I know the families don’t have any real say, but would SG by agreeable to LWOP? Reality is, unless different in Idaho, death room inmates spend 10, 20, 30 years on DR. Some even die of natural causes on DR.

Trials are to prove guilt and are simply not necessary when the defendant says he is guilty. Makes no sense to prove someone guilty who insists they are guilty. But what the parents could do is insist that Bryan tell them information. Where is the knife? Where are the dark clothes and plastic from car? How and why did he pick the victims? When did he decide on them? What was his original plan? Did he change his plan when he saw KG in bed with MM? Did he see DM? Why did he kill these 4 and so on.....When did he pick them. On and on. ......

I just think if he pleaded guilty that he needs to give a detailed explanation about the whole thing.

That hasn’t worked well in the past, i.e., Beth Holloway (Natalee). I don’t think BK would readily admit anything.

BK is not going to plead guilty at any point before, or during , the trial. He is not going to admit guilt in the penalty phase, if convicted at trial. He will never admit guilt. Not a chance. JMO

The Prosecution can and does confer with the families of the victims in certain cases. You are absolutely correct that most DP inmates spend a lot of time awaiting execution and some die of natural causes before then.

The difference in sentencing in receiving the DP is that it is more restricted than being housed in Gen Pop. Although with the high level notoriety of this case, I'm sure BK would be in PC anyway.

Either way, LWOP or the DP, BK is going to be in prison for the rest of his natural life. I'd personally like to see him with less privileges considering he took ALL the privileges away from 4 innocent victims, mainly the right to be alive and thriving. Not counting the 2 surviving roommates and the families and loved ones who have all been traumatized and suffered tremendously by his actions.

Where is the knife is a great question. The prosecution can prove that he bought a knife and a sharpener. Where are they? The best AT can do is argue that it’s a shared account. Okay, where is the knife?

and don't tell me it's autism...I'm convinced a good part of this is an act. He disposed of evidence in this case and the whole while he was free he knew he lost that knife sheath..and then they had it...he knew he was caught. at that point he went into evasion mode trying to hide his garbage..sneaking around with gloves on at 4 am. he was paranoid because he knew exactly what would ensue if they had his DNA. he knew they would trace him...he knew even then they could be outside watching him. Now, he's sitting there in court like a zombie...he has not one redeeming quality...he is toast..and these parents aren't going to accept a plea, they wish to execute him and I believe they will..I really doubt they care about knowing more details or giving him any kind of platform beyond his trials. mOO

Yes, that’s what I thought. Idaho, typically at least 10 years to carry out death penalty.

Recently, the Idaho legislature did some changes to expedite their death row process. They changed to death by firing squad, as there have been issues with using the "drug cocktail".

I don’t know about Idaho specifically, but if it’s a state that allows the families to make their victim impact statements (if BK is found guilty), IMO that would have some effect in court.

I agree that SG has stated that he does want the death penalty, and I can see him making a very strong statement. All the Goncalves family members have spoken freely about how they feel.

I'm not convinced they've fully adhered to the discovery rules. I don't think every accusation the defense has leveled is true but I certainly don't think they are all false either.

If I remember correctly, the family members of the victims are allowed to make a statement during the penalty phase, but they aren't allowed to mention their wishes regarding the death penalty. I'll look it up again, but IIRC, this was discussed early on.

Information concerning the victim and the impact that the death of the victim has had on the victim’s family is relevant and admissible. Such information shall be designed to demonstrate the victim’s uniqueness as an individual human being and the resultant loss to the community by the victim’s death. Characterizations and opinions about the crime, the defendant and the appropriate sentence shall not be permitted as part of any victim impact information.
