'The CCTV footage proves no defendant has told the police or you the truth about what happened that night'

Ms Rees now turns to the CCTV evidence.

She said: “The CCTV has proved to be an important key in finding out what happened behind closed doors at 5 Lower Llansantffraid. It put John Cole in the position where he had no choice but to admit dumping Logan’s body.

“The CCTV shows beyond a shadow of a doubt Angharad Williamson was out and about and played her part in what was going on on July 31 and (the youth) knew full well what was going on and played an active part in Logan’s murder. Unlike the three defendants, the camera doesn’t lie.”

The prosecutor refers to the alleged incident on July 29 when Williamson was seen being pursued by the youth outside 5 Lower Llansantffraid, which she later claimed to have taken place following an assault on Logan.

Ms Rees said: “Why did she leave Logan in his room with a man who had punched him numerous times to the abdomen and a violent teenager who joined in on the attack. She said she ran out to find help but that is demonstrated to be a lie, no witnesses recall her asking for help.”

The prosecutor suggested Williamson had shifted the events of Friday to Thursday to fit in with the CCTV. She added: “Why didn’t (Williamson) call for help that day or the next day?”

Ms Rees said social worker Debbie Williams visited the house on July 30 but during her visit she did not recall hearing Logan

She said: “Could it be Logan was already unconscious in his room, behind those curtains at the time Debbie Williams arrived and John Cole and Angharad Williamson have hidden from a social worker another serious injury to Logan but this time included (the youth) in their conspiracy of silence.

“The CCTV footage proves no defendant has told the police or you the truth about what happened that night.”

"like rats in a bag, fighting each other til' the very end"

As a previous long term rat owner (for 13 years), I'd like to point out that the 3 defendants are nothing like Rats.

Rats are wonderful parents, they help raise eachother's babies, they're loyal, intelligent, form loving bonds with their fellow Rats and their human, they collect & share food and will bury their dead family & mourn them.

If 'in a bag', they would be more likely to snuggle together and sleep then fight.

I've thought about the shower/ bath LM had that evening.
It's possible that he'd vomited blood, onto his PJ top and sheets, perhaps that's when the bed sheet was changed and washed and his PJ top was changed too.
He may have been beaten harder again as a punishment for being sick in the bed and for messing the sheets that had been washed earlier in the day. Maybe this is when the other head injury was caused and his top was ripped.
I imagine him being dragged into the bathroom.

I always think sometimes there's a little truth in a lie, and when AW said JC had tapped LM on the head in the bath, I believe it was much harder than that.
I think if the toilet visit did happen and I'm not sure it did, LM was semi conscious that stage (as others here have said), that's why he fell down the loo, or it was AW's attempt to wake him, as she knew he was seriously hurt.

Prosecutor said Cole’s account of him finding Logan was was an 'obvious lie'

Ms Rees continues to discuss the CCTV footage and refers to the lights in Logan’s bedroom.

She said: “Despite Angharad Williamson’s insistence she was asleep, her phone was active during the periods she says she was asleep and viewing YouTube videos of a type she would have enjoyed, the Pimple Popper type videos.

“She also appears to activate the dialler app. Rather than admitting the truth she chooses to lie and pretend she was fast asleep.

At 2.43am, John Cole and the youth were seen leaving 5 Lower Llansantffraid carrying Logan’s body.

Ms Rees said: “It’s absolutely clear (the youth) must have seen John Cole was carrying Logan’s body, you know how close to each other they were. Why would (Cole) involve him in removing the body unless he was part of the team that inflicted the injuries on Logan that night.”

The prosecutor said Cole’s account of him finding Logan was was an “obvious lie” and referred to the fact he had threatened to kill Logan twice in the days leading up to his death.

'The big question here is why does Angharad Williamson not want to admit being awake during events of the night when she clearly was'

Ms Rees said: “At 2.44am, a minute after John Cole and (the youth) have left together with Logan’s body, the curtain of Logan’s bedroom opens and the light shines brighter. There is only one person in the property that could have opened that curtain and it’s Angharad Williamson.

“This unarguable evidence that Angharad Williamson was not asleep as she would have you believe, she was awake and busying herself in Logan’s room looking for incriminating evidence including a ripped pyjama top and blood stained bed sheets.

“She said she has watched enough cop shows to know what to do and went about it quickly and methodically.

“Whilst John Cole and (the youth) are dumping the dinosaur top, the dialler app is activated. Despite this, she continues to deny it, so desperate is she to cover up her involvement. What was the dialler application about?

