The NYPD said they searched a Long Island Rail Road train Wednesday for Brian Thompson's accused assassin after receiving a Crime Stoppers tip — and are urging the public to keep tips coming even though the LIRR one turned out to be a dead end.

"The train stopped. They searched the train and nothing was found," a police spokesperson said.

He doesn't look an Indian mix. North Iranian, Azeri, all Caucasus mountains, Turkish, maybe even Middle Eastern + European. Indian, very unlikely. High-bridged, big nose and the splay of eyebrows are telling. Could be local Greek or Italian, too. Cute face. I think he is local in that: no discerning accent, nothing standing out.
I’m thinking now maybe Chechnyan or Uzbek.

The nose though doesn’t quite look it.

At least we seem to be past yesterday’s theory of a prosthetic nose, which I didn’t think was accurate.

If the burner phone does belong to the suspect then that's the answer in terms of him working with someone else. Don't need a burner phone to communicate with yourself.

LE haven't released the location of where he made that phone call (unlike all other pieces of CCTV footage). <modsnip - sleuthing a random person>
It appears to be at the iPark at 133 W 54th St. It's the only place I could immediately find that had a sidewalk separating the street and a parking lot (which appears on the right side of the video). There's also a video camera positioned on the column that separates the lot from the garage (per Google Street View). The street markings look correct.

I wonder how long it will take them to run the DNA from his water bottle?

There will be a lot of false leads before they get the real tip that leads them to him. I am surprised no one who knew him even slightly from before all this has come forward yet. Can’t expect his dear ones to give him away but no acquaintances from over the years?

CNN: Police have received a number of tips since the release of those images.

John Miller: May go from far away to very close now that they have a face. History has shown us that when you crowdsource it generally speeds the process up.

Two words, not 3 as originally reported on those rounds.

"Delay, Depose"

Miller thinks they are working off a shortlist of suspects right now.

Wanting these words to be found is rare but not unprecedented. See it with serial killers.

"Are these clues the actual motive...or are they trying to disguise it as a work related killing? " They have to keep an open mind.

So delay and depose makes me wonder if he was deposed or was delaying being disposed in this case where he is accused of insider trading. Maybe someone lost a lot of money on that and had reason to harm him.

If he used fake ID to check into hostel and they take copies of the IDs LE would easily be able to discern the ID is fake. MOO

I can't get past his smiling photo. that smile seems so genuine and warm. Not what I envisioned for a cold hired assassin or unhinged loved one of an insured person.

It appears he left the id behind, makes sense it’s fake.

As others mentioned different backpacks.

Additionally, different flooring, so photos taken at different locations/time.

Odd duck post, but I think all leads will go close to home. Reminds me of the Siever case, but this case involves a male victim and different murder weapon but the prize was a life insurance policy in the past and present case. JMO

"Investigators are examining the possibility that a cell phone left near the scene of the shooting did belong to the gunman and was not a decoy or a so-called burner phone, according to a person with knowledge of the investigation. The police have not yet gained access to the device."
This is really good news!! I just hope that he's captured alive and doesn't unalive himself.

Or maybe just your average garden-variety American blend?

On iPhone, you share location with only those you invite to share with.
Yes, but this can be abused. If someone gains access to the phone, they can go the contact info of pretty much anyone in the phone and "share location." Domestic abusers do this all the time, and often the victim has no idea. This could probably be done remotely by a hacker, too.

I would think someone in charge of a gigantic corporation would be advised to keep their phone much more secure than your everyday DV survivor due to the huge hacking risk for people in such positions, but who knows.
