We don't know for sure that he hung around or knocked on her front door. I do agree that locals or family members should recognise him. The problem with this case has been that, at times, there were too many conflicting pieces of evidence being presented. If a documentary or a slot on a news programme would focus on one or two strong theories and present them to the public, it might focus people's minds and stir their consciences.
I can’t agree with you more much too ‘weighted ‘as SC put it once .
But have faith !

Could it be that he was merely checking the road to his left and behind because he was going to cross the road and he was checking for any aproaching traffic?
The problem with this is that he DID NOT go in to cross the road.
The hesitation has been well analysed next a previous poster almost a year ago.
The person in the light jacket would have been visible to Dark alley man at least a few steps BEFORE he actually hesitated.
I believe that he halts because he doesn't want to catch up with the person in the light jacket as they were working together.

The problem with this is that he DID NOT go on to cross the road, he turned the corner and walked in the direction of Nags Head and likely stopping at or near Claudia's. He wasn't able to see traffic flow on Heworth Road from his place of hesitation.

Yes it seems many people in cars as well, had the opportunity to see him knocking or standing outside her green door .
If he was local and by the same token the others were too, there would have been some mutual recognition and memories should have been jogged when the police six years later put up that short clip on a huge tv screen !

Perhaps a longer clip needed so that more people can recognise themselves?!!

I saw a panoramic view of Weymouth beach with literally thousands of tiny dots (people ) both on the sand and water ! in a Sunday Times supplement.
I used to go there a lot and I wondered ?!
I looked and looked I recognised myself in the water and to double check I found my family sunbathing on the beach !
I promise you no one on earth ( except my family) would have been able to point me out !!
i guess the giveaway @Popejohn3 was the @Popemobile" parked up in the sand

I believe hes putting something in his pocket or taking something fom his pocket his head movement is lowered momentarily in the same direction as the movement of the hand which would confirm this.

It’s a busy road and her cottage is on a very short stretch with awkward junctions either end. There is a primary school over the road from her house, shops a few doors down and a pub and a church. Driving down that stretch is a bit like those driving hazard perception tests- there is so much to be aware of it’s highly unlikely anyone driving would notice someone at her door. The road also curves as you drive round so you don’t have a clear view of that stretch until you are outside the properties.

I don’t know how to turn a sentence in bold but I was simply suggesting the police could show us a longer clip that is all to give other people chance to recognise themselves!
Your reference to mopmobile is nonsense

Yes possibly.
Could be his phone vibrating/message coming through/or putting keys away/retrieving keys.

Exactly my thoughts Yozzer.. If he had been to a parked vehicle to get an overnite bag/rucksack then it could be keys, equally receiving a mobile phone message/call from a a phone in a pocket would action the same reaction. (it is also noted its a right hand movement so a lot of us right handed people we would use this side for this purpose)

That would likely confit that he was dealing.
Perhaps he picked up the stash from the alleyway and Light Jacket was his customer.
These people may have had nothing to do with Claudia's disappearance.

Useful fact about left-handers: lots of us have adapted to a right-handed world & are fairly ambidextrous.
Re the possibility of the man walking to a parked vehicle in Heworth Place, this is something the cctv from Lime Court (located at the far end of Heworth Place & possibly at Reception) would tell us. Dai Malyn said at the end of the review, that they were greatly frustrated by the lack of cctv evidence.

Perhaps the only cctv evidence that the police were allowed to see was what they had from the camera in the Limes car park. I do think that this was staged. The way the whole case has covered tracks so well would suggest that being caught on cctv camera was a schoolboy error and so the cctv evidence we see we are all supposed to see.

@FromGermany, post: 16020097, member: 102539"]To the left of picture I'm seeing two persons, a hooked couple, it seems.
And a male in front wearing a white jacket and dark trousers.[/QUOTE]

bbm
The couple is walking from right side to left side (pic) and the man with dark trousers/light jacket is walking from left side to right side (pic); same street, same footpath, opposite direction. :)
-.-.-
Question to another poster:
Why should dark alley man be working with light jacket man? Why should they both be walking quite different ways, if there was a connection between the two? Then on the main street, why would one walk a few steps behind the other along the same footpath (dark alley man only waiting for seconds, because he doesn't want to encounter light jacket man directly at the corner, MOO*)? Pretending, not known to one another? Where was it planned by them to meet? On the main road, in front of CL's home? At the NH's? No meeting point at all? Did they meet already before? Why were they in the same main street at the same time ultimately, if they had to pretend for unknown reasons, not being known to each other?

* It's an easy way to act, as if the cell phone is ringing, because one wants to stop the walk for a moment .... (IF that is, what dark alley man is doing).

Sorry, but: no.
If I have to check on a car, which is coming beside me from HP, because I want to cross the main road, I would have a short look to my left side. I wouldn't look about my right shoulder at the footpath behind me. Dark alley man seems to look for someone, who could have followed him. Dark alley man seems to be used to this behavior, like someone up to no good from time to time. Just like someone, who has skeletons in his cupboard, MOO.
Apropos "skeletons in one's cupboard":
When CL had the visitor at her door and looked the street up and down before letting him in - what fGs did she think to avoid??

I was referring to a male who was part of the group heading towards Stockton Ln, the group walking ahead of mystery man. He is only visible for a split second. A minute or so later, the man you refer to walks from Stockton Lane towards Nag's Head as mystery man heads back towards Heworth Road. I don't think it's the same guy who was with the group, but it's possible. Equally he might be the person standing in the porch area of the property opposite who is dressed in a similar outfit! A lot could have happened in the minute or so which has been cropped from the video clip.
