Wow!
An Amazon replacement knife of the same type?
Yup!! I'm unsure, it's certainly one they seized in PA.
I'll go back once it's over and type word for word, he was saying stuff about physical exhibits are usually in envelopes, tagged etc but dangerous items are to be in locked display cases for the jurors and went on about security stuff, getting the knife through security and whatnot.

I would imagine if it is THE knife, it will have been scrubbed to bits by his boney hands BUT it would be a doozy...

If it fits the sheath, he's lying right through his teeth 💃

Ok, so I have a soft spot for JJ. He's in a rural area some 6 to 8 hours away from Ada County where there are not an ample number of judges in the Idaho panhandle, especially if he was taking over for another judge in a nearby county because of conflicts of interest or whatever. He knew the resources, local infrastructure, etc. were going to be stretched thin and the fact he was on the brink of retirement. He did the right thing as to his handling the change of venue decision.

Frankly I am also glad the venue was changed so the town of Moscow did not become another side show where people were bothering kids coming back to school at Idaho and WSU, flocking to the 1122 King Road site, etc., etc., given a reheating of the story and attention if the trial was still going on into August and the early fall.
I think Judge Judge is a hard-working and well-meaning judge, and I did not support the change of venue—at first.

Eventually, though, I accepted his arguments, and supported the move to Boise.

I was mad that he gave up the case to another judge, though—who knew who we’d get?

But now I am so grateful. As you say, Judge Judge is ready to retire. Even Hippler, the master of efficiency and confidence, was unhappy when he (Hippler) was assigned the case.

Judge Judge (IMOO) was simply not suited temperamentally for this particular case.

I have little doubt that the trial would have been postponed repeatedly. AT’s emotional appeals worked on triple J, IMO.

“Bryan is innocent, your honor.”

Etc

I can’t think of him ever challenging AT.

What BK shopped on Amazon? No way!! I thought he had wiped all his past transactions with Amazon off the face of the earth or blamed someone else with access to the Kohburger Amazon Family Cart...well, tried at least, bless his heart.

Yes.
Like the jurors, witnesses are summoned to the court for a duty without wrongdoing or a court related official capacity of any kind.
The police, the D and P attorneys, clerks and the judge are all officers of the court.
I see a distinction on the type of public exposure each should be exposed to.
I agree completely.

I am shocked. I was certain that they had been out looking on golf courses for the real killer. No, wait, that was OJ. My bad.

He left the bench in January and I believe the new District Judge has been chosen and named or is close to announcement for Latah County. I do seriously wish him the best.

State asks for the model of 1122 not to be called the doll house.
I totally agree.

EBM: I see that it was the Prosecution that referred to the model as doll house, not a good thing period.

IMO

It's possible they mean an EXAMPLE knife. One just like the one that they say was used to commit the crimes so they can show what it would look like and how it might match some of the inflicted damage. I don't know the exact model they think it is, but many have a serrated edge on the back, specifically for tearing. It can leave distinctive marks that would match only that model, for example.

ETA: when I say back on the serrations, I mean on the blade side, close to the handle.

You'd also think the slow chase with a white Elantra would have given BK up right away.

No, BK couldn't golf...he was too uncoordinated for that per AT. You know, being pictured in his school yearbook as an overweight teen doing push-ups, his kickboxing, hiking and running in the dark for a few miles regularly.

That's pushing it a little isn't it..Jury selection begins on July 30th IIRC?

Old Johnny C up in Heaven could not have said that any better.

Housekeeping right now.

A hearing has been scheduled about the Defense's proffer (method to formally submit evidence) about alternate perpetrators in this case for June 18th at 12:30 pm.

Judge Hippler wants to see more evidence to support the allegations Kohberger's team is making.

Very possible, I'm just hopeful they have it 😂

Y'all clock Judge saying "the knife will be in a display case"?

We know they seized a knife from the PA docs, but is it THE knife?

Man, it would be the icing on the cake
Would the State ever be allowed to display a similar knife? A replica? I can see that being important for SCALE, but it's not evidence unless BK purchased it, used it, replaced it, right?

That'll be something if LE found where he stashed it.

8:30-3-30, with jury.

Sequestered portion, they'll go later.

Not sure I understand that.
I thought the jury was going to be sequestered for the penalty phase only.

That's my exact thought, I can't see them bringing in a knife just to say oh this is a copy of the weapon used, it wouldn't be lawful.

I've linked the stream on the previous page with starting timestamp and he for sure said "THE knife will probably be in a display case" whilst he was talking about physical exhibits, dangerous weapons and security measures.

Man trial can't come soon enough

A link to the paper he looked up written by the professor he belittled because she was not a native English as a first language speaker.

Thank you for the link! Was he particularly interested in use of language to describe serial killers (academic purposes), was he looking for justification in committing murder (neutralize perception of violence), or did he expect Ted Bundy to explain to him why he wants to kill young women?

That paper leads me to believe that he went directly to Maddie's bedroom because she was his (first?) target for sexual gratification and violence. That is, the paper explains how Bundy minimized torture, rape, murder by blaming society for both objectifying women (marketing) and availability of 🤬🤬🤬🤬.

Did the suspect plan to do the same to all the women in the house, even though it was already 4 a.m.? Maybe, maybe not. We know that he targeted Maddie, beyond that, we don't know. Did he plan to assault and murder her in her bedroom? I'm not convinced. I believe he had a meticulous plan and it did not involve being in the house an hour later when the he could not predict who would be awake or moving around. If this was his first murder, he wanted time, safety, privacy. Maybe not - maybe he planned a frenzied, chaotic murder scene where all that was required for failure was one person to wake up.

I'm curious whether there's evidence that he went to the vegan restaurant where Maddie worked during hours that she worked. That's the missing piece in connecting the dots to stalking and eventual house invasion and murder.

I saw a DM link upthread about a fictional paper he wrote - is that available online?

Have they been treated by media bad? I think random conspiratory youtubers have done so. I wouldn't exactly call them media. At any rate, aside from the parents, they have all the right to be there. I just don't know if they would want to relive the horror, it's gonna be pretty bad.
Social Media has and still are cruelly berating and destroying their reputations online. I cannot fathom what they have endured since Nov 13, 2022. Their lives were forever changed as well. :(
