I think it's possible that he feels he had a botched surgery. JMO

Synopsis from today:

• How he was found: The suspect was “sitting there eating” at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, when an employee of the restaurant recognized him and called police, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said. He credited the tip to the wide circulation of a photo the NYPD released last week of the person without a mask on.
• Remember: The suspect was believed to have left New York City on an interstate bus, police officials said last week, after video cameras captured him entering the George Washington Bridge Bus Station on 178th Street but not exiting it.
• More evidence: When he was searched by local police, the suspect was found carrying multiple fraudulent IDs, a US passport, a firearm and suppressor “consistent with the weapon used in the murder,” New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said. Kenny said the gun was a ghost gun “that had the capability of firing a 9mm round,” and it may have been 3D printed. Police also said one of the IDs was a fraudulent New Jersey ID matching the one the suspect used to check into a New York City hostel before the shooting.
• Recovered documents: A multi-page, handwritten document was also recovered from the suspect when he was arrested, according to Kenny. It seemed that the man “has some ill will towards corporate America,” Kenny said. In the document, the suspect rails against the health care industry and suggested that violence is the answer, a police official who has seen the document told CNN. Two quotes in the document include: “These parasites had it coming” and “I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done,” an official said.
• Other key details: Police believe the suspect acted alone and they don’t think he was trying to flee the country, Kenny said.
• What we know about the suspect: The man has had no prior arrests in New York, according to Kenny. He is 26 years old and was born in Maryland. His last known address was in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kenny said.

I do think he must have felt that this was "the only option". I really don't think he did it for kicks. Tragically, he couldn't see what you, and the rest of us, can: He was actually quite well positioned, considering his intelligence, formal education, family/political connections, and likely many other qualities, to take a run at his dissatisifaction with society in a vastly different way.

It's a tragedy on so many levels. Mainly, though, for BT and his family. I can't get over what this has likely done to his sons.

I think based on available photos of LM, the eyebrows are a dead giveaway.
Add to that the chin and general shape of his face ?

the nose seems off to me, I know it is him, but in his pictures the nose appears to be a fine feature and in other pictures of him not connected to this it appears just as a large nose lol

Two questions I have:

1. I'm curious to know if he has experience shooting or was frequenting a gun range recently. He looked very confident and stoic when shooting.

2. As an Ivy League and private school grad, he likely has friends in corporate and investor circles. Does he have a friend who attended the UnitedHealthcare investor conference and gave him detailed information, including the attendee list?

Wow. Trying to catch up but what was the situation with his back issues? Just asking because my son recently had back surgery to repair his L5 (pars were broken on both sides due to sports) and my insurance company was giving us he11 about doing the surgery but I was my Kids biggest advocate and finally got it approved 18 hours before his surgery. He also had to have screws etc. So I was just curious.

Based on social media, LM is an means to an end.
The message he sent - the reasons he did it, personally, are irrelevant - are being celebrated and cheered on.
The message that the killing of BT sent matter more on social media to the agreed upon hive mind.
All JMO.

And I don't think they realize the wave of opposite narrative that is about to take over.

But, I do agree 100% that health insurance needs BIG CHANGES and I'm a supporter of coverage for all.

I doubt he used a range, as I'm confident the suppressor was not registered. I absolutely do think he had fired it somewhere though, probably in the woods. He expected that gun to jam, and knew exactly what to do when that happened.

He definitely knew how to operate firearms. His choice was stupid though. He was making a statement with that choice, along with being wrapped up in his fantasy of being some master criminal - imo, obvs.

The age of 26 is interesting. My oldest is 26 and had to get her own health insurance this year. I've heard plenty of complaining about how much she now has to pay for her own plan and the deductible is so high. She still has to pay out of pocket for everything and it is really frustrating.

Maybe it is the suspect's first year of having to pay too. Obviously murder is not the answer. It is possible that now having to pay for his own health insurance (& realizing how expensive it is and how much isn't covered) could have been one of his motivations leading to this murder.

Yes, he knew it would jam, imo. He moved to clear the jam in what seemed like a period before he could even comprehend it if he wasn't expecting it.

There are different ways of committing murder. One is so obvious, gun in broad daylight. Yet other has a few more layers, denying out of network care, even though less expensive for the ins. Co. Denying denying meds, xrays, mri's, full blood panels. Need to move to a new city, and so sorry no primary care physician openings so you are blocked from seeing a specialist. These decisions are just as deadly as the action taken with a gun. Just that we are genteel and literally powerless to fight back against a little slower but just as effective murder. JMO

It is not right to take vigilante actions. But it does make sense that the suspected murderer (if he's the guy) might feel that his crime is not as bad as the crime(s) he believes have been committed by an industry.
