I can already see the heads of NYPD and the FBI banging against a table every time Mayor Adams begins interjecting himself into this. Just not helpful. At all.
I posted this earlier re. location of found backpack NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #4I agree. It seems it's by the lake at the north end of the mall. ?? That is not south of the carousel as previously reported.
If he threw the gun in the lake, he wasn't on the route I thought he was.
Eventually we will know, but I want the details now.

Agreed. At almost every hostel I've stayed at in the US, most of the other visitors were international travelers. The Americans I have met in US-based hostels have been longer term travelers, with a smattering of retirees who primarily stay in single rooms. They're usually located in areas frequented by international travelers as well.I still believe there's a NJ connection. I think he's American and has traveled abroad. It's very common for students/young adults to stay in hostels as they travel, not just because they're cheaper, but because you meet lots of other travelers. Hostels around the world have a very similar business model. In my experience, most Americans that are budget minded don't even think of a hostel stay in the US. A few years ago I stayed at a really nice one in LA. Everyone I know family/friends had no idea that the US had hostels.
I think those people are grossly overstating their welcoming arms, and are just blowing hot air… I would genuinely love to see how they would actually respond when faced with the prospect of having an assassin sleeping on the couch and popping by the fridge for a beerMay be hiding in same city, others would gladly hide him out. I believe this will set a trend. The CEO's that have gotten death threats will hire security teams now.
I just edited my post -- it seems they know he got on a bus that made 6 or 7 stops. UnitedHealthcare CEO shooting latest: Police search Central Park pond for evidenceMaybe he went into disguise here on after
Interesting. Thank you!I agree. It seems it's by the lake at the north end of the mall. ?? That is not south of the carousel as previously reported.

And the timing of it all is what amazes me. He got there at exactly the right time and seemed to know he had time to stop at Starbucks. That man was only going to be in front of that building for <1 minute before he went inside!Oh he absolutely did put a lot of effort into it, which is why this whole thing is so remarkable.
We just don’t see this level of commitment and planning, like ever. He seemingly thought of everything, and knew exactly what he was doing.
Had he done this like 30 years ago, he probably gets away with it.
They seem to know that water bottle and phone was his; I don't think it's a guess. No matter what he did, his room at the hostel would be covered in his DNA. There was reporting yesterday that some of the recovered rounds had DNA on them as well. That backpack is likely to also be a goldmine in that regard.
This guy isn't some master criminal, and things seem to have gone wrong after the fact. There's this tendency to build these guys' actions up into something almost mythical. Once we find out who he is, we'll see that he's nothing special.
It's worth keeping in mind that even in the UK, with our NHS, disputes arise between doctors/hospitals on the one hand and families/patients on the other, especially over issues of end of life care and matters of medical futility. Eg, the Charlie Gard and Alfie Evans cases. Not necessarily. Having something denied which the policy is stated to cover would justifiably cause anger. But many assume things will be covered and then flip out when they’re not, whether it’s a $20 copay or a lifesaving experimental procedure costing many thousands of $. Medical benefits are a very emotional matter. Dealing with health issues and $ (never mind the customer service frustrations) can cause much angst.
I'd imagine the vast majority are simply posturing, but there may be some concern that the 1-2% that aren't will actively assist the shooter. Some folks have claimed that the shooter is a "hero", that they "hope he does it again", and all manner of quite disturbing fanfare.I think those people are grossly overstating their welcoming arms, and are just blowing hot air… I would genuinely love to see how they would actually respond when faced with the prospect of having an assassin sleeping on the couch and popping by the fridge for a beer
We know of one smudged print right now, and don’t know if they have a good one.Quite certainly, they would have gotten gobs of DNA and fingerprints in the Hostel room where he stayed. They don't have to wait for the backpack.
However, reports after scouring the Hostel have indicated this:
But fingerprints gathered during the investigation have been a dead end so far, the chief of detectives said.
This just leads more and more to a foreigner. No one recognizes him, no fingerprints can be tracked. I would assume they have been scouring all the smaller airports within a particular radius of the City too. But how far? IF they really do NOT have an actual bus departure from GWB station, he could have been picked up by a car....
I am wondering if they can keep details of the investigation from Adams? Seems foolish to share things with him.I can already see the heads of NYPD and the FBI banging against a table every time Mayor Adams begins interjecting himself into this. Just not helpful. At all.
My thoughts exactly.I am wondering if they can keep details of the investigation from Adams? Seems foolish to share things with him.
LE might not be sharing much with him, but Adams wants to swagger.I am wondering if they can keep details of the investigation from Adams? Seems foolish to share things with him.
Hahahha it’s tough because the detectives report to higher ups, and the higher ups report to the mayor’s office.I am wondering if they can keep details of the investigation from Adams? Seems foolish to share things with him.
They have. They've had that backpack for nearly a day now. It's been X-rayed and opened, yet they've not disclosed anything yet. I would have thought they'd at least make mention of whether the gun was retrieved or not.
I have mixed emotions about him, but any mayor of NYC is going to hold a press conference regarding an enormously public crime in the heart of NYC.No doubt. Adams is a hugely unlikable and disliked man.
Yes, but it’s not over money is it?It's worth keeping in mind that even in the UK, with our NHS, disputes arise between doctors/hospitals on the one hand and families/patients on the other, especially over issues of end of life care and matters of medical futility.
