Thank you . So even if (for example ) dna testing advances and they retested and found RA’s DNA inside of the girls (ie new evidence), he couldn’t be retried ?

Here in the UK, it is a high bar, but a person can be retried if there is new and compelling evidence .

Nup. This is their one shot.

Unless it's a mistrial then they'll go again imo.

I have seen anywhere from knee high to waist high. I think the pants that Abby was wearing were wet to the knees. IIRC
corect me if I am mistaken, anyone...
Yes.
Gray Hughes has a video where he is using his 3D maps and actual pictures. The pictures are of LE rescue in orange suits searching the creek. There are about 4-5 men standing in the water. The deepest looks waist high. Also it shoes a sandbar right by them.

“He trusted Dr. Wala. He wanted her there when he called his wife to confess to killing Abby and Libby. He trusted her.”
He trusted Wala and also his own wife with the truth.

Allen’s prison confessions are another linchpin in their argument. McLeland played the calls again, noting when Allen told his wife, “I did it. Just know I did it.”

Guilty verdict by end of day today/lunchtime tomorrow is my guestimate

Can someone remind us what exactly the charges are?

charges (on 1/18/24/granted on 3/18/24): 2 counts of felony murder (knowingly & intentionally), 2 counts of murder (while committing or attempting to commit kidnapping of both victims).

Even if he confesses, even if his DNA is found, even if a video shows him actually committing the crime, if he is found not guilty by this jury, he cannot be charged for these charges again.

I think he could be hit with a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court by the families like OJ Simpson was, but I doubt that would happen as RA has no assets to take.

This is it.

Yeah the double jeopardy is strong in the US. There are exceptions if the feds or the military want to try (if qualified).
Yes in the UK they did go against double jeopardy several times.

Were Abby’s clothes wet and why?

A lot of testimony from all the witnesses and questions from the defense team on Monday called into question how deep the creek is and if the clothes Abby was found in were wet.

The investigators testified that Abby’s clothes were wet or damp and they did not think it could have been from condensation. Defense attorneys, however, brought up that there are not clear lines on the clothes showing a “water line” of where they may have been wet.

Defense attorneys also pointed out that no measurements of creek depth were taken.

It’s thought that the girls exited the Monon High Bridge on the south side of the creek, but their bodies were found on the north side. No one testified a clear way the girls ended up on the other side of the creek.

Olehy testified that Abby’s jeans were bunched up at the waistband and were wet to the touch. “I can see the jeans are darker on the leg bottom and the waistband was still wet,” he said.

He also said that during the autopsy on February 15, the clothes were still wet and moist and were taken to the Putnamville State Police post in Greencastle because they have a facility that’s designed to dry out evidence. Clothes found in the creek were taken to that same facility to be dried out.

THANK YOU for this! I knew I read this but could never find it again.

"...“I can see the jeans are darker on the leg bottom and the waistband was still wet,” he said."

That's why in my timeline I wrote they were stripped from the waist down before crossing the creek. M00, after that he "picked" Libby and made her take everything off. In turn he made Abby get dressed (w/whatever was in front of her. She also had shoes on but no socks).

M00 is he had every intention of raping one of them in that spot. Then he was spooked. He grabbed them and they grabbed left over clothes and headed across the creek. M00 I think Libby dropped some on purpose.

Some people would take you up on a bet on that.

Yep, unbelievable that anyone could think that someone tossed those branches on Abby and Libby and they just happened to land the way they did.
Your opinion. I think RA covered the major slashing injuries for whatever reasoning (distancing) and then put whatever was handy on them just to try and cover them up as much as possible from the view of the other side.

My Opinion Only

under the bridge like that on or near that gravel road is a terrible place to try that.

I suspect he was taking them under the bridge to the other creek that is a tributary.

That gravel road is 1/2 mile before you get to the bridge. You can hear vehicles driving in gravel a long way away. If they guy in the van was driving at 25 mph, then BG only had maybe 72 seconds (calculated) to head to the creek/hide behind trees.

25 mph = 132,000 ft/hr

5280 ft/mile / 2 = 2640 ft

2640/132000 = .02 hours = 1.2 minutes = 72 seconds

That is plenty of time to get away and out of sights and across the creek IMHO.

how did they land? and how does one gauge how branches could or could not land? Are you basing your analysis on the drawings made by those in the court room approximating the crime scene and branch placement?
