Forgive the subjectivity on this, but as I look at the recordings of BK's face today, I felt like I was looking right right into the face of the murderer as he really is. I haven't had this experience with BK in the past; he has never registered with me in this manner before. Watching him today, even without context or his words, without the "guilty," I saw BK with an entirely different face, and I think that's as close as we can safely come to seeing the face that went to Moscow that night without ending up dead. While it didn't give me chills or anything, I seriously felt like I was looking into the face and eyes of some particularly terrifying strain of madman. (Had a similar sensation once watching a Bundy interview where the reporter said something that Ted evidently didn't like.)

He'd do it again. I feel he'll be safe in prison, but jmo.

RIP Kaylee, Maddie, Ethan and Xana.

Did you see his Dec 28 selfie??

NBC was the first to publish it, I think. You have to scroll at least halfway down.

I did get chills from it. I also thought it looked like he had stopped eating. And I also think he is showing is true, terrifying self. I agree that he was planning on more crime.

Can't find an easy way to insert it here (don't want it on my own computer).

IMO

SG says that if it had been 4 other people- not college students, then it would have been the death penalty.

I’m not sure I understand how he arrived at that ???

He's becoming unhinged with grief, IMO, and that can be dangerous. No one is denying he is in immeasurable pain, but he needs to stop before someone else is hurt

To hear him sit there and answer...Guilty..Guilty..Guilty..Guilty of these murders. Of these young beautiful souls. I wept.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I hoped that before Judge Hippler accepted Bryan’s plea, he had to provide the location of the murder weapon and why he targeted these specific college students.

It won't be long before authors start contacting the murderer to begin interviewing or corresponding with him. You can bet his former professor from DeSales will write a book. She’s already appeared on a crime news show.

I share your wish that BK had been required to provide the location of the murder weapon and his motive for murdering at least one of the students.

However, I think that Bill Thompson implied during today’s court hearing where the State thinks BK deposited the murder weapon: in one of Idaho’s rivers.

I can now easily report the relevant part of today’s hearing now that the transcript is available (of course it appeared shortly after I spent an hour—well, it seemed that long, at least, lol—transcribing a very short part of the hearing myself to check the accuracy of my memory of Bill Thompson’s recitation of the events immediately before, during and after the murders):

So, did BK really throw the murder weapon into either the Snake River or the Clear Water River in Lewiston, Idaho—the state’s seaport? Only BK knows (unless, of course, Bill Thompson is being coy).

Was anyone else surprised by how little new evidence was revealed during today’s hearing?

We now know that BK parked in the elevated parking area behind the house (as many speculated here), that police found a bucket of cleaner right next to BK’s car (love that little detail!), and that his car was meticulously cleaned (as stated in the first Dateline episode about the murders).

Perhaps Bill Thompson revealed so little new evidence, sticking mostly to what we already knew, so he could tamp down the media response until after BK is sentenced and the gag order is lifted.

I was glad to hear that he admitted putting the sheath from the knife next to MM. That was new to me. I thought maybe it was deposited without his knowledge at the time.

Also, his phone shows two selfies that are positively incriminating and ghastly. That was new to me. It's some of the most incriminating evidence.

I think this was carefully constructed so as not ty io throw shade at his poor parents, or anyone else. Including faculty and others at U of W. The statement was sanitized so to speak, to avoid mentioning any of the potential witnesses whose lives have been upended. Looks like there's more video of the car than we thought (shown parking above the house). Now we know his fingerprints were on the slider.

The fact that 6-7 defense witnesses told the judge they had nothing material to add to the case and that they did not want to testify was new. They all refused to testify on his behalf in the mitigation phase.

It wasn't part of today's facts, but apparently a kick boxing teacher in PA testified that BK never took kickboxing lessons with him - his father did, while BK merely lurked. That's in MSM and I think Kohberger was present when the person testified. Probably made him outraged, as a narcissist. Another PA witness describes a violent outburst upon his arrest. None of that is relevant in court now, but we'll see more witnesses come forward in future.

Kohberger signed away his right to appeal that.

