Liposuction came completely out of nowhere. Madness.
So she was going to tell her family that she had ovarian cancer as a cover to hide that she was having liposuction? Yah, sure....

More questions about alleged coloured plates

By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers then suggests to Erin Patterson that contrary to her evidence given last week, she did remember what plate she had eaten from. Erin says this is incorrect.

The court is then shown a photo of the dining table, marked up by Ian Wilkinson to indicate where guests were seated.

Ms Patterson last week told the court it looked mostly correct, but she recalled Gail and Don were in swapped seating to that outlined by Mr Wilkinson.

"Yeah I thought I remembered facing Gail to talk to her, but I can't be certain," Ms Patterson tells the court.

"I suggest that after you had plated the food, you carried the smaller plate over to the dining table for yourself, agree or disagree?" Dr Rogers asks.

"There was no smaller plate," Ms Patterson says.

"I suggest that you knowingly served death cap mushrooms in the four separate beef Wellingtons you served up to your four lunch guests," Dr Rogers says.

"Incorrect," Erin says.

Dr Rogers further puts to Ms Patterson that to "avoid any error" of accidentally consuming a poisoned beef Wellington, she took the "extra precaution" of using a smaller, different-coloured plate for herself.

The prosecutor puts to her that this is why she never suffered the Amanita phalloides poisoning that her four guests experienced after the meal.

Erin disagrees with each suggestion.

The "Lyposuction" was a reactive response by her, another lie when she was caught out. Nothing more.
They don’t do gastric bypass? Hmm, must’ve been liposuction. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

I’m so sick of her sidestepping around the evidence. She never said her alleged appointment was either for gastric bypass surgery or liposuction until she was caught in a lie.

Enrich Targeted Liposuction and Fat Scraping.

Perhaps this is where she was having an assessment, but for liposuction not gastric by-pass surgery.

There is a HUGE difference between Gastric ByPass Surgery and Liposuction. And an even larger difference between those things and Ovarian Cancer.

Erin Patterson tells court Ian Wilkinson’s evidence about her plates was incorrect

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC takes ErinPatterson to questions about the plates used to serve the beef wellingtons at the fateful lunch on 29 July 2023.

Earlier in the trial, Ian Wilkinson said Patterson served beef wellingtons for her guests on four large grey plates while she ate from a smaller “orangey-tan” coloured plate. (Ian is Erin’s estranged husband’s uncle).

Rogers says Patterson’s evidence that she only had white, black and red and black plates was a lie. Patterson rejects this.

Rogers asks if Patterson believes Ian gave incorrect evidence about the plates.

“Yes, I do,” Patterson replies.

Patterson says there were no grey plates used.

Rogers asks if it was the case that “people sat where they liked” at the dining table.

“Yes,” Patterson says.

Patterson rejects the suggestion by Rogers that she ate from a smaller plate.

Patterson says: “There was no smaller plate.”

Erin Patterson tells court she doesn't remember visiting the iNaturalist webite

By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers summarises Ms Patterson's evidence from last week about whether a visit to the iNaturalist site on May 28, 2022 was the "first time" she had visited the site.

"I don't remember ever visiting iNaturalist," Ms Patterson says.

"I suggest you were familiar with the iNaturalist website before this date, because you entered iNaturalist as the specific search term. Agree or disagree?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I would have to disagree," Ms Patterson says.

"Did you have an interest in death cap mushrooms on 28 May, 2022?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I have no idea," Ms Patterson says. "My only interest ever was to find out if they [were] in South Gippsland or not."

When asked if it was her who navigated the page that day, Ms Patterson replied: "Well somebody did. And that somebody could've been me."

Hey Erin, how many people had access to your computer? Does it have a password or a fingerprint needed to open it up?

Who else uses your computer? I could see your son maybe using it---but did he place an order to that Hotel for meal delivery minutes after looking at the I-naturalist site?

Erin Patterson tells court she didn't measure how much her lunch guests ate

By Joseph Dunstan

The prosecutor then moves to the topic of how much of her beef Wellington meal Erin Patterson ate at the lunch.

"I suggest that it's not the case that you simply picked at your own meal at the lunch?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I don't think I claimed that," Ms Patterson says.

Dr Rogers recaps banter at the table about how much people had eaten and asserts there was no banter about how much Ms Patterson ate because she ate her meal. Ms Patterson disagrees.

The prosecutor recaps how much people ate, starting with Gail, who the court has previously heard ate just half of her meal.

"It may have been more, it may have been less, I didn't measure it," Ms Patterson responds.

Dr Rogers then moves to an account from doctor Rhonda Stuart, who previously told the court Ms Patterson had told her she'd eaten roughly half of her meal.

"I suggest that you had in fact eaten a whole portion of your serve at the lunch ... and you told Professor Stuart, half in an effort to explain to the medical authorities, why your symptoms were not as serious as the symptoms for the other four lunch guests," Dr Rogers says.

"Incorrect," Ms Patterson responds.

