We have a healthcare/medical debt crisis in the USA.
yes I am aware
that's why I said it's really no secret
we have a healthcare crisis here in Canada too for other reasons

Maybe the plan was to go to another country and only speak Italian and pretend to know a little English? Like maybe somewhere south of the border? IDK, but I'm sure they're checking his finances because to live alone in another unfamiliar country he would need more than $10,000. Maybe has an off shore account? He was taking his time if the plan was to leave the US. Something slowed him down, or he was never leaving. Wonder if he was surprised that LE didn't have his name. Maybe he thought they were closing in, when in reality they were not. Clue will be the $2000 in other currency.

The suspected gunman appeared to make a reference to UnitedHealthcare writing that “United” is one of the largest companies by market capitalization in the United States, according to a law enforcement source who has read the document.
There is no mention of Thompson specifically.
not saying he is sane but he is always thinking IMOIf he was departing the US with more than $10k USD, he would be required to report it.
So if he tried to use $8k USD and about $2k in another currency, he could technically say he had less than $10k USD.
Of course, not all passengers are stopped and asked this question, but it seems like another maneuver to avoid interrogation.
Thanks for reconfirming that. I totally agree the customer should get at least half of the reward, if not more.
If his family owned nursing homes, they would be very familiar with insurance billing, and be able to take cae of billing issues.Yes. To add to my earlier comment about having read some the same books and topics he read: I never read the Unabomber's manifesto that I can recall, but I remember when it was released and discussed, and I remember thinking that, except for the violence, I mostly agreed with it. I've labelled myself a neo-Luddite for decades, and could expound for a good long while on what harm I think technology has done (even while I spend much of my days online).
Feels a mite creepy at this moment, but again, I don't think that the general environmental perspective he appears to espouse is all that uncommon. It's the conclusion that violence is warranted that makes this guy's take stand out. (plus the tech-bro incel stuff which I of course don't share)
And it's a shame, because as other posters have said, this guy's privilege could have been used to give him a leg up toward a life of helping solve problems. Maybe his murderous action will start a culture war and maybe it won't, but either way he is most likely spending the rest of his life locked up, unable to participate.
I just saw a thread on SM implying it's not the same guy because he has a slight unibrow but in the hotel pics he didn't appear to.Smiling photo was upon checking in to the hostel so I'd say that 10 days sleeping in a hostel and then brutally murdering someone and then running from the police for 5 more days might just change your looks.. he looks rough now. Actions have consequences and it seems he's finding that out.
Hopefully a forensic search of his computer will be able to shed some light on that.Bbm.
I'm still wondering if there was any help for LM ?
Even if LM knew BT was going to be at that meeting/conference, how'd he know for sure it was BT walking to the lobby ?
Can't get off that fence.
Omo.
He should have changed his appearance (lighten and trim those brows in particular, and grow a beard) and taken the first flight out of NJ. He could have been anywhere before the authorities even had his picture out there. He did have his passport. His passport was not really needed for a murder in the US, and bus/train travel.
I think he might have waited till things died down in the press.
He should have taken off to San Diego, crossed the border (no ID required) and taken a flight from Mexico.
Have you not seen the murder captured on video?? Seriously????Did they? I don’t know. I was just going off of what another person said… what they said did not include murder.
Yea, I just googled it and read the news report. No murder charges.
Boy oh boy. Imagine being a parent and seeing that photo of your kid.@alcaprari23

Pic from the article you posted. Looks like I might have been on to something with the reason Luigi wore masks. If he's wearing one all alone on a rockclimbing wall... he's doing it because of Covid. JMO So, it might have been more than trying to hide his face. It would also be why he had a box of masks in his backpack (someone posted that info and source above)![]()
Luigi Mangione's Hawaiʻi Friends Shocked By Arrest In UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooting - Honolulu Civil Beat
Luigi Mangione lived at the Surfbreak co-living community near Ala Moana Park on Oʻahu. He was arrested Monday in Pennsylvania, five days after the shooting of an insurance executive.www.civilbeat.org
Mangione, 26, suffered chronic back pain from an apparent pinched nerve, said R.J. Martin, Surfbreak’s founder. His friends stopped hearing from him this summer.
Mangione was committed to personal development through reading and working out. He got around Oahu by bicycle, and even after he moved out of Surfbreak he would walk with Wexler from Magic Island to Surfbreak, located in the penthouse of a building near the Hawaii Convention Center.
Martin recalled the problem, which had lingered for years, was a misaligned vertebrae that would pinch Mangione’s spinal cord.
"He went radio silent in June or July,” Martin said.

These are just a few excerpts. Much more at link.
Did he in fact "hand-in" that same fake ID or did LE find it when searching his stuff? Either way I don't see the purpose of keeping that ID on you as it no longer serves a purpose other than tying you to a crime.Espeically considering he had multiple fake IDs.
The 26-year-old had multiple fake IDs
Did he pee his pants?@alcaprari23