I know we would all like more about the possibility of him stalking MM on social media, but I suspect that will be disclosed (if the evidence exists) soon enough.

Steve needs to be very careful, he sound like he is becoming unravelled and sounds threatening to me. He should leave BK’s parents out of this. They didn’t kill anyone and they are victims as well. Making comments like this is going to potentially land him in hot water. I understand his anger but let the anger be directed appropriately.
Absolutely. And we live in an insane time of awful things happening. It has been reported how judges, and so many others are under threat so often. This is straight up dangerous against the judge, the prosecution, even the defense attorney and other others. Crazy things are all over the news of people doing things all the time. It is not OK threaten these people.

Again, with the advent of social media, who knows if jurors here would come back guilty or with the death penalty. It was never a slam dunk and no one should assume that.

Absolutely there with you, 10.

In that selfie I felt I saw Bryan the mass murderer.

The gleam in his eye. The sickly half-smile. The pallor. The thumbs-up as he congratulated himself on a job well done.

In court today I believe I saw the perfunctory Bryan, the lack of affect or emotion Bryan. The Bryan going through the paces as he was instructed to do.

But in that selfie, where he wasn’t performing for the public or the court, I saw a glimpse of the Bryan that tragically was seen by Maddie, Kaylee, Xana and Ethan.

Devil’s 😖 Advocate: States aren’t required to have the death penalty, so I’m dismayed that Idaho is afraid to use it. If Idado citizens do not want the death penalty, it may be removed from their penal code. Appeals are the usual course of action in D-P cases and yes, the prisoner is on death row for years.
Chad Daybell was convicted a year ago and given the death penalty. It's not that "Idaho" is "afraid to use it." They charged BK for death penalty offenses and he got a death-qualified public defender. BK decided to plead guilty to avoid a trial, which is a common tactic for guilty people afraid of the DP.

@Arkay, I hope your dad’s surgery goes well.

I hope for allocution but IMO this is better than giving him the easy way out. He will spend the rest of his life rotting away in his cell, hopefully with no amenities such as a TV or computer. My wish is that he has no contact with anyone except guards and I hope they treat him with disdain and resentment. He is a worthless human being and deserves to suffer until the end of his life.

Snipped from article:

While his parents offered a show of support to their son, Kohberger’s two older sisters Amanda and Melissa appeared to be notably absent.

Both of his sisters lost their jobs following their brothers’ arrest.

And, one of his sisters reportedly had ‘suspicions’ that their sibling could have been involved in the murders when he returned home for the holidays in December 2022, NBC's Dateline reported in May 2023.

The sister reportedly pointed out Kohberger’s proximity to the scene of the murders in Moscow on November 13, 2022 - and had searched his car for clues.

I do feel bad for his family, most especially his sisters.
It's unfortunately an uncommon last name, so I'm sure they've experienced at least some level of social ostracism as a result of their creepy brother's actions.

If I were one of them, I'd consider legally changing my last name just to avoid all the questions, side-eyes, whispers, and all the other negative attention that's being directed at his family members right now.

I don't know what he said about the parents but Mr. Goncalves is going too far. I feel for his parents...no one raises their child to become as mass murderer. They are in hell too over this.
His parents are certainly living their own hell right now, just as the victims' families are. They also now, and perhaps one or both of his sisters as well, share a relatively rare surname with an admitted mass murderer. Merely introducing themselves to people will be uncomfortable now, knowing that many will make an immediate connection. In the big scheme of things, it is not at the top of the list of things that cause them misery, but it's there, and will remain there for quite a while . JMO

What is scary - I think today's hearing took longer than it took BK to kill 4 people.

He is such a narcissist, he would never admit that he accidentally left the knife sheath on the bed, IMO.

The prosecution is still under the gag order, too. It's probably safest to stick to the PCA until it's lifted.

I promise you AT would not have been smiling at or touching BK if she knew the fantasies BK was mentally entertaining every time he looked at her.

I can't understand why an employer would terminate siblings of an accused murderer. I wonder why?
