I agree, but people see different things than I and it’s interesting. That’s why we’re all here discussing it, because we all have different takes.

Faster? What is interesting is so much is being said about other things, but no one is really talking about the bike and where it was procured.

I have tried really hard to determine the type of bike and can’t find it. I’ve made screen caps and google searches, enhanced the images and searched, pored over Reddit threads on commuting/biking/etc trying to determine the make/model/weight of battery and the range and I’ve come up empty.
I did this because the made the (what now seems kind of loony) announcement that the perp was on a Citibike (big, white, obviously branded, etc)… but I’m still working on figuring out the kind of bike. Super curious

If I ever wanted to get out of New York, unnoticed, unseen, not stopped, with a backpack speeding like a bat out of hell weaving in and out of traffic???? This is what I would do to become a part of the landscape. A person running on foot is noteworthy/noticable but a bike weaving in and out of traffic in New York is expected.

I was in the park last weekend and exited at 65th.

I suppose it doesn't matter, but I will likely mosey around and try to find the spot where he left the backpack.

I rarely go that far south in the park. Seems he didn't fling it while riding his bike. Stopped and walked into the park a bit it seems. JMO.

Seems to me a tacit admission that they have the name:

Oh, I don't know......the USA has had more than it's fair share of assassinations: Martin Luther King, JFK, Robert F. Kennedy, John Lennon, Ronald Reagan (attempted) to think of a few just off the top of my head......

The definition of assassinate is the surprise killing of a important person for political or religious reasons.

USA has a lot of mass shootings of innocent regular people tied to dubious political 'reasons.' See school shootings, mass shootings at events or stores by, typically, disgruntled young 'men' with questionable manifestos.

Targeting important people to kill for political reasons is much less common. This is also a political reason that many, many people sympathize with.

That's what I asked my husband when I saw the two photos from the Hostel. S/he looks female in one and male in the other. My husband says that it is definitely a male (and he is always right - according to him!) I even think that the guy at Starbucks might be different than the guy/girl at the Hostel (and so did one of the guys on CNN). Now, that I saw Timothee Chalamet on ESPN picking the college teams, I agree with those posters who says the suspect (at the Hostel) looks him. Timothee is 28 years old. So, I am guessing the suspect around the same age.

eta: Both my husband and I think the Missy Bevers' killer is female.

I don't think a person who realized the connection would dump the backpack back in central park, near where the suspect was. Unless they were dumb enough to not think about their prints being on the bag.

Someone who did NOT realized the connection might have dropped it found it, looked though, dumped what they did not want.

Cops were searching Central Park all day Wednesday and Thursday. I doubt anyone else randomly found the pack. I have been wrong plenty of times before, but feels like this is right where the killer left it

We have so many delivery guys in the city on ebikes - the bikes are readily available, imo, to anyone who is in the market. I don't think it's a special bike, imo, but something he could purchase from whatever bike shop we went to. I don't know a lot about them, but you can also get a conversion bike, which is a regular bike rigged up to be an ebike. I'm sure others know more, but my hunch is he bought the bike from a shop in Harlem or UWS - somewhere near the hostel - for cash.

I'm more curious about the ebike charging policy at the hostel. Did they allow that indoors? It can be a fire hazard and there might be regulations for a hostel.

Where did he charge his bike?

Well, that's because Chanel has millions of dollars worth of stock in store.

A hotel (however exclusive it may be) doesn't.

Yes, it may have ultra-high net worth individuals staying there, but the hotel doesn't own them, nor if financially responsible for them, like a store with its stock.

Plus the hotels are probably used to these CEOs and execs sorting out their own security.

That's not to say the Hilton wouldn't have a doorman there to shoo away vagrants, etc. But I can't see it being much more than that.

IIRC, the Hilton has a bunch of stores on that main level. So, I'm thinking that people can come and go as they please. I don't think the stores are exclusive to hotel guests.

I don't recall any hired security at the Hilton when we checked in. Our stay was many years ago, though. Things might have changed. We haven't been back since the increase in crime.

When we went to Mexico for the first time, we traveled to Acapulco. Lots of armed guards and police everywhere (even at the airport along with drug sniffing dogs).

Our resort (owned by Hilton) had its own armed guards. We were afraid to travel there, but it ended up being one of our most memorable trips to Mexico!

I posted somewhere far back that I believed he only showed his face because otherwise he wouldn’t be allowed to stay there. He had to match the (fake) I.D.

Then he, for the second it took, pulled out a disarming smile. No proof naturally, but it seemed to me that his smile has worked for him before.

It’s to his disadvantage that the camera was inevitably going to record him, but he did his best to minimize his resemblance to any “murdery” looking guy.

Of course only my opinion.

Yes, I agree. He most likely had to show his face. It's the only place in 200 images that he did. So, what else does one do, but put on a big smile? Disarming is the word.

And, so much the better if you think the young, pretty thing behind the desk might be melting into a puddle by it. Maybe even buy a little sympathy should he get caught? Buy a little alliance/loyalty?

CNN has footage of him walking near but not at the shooting site and stopping by a pile of trash there. He stoops and appears to leave something on the pile of trash, or at least touch it.

Getthefax, I've wanted to say this for a long time. I can't think of much that would stand out in NYC. It's, well, NYC. It's pretty much known for being the place where one can, and does, see anything at any time. It's really the thing that makes it unique in the world. If one wants to don nothing but pantyhose and walk down the street, go for it, but don't think nobody else is doing it. If you want to dress in black from head to toe, with two holes cut out of the full hood for the eyes, go for it. But don't think no one else is doing it.

If I saw this guy, in any of the photos that we've seen, there's just absolutely nothing that would have stood out. If I'd seen the photos on TV late on, I'm sure I wouldn't recognize him, simply for that fact.

BRILLIANT OBSERVATION fridaybaker!!! Which is why the assassination had to occur in New York, IMO. No one stands out in wintry hoodie and backpack there, huh?
