Hopefully not, but it's been done before. Per my link upthread, recall the Chilean miners who were trapped and finally rescued months after their cave-in. I think it happened in September and they didn't get them out until November, but were able to provide them with food, water, clothing, communication, comforts, etc.

Chiang Rai provincial Gov. Narongsak Osatanakorn confirmed that all of the 13 missing individuals had been found alive. Their conditions were not immediately clear.

"We found all 13 safe," Osatanakorn said, according to the French news agency AFP. "We will take care of them until they can move."

Their muscles might have lost a lot of tone since they went in there, they might not be strong enough to get out even with training in Scuba....and I guess it would take time to give each of them a crash course.

Right now they're alive and the medics need to keep them that way and build their strength up, assess their psychological condition, and at the same time other teams will be looking at various rescue options. I read on the Bangkok Post this morning that more rain is expected Wednesday. So if they have to wait for water levels to go down naturally, then I suppose it could take months. But hopefully it won't take that long.
