An extractor and an ejector on a firearm are replaceable parts. It's conceivable that a person who used a firearm in a crime, whether firing it or not, and then found out that a bullet was accidently left at the scene, being aware of the potential for ballistics testing down the road, could change out those two parts. I'm not making any conclusive statement here, just commenting on the possibility.

Allen told Holeman no one had ever borrowed his Sig Sauer, his clothes, or his car. He never carried his gun unless he went fishing or mushroom hunting, he told the investigator. He said he didn’t have the Sig Sauer with him on Feb. 13, 2017, and couldn’t explain why a round linked to the firearm was found near the bodies of Abby Williams and Libby German.

While Allen was asked how he typically carried a gun and confirmed he would “normally carry” in a side holster, he denied giving further answers. This led Holeman to try a different tactic.

“I have been trained in many techniques to conduct interviews,” said Holeman. In this case, the technique he had to implement was “…to lie to obtain information.”

Thus, Holeman told Allen he had pictures and audio of him on the Monon High Bridge, proving Allen was the “Bridge Guy” captured on Libby’s cell phone who commanded the girls to go down the bridge. Holeman also stated witnesses and experts confirmed this information.

Richard Allen denied killing the girls “20-25 times”, according to Holeman. He reportedly told the lieutenant “I’m not going to tell you something I didn’t do.”

However, despite denying the bullet left at the murder scene was from his gun, Holeman said Allen did admit to being on the trail that day, near where Abby and Libby were killed.

He said he interviewed Allen at the ISP Lafayette Post following . Allen’s wife Kathy came with him. Holeman said, at first, he didn’t plan on arresting Allen at the start of the interview, but read him his Miranda Rights anyway.

Holeman said they started by talking about firearms and past military experience, and if anything was damaged when investigators searched his home. He asked Allen if anyone borrowed his car, clothes, or gun for long periods of time, to which Allen said no. Allen also denied having his firearm on him on Feb. 13, 2017 – the day of the murders.

Holeman told the jury he told Allen that Oberg’s report matched the bullet to his gun. Allen denied this. Holeman said after denying it, Allen’s “demeanor changed.”

Holeman said Allen did eventually confirm he was on the High Bridge on Feb. 13, 2017. They took a brief break during the interview. Holeman said he overheard Allen speaking with his wife, Kathy, telling her if she asked for a lawyer, they’d let her go.

Holeman briefly explained to the jury his training to know when someone is lying. The common cues he said to look for involved body language, such as touching of the face or looking away. He said there were “few signs of deception” from Allen, but they were “very subtle.”

Per Defense Attorney Andrew Baldwin, Richard Allen was interviewed on October 13th and 26th of 2022. The defense now wants the videos of those interviews to be played in court.

According to Special Judge Fran Gull, those videos will be played next week.

There would be no reason for him to lie about this, so I think it’s true. He may fish in locations where there’s the possibility of bears or something.

According to this motion Holeman said the bullet was 6 inches from a dead girls' foot. This must be Libby because the PCA describes it as Victim 2 which is referring to Libby. Libby captured her killer on video and her foot probably embedded the bullet in the dirt a little, later to be discovered glittering by LE.

Side note: I previously posted that Libby was dragged 7 to 8 feet from the large blood pool, which is correct, but I also added that the bullet was found 2 feet from her body. That was not correct it was 6 inches from her foot according to Holeman. I am correcting myself because I never want to state anything other than the truth.

Bottom line: Libby is a hero in more ways than one.

Not uncommon, especially if fishing from the bank or in or around river/creeks where encounters with wildlife can occur. Water sources and all. Coyotes, fox, raccoons, rattlesnakes, copperheads, child murderers.

I suspect “him” is a typo - Allen replied “Then take all of your evidence and arrest him already.”

FoxNews is reporting it a bit different:
“That trooper advised Allen he was free to leave. Allen said he was done but continued to talk, Holeman said. According to him, Allen then stated “You have all the evidence, just arrest me.”

I take that to mean he carried his gun when in isolated outdoor areas, woods, river banks etc.

Yeah…I’m just wondering what brought this about. RA doesn’t seem to have a brain tumor - I guess chances are he’s done similar things before. To animals if nothing else. He is apparently a really late bloomer, as far as bestial killers go. Just the thought that these innocent girls would trigger this…I’m speechless. Just…
