Wow, a lot of new info just in the one brief piece! One thing that struck me was that I have always thought BK only wanted to kill. After hearing of those searches on his phone, I am now wondering if perhaps he did have other plans for Maddie, before killing her, and Kaylee's presence thwarted those plans, and may have provoked rage from BK, possibly contributing to what seems to be a more vicious attack of Kaylee.

ETA: The more I think about it, the less likely I am to believe that he would have done anything that knowingly could have left his DNA behind, so maybe that was just sick fantasy, and he got off on looking at sleeping or otherwise vulnerable women, knowing that he COULD have his way with them. JMO

Ok this is getting to be a bit much for me.

I didn't read/listen to the article, I don't think I can bring myself to that. Anything with TB really bothers me. If we find out it does I will have to bow out permanently.

That said, how could he go that route with MM?? I mean wouldn't that have left dna? Yes... Yet he did EVERYTHING to avoid leaving any dna.

It may have been as simple as terrifying her. That would have been psychological and sexually gratifying for him.

...and we know that he had one object with him, at least. I think it was the threat, perhaps more than the act. JMO

And yet, he left his DNA behind.

Why do rapists ever rape? Maybe at that point he didn't think they'd ever track him down... didn't think of genetic genealogy... thought they'd never trace him.... the elusive New Bundy....

Though for him, stabbing may have been been his sexual fantasy of choice.

I can't fathom sitting next to him at the Defense table. I'm glad that's someone else's job.

BK is like every other criminal... not just the balaclava that night, his whole academic career was just a mask so he could do what he really wanted to do.

Didn't he tell someone he could get any girl he wanted? Easy enough, in the middle of the night when they're sleeping and you've got a Kabar....

He may have been just dumb enough to think, even if he left DNA behind (from SA), they'd never catch him to compare it to.

Maybe should have studied contemporary SKs.

Smartest man in the room is an idiot.

I had never heard of IRB application before so I went down the rabbit hole reading and reading.

M00, yes it does seem it is an IRB situation/question. However, it also seems to fall on whether or not he published his thesis, in otherwords his data.

If you are going to publish the data, most reputable journals and or web sites (like reddit) will want IRB approval. If it is only for internal use, and you aren't doing any intervention, one might get by with just satisfying their curiosity with questions/questionnaire.

So, did he produce his thesis/data?
That information I couldn't find.

You are correct. When a faculty member or student performs research for the university or under the university’s name, IRB approval is required for human research subjects. Approval is required before the research begins.

I never bought any of what AT had been trying to sell, but it makes me angry to learn that, alongside his interest in Bundy, BK has dozens of photos of college girls. Girls he can't possibly know. If that's not stalkerish and skeevy, I don't know what is.

Surely they were blindsided by the atrocity that is their son. It's one thing to worry about him, I'm sure they never imagined he could be capable of such unrestrained violence.

Leading a sort of double life, except with zero finesse. He couldn't sustain the public facade at all. Blew it the hell up.

I can't even stomach him sidling up to young women, at pool parties or wherever, asking for phone numbers. Collecting phone numbers and photographs (he took without asking, swiped from social media) like trophies, not a chance he could successfully initiate or maintain a real relationship. Potential victims everywhere.

Fine, AT. We can cross off 'stalker' if it makes you happy. He's straight up a PREDATOR.

I would think that if he did, that would have been addressed in court filings at some point. SG and his wife have stated since very early on, that BK had "liked" photos of Maddie and/or Kaylee on various social media pages. I think it was determined that those likes were from a fake account that disappeared shortly after discovery, but, hearing now that he did have photos of many WSU and UI girls, including some of their friends, does make one wonder. JMO

No wonder AT only wants to talk about seven minutes over in Pullman.

This trial is going to age her something fierce.