She maintains under questioning that she does not recall her conversation with Professor Stuart at all.

Wonder if maybe Erin was thinking “I’ll give you something to pray for..” and a bit of

Not sure than anyone meets Erin’s standards of intelligence, hygiene, affection …etc

I do wonder if her mother was a robot, was her father also a robot? My opinion is Erin finds fault in everyone.
I believe she described her own father as a “doormat”.

Is all of this Gastric Bypass stuff being discussed to further show that she's a chronic liar?
Seems like it.
What an unreliable witness she’s showing to be.
What a waste of public resources to extend the trial IMO
I know everyone has the right to a fair trial BUT this beggars belief - this woman who could do so many things can’t remember where she shops or which surgery she books in for. Sure …

Erin Patterson tells court she doesn’t own four of the same plates

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC says SimonPatterson gave evidence that the day after the lunch Heather Wilkinson said she recalled Patterson had served her beef wellington on a different coloured plate which was different to the other plates.

Simon also said that on route to hospital Heather asked if Erin was short of crockery and therefore needed to use mismatched plates, Rogers says.

“Heather Wilkinson was correct in her observations wasn’t she....” Rogers says.

“I don’t know,” Erin says.

Erin says she “doesn’t have a matching set of plates.”

I don’t have five plates the same so somebody would have had different plates.

I don’t have four plates the same either.

When I plated the food, it wasn’t for particular people.

Plates not deliberately chosen, Erin says
Melissa Brown profile image
By Melissa Brown

The prosecutor reminded the court about Simon Patterson’s evidence where Heather Wilkinson had asked if Erin was short on plates after being puzzled as to why she allegedly served herself lunch on a different plate to the guests.

Erin Patterson told the court she remembered Simon's evidence but continued to tell the court she did not serve herself on plates different to her guests.

She then stops and says she should clarify her evidence, saying that it may be that everyone at the lunch had different plates because she did not have a matching set.

She says the only way she could reconcile Simon Patterson's evidence was that if she had eaten off a plate her daughter had made in kindergarten, but insisted that she did not deliberately chose which plates to serve her lunch guests with.

Erin insists beef Wellingtons were all the same
Joseph Dunstan profile image
By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers puts to Erin that she served herself on a different-coloured plate.

"The only way I can reconcile that is if I had that kindergarten plate, but that looks nothing like what Ian described," Ms Patterson says.

"But when I plated the food, it wasn't for particular people, so I didn't serve myself anything."

Dr Rogers recaps evidence from Erin's son, who recalled stacking white plates into the dishwasher. Dr Rogers again suggests that Erin's account of the plates was a lie.

Ms Patterson again insists the beef Wellingtons were "all the same", when Dr Rogers puts to her that she had made a different one for herself.

I am sure that if I was considering surgery or thought I had cancer, I would be able to remember what an appointment was for. Pretty big life events!

Out of interest, I wanted to confirm if the clinic in question even did offer Lipo. It appears so, although they stopped offering this in June 2024. Certainly no gastric bypass at the clinic from what I can tell.

Prosecutor suggests Erin Patterson said she only ate half lunch in an attempt to explain why her symptoms weren’t as serious

By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers recaps evidence from child protection worker Katrina Cripps, who said Erin Patterson had told her she'd eaten half of her lunch.

The prosecutor again repeats her assertion that this was told to Ms Cripps in a bid to explain why she wasn't as sick as her lunch guests. Again, Ms Patterson rejects it as "incorrect".

When asked about her memory of that conversation, Ms Patterson recalls that she told Ms Cripps she would have eaten "about half".

"I think what she said and what I said are quite consistent," Ms Patterson says.

"I believe I would have told her about half."

Questioning turns to the leftovers recovered from a bin at Erin Patterson's Leongatha home
Joseph Dunstan profile image
By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers recaps that the court has previously heard those leftovers that were recovered were all of the leftovers of the beef Wellington, including scraped pastry and mushroom.

"I suggest that there were no leftovers from your serving of the beef Wellington at the lunch," Dr Rogers says.

Erin rejects it as incorrect.

so she doesn't have a matching set, but only "may be that everyone had different plates" why so wishy washy ...

Erin Patterson questioned about being sick after her guests left
Joseph Dunstan profile image
By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers then moves to another part of Ms Patterson's evidence, that she binge ate two-thirds of an orange cake and vomited shortly after the lunch guests had left.

"Your evidence ... is that sometime on that afternoon ... that you caused yourself to vomit, correct?" Dr Rogers asks.

"Correct," Erin replies.

"Is it your evidence that the vomit was partly constituted by the beef Wellington?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I have no idea what was in the vomit ... how could I? It's vomit. Unless you can see a bean or a piece of corn," Erin says.

"Well you didn't have corn at the lunch," Dr Rogers says.

"That was an example," Ms Patterson replies.

Erin Patterson is focused on the prosecutor during this fairly rapid line of questioning, blinking repeatedly.
