WOW to the jurors! When I was on the jury for four months, it was made CRYSTAL clear that we were NOT to ask for things unless ABSOLUTELY necessary! We never bothered the judge till deliberations, when we needed some things clarified! We never asked for snacks, bringing them in from home. Once a day, mid-morning, bottled water and snacks were brought to us... no special requests!
As far as talking, we WERE allowed to talk, chit chat, personal things, while int he jury room. We were, of course, prohibited from speaking of the trial. We discussed our families, jobs, other current events, etc. After, during deliberations, we seemed to explode with feelings and comments on the attorneys, witnesses, etc. All those thoughts that had been blocked for 4 months, spilled out like a river!
Jurors who I had previously thought were less than bright surprised me, and brought valuable ideas to the deliberation table. I was totally impressed with my fellow jurors. Most saw right through the attorney's tricks and schemes.
After the trial, the attorneys met with some of us and asked for a "review" of the trial. Some of us, myself included, made no bones of telling them we disliked their childish behavior. One attorney made slurs of a female lawyer's name, turning it into a nasty name, and calling her that in court, with no hand-smacking by the judge!:maddening:
Sorry for rambling.....
