Killer

Latest photo released by the NYPD of the alleged hitman (Screenshot: @NYPDnews on X)

Cryptic words found on bullet casings at the scene of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson's assassination have baffled investigators. The phrases "deny," "defend," and "depose" etched onto the casings bear a striking resemblance to themes outlined in Jay M. Feinman's 2010 book Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies Don't Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It.

This unsettling connection has raised questions about whether the book's content could have inspired the motive behind this shocking crime, as reported by NPR.

This book 14 years ago????