“Angharad Williamson won’t tell us, she’s clinging to the story she was asleep. Had Angharad Williamson in her clean up of the bedroom after the body had been taken out, realised there was blood on the sheet, was she trying to call John Cole to get it and thought twice and instead popped it in the wash and put it in the tumble dryer which was operating the next morning?

“The big question here is why does Angharad Williamson not want to admit being awake during events of the night when she clearly was. She’s been betrayed by her phone activity and the CCTV but she clings to this lie she was asleep throughout.

“It would have to be a very powerful motive for a biological mother to cover up the circumstances of her son’s death. The only realistic motive is to seek to avoid the truth coming out that she was one of Logan’s killers and participated with other defendants.”

Police officers didn’t notice a single tear on the face of Angharad Williamson, said the prosecution

Ms Rees refers to the alleged cover up.

She said: “The 999 call is all a sham and all put on and all an act.

“There are little tells in that call that show (Williamson) was putting on a show….

“Why, if she was telling the truth about the events on Thursday and Friday, did she not link what had happened with Cole and (the youth).

“The body worn footage of the behaviour from Angharad Williamson and the other two defendants, that was a pantomime put on to deceive police and onlookers. If you hadn’t have seen the CCTV of the curtain opening and the light shining in the room while Angharad Williamson was the only person up in the house, you could well have been duped into believing that performance was genuine but you have seen the full picture now and know better than to fall for it.

“Despite all the wailing and howling, did you notice any tears flowing from her eyes? She’s gone on and on about Logan being cold before she was told he was found in the river. She says he is maybe suffering with hypothermia, at that point having no idea how long Logan had been missing. Why would she say he was cold when she had no idea of the circumstances.

“Angharad Williamson must have known when she mentioned being cold and hypothermia that Logan had been found in the river.

“John Cole is on the video and if you didn’t know any of the background you would think he was offering support to Williamson, as is (the youth).

“If you accept that Angharad Williamson was awake when Logan was taken out of the house and dumped in the river and knew full well what happened to him and are working together as a team to mislead the police, why would she involve herself unless she was involved in the killing.

“She continued that performance at the hospital, what was her reason for continuing to cover up, even when Logan’s lifeless body was in the room, only because she was involved in it and would do whatever it took to continue covering it up. Both nurses and police officers didn’t notice a single tear on her face. She said she wished Logan had learned to swim.

“When she was arrested, she shouted to (the youth) ‘You’ve done nothing wrong’. From the evidence of the CCTV she must have known he was involved in what happened behind the closed doors at number five, working together to hide what they did with Logan.”

I do feel social services have made some serious and woefully inadequate decisions regarding the youth. Placing him in a foster home with young girls and animals was negligent as was allowing JC to take care of him especially as they must have been aware of JC's relationship with AW who had young children.

The prosecution asked the jury to return guilty verdicts
Ms Rees refers to Cole and Williamson giving evidence in the trial.
She said: “Giving evidence exposed them both as abusive parents and the liars they are.

“The prosecution say although both Cole and Williamson stood in that witness box and repeatedly told you they were not guilty, their efforts in giving evidence did nothing more than confirm both were guilty.

“You are able to be sure both of them together with (the youth) participated in the murder of Logan and deliberately covered it up.

“You have heard many weeks of evidence in this trial, you as a jury have paid great care and attention to the evidence which in some places has been complex and in others distressing.

“Logan Mwangi died as a result of an unlawful act. Whoever killed Logan is with us today, whether in the dock or visible on screen. One of the people who killed Logan was one of the people in 5 Lower Llansantffraid at the time he died. John Cole, Angharad Williamson or (the youth).

“The defendants you have seen behaving like rats in a bag, fighting each other to the end, intent on forcing attention away from themselves.

“The prosecution say when you consider all the evidence in this case you can be sure that each one of the three defendants worked together here, each played their part in the murder of Logan and cover up.

“The prosecution ask you to return guilty verdicts for count one of murder and guilty verdicts to count three for perverting the course of justice in respect of Angharad Williamson and (the youth).”

The following closing statements will be IMO a lame last ditch attempt to cover up the evil!
I kinda wish Ms Rees was last. Her words were powerful, and I'd like to have known they were the last words the jury would hear before they made their decisions.

Empathy for the violent youth should have meant to send him to specialised institution with therapies/psychologists and discipline.
Not to an aggressive criminal as his carer.

Agree.

He needs years of rehabilitation, that's if it's even possible for someone like him. IF he is on the ASPD scale then it could be a very difficult job to rehabilitate or even make an impact, depending on the severity of any possible disorder.
The brain is still very plastic at that age, so there's a chance he can be rehabilitated, I only hope he is incarcerated long enough for that to happen.
