I am sure that if I was considering surgery or thought I had cancer, I would be able to remember what an appointment was for. Pretty big life events!

Out of interest, I wanted to confirm if the clinic in question even did offer Lipo. It appears so, although they stopped offering this in June 2024. Certainly no gastric bypass at the clinic from what I can tell.

We also need to remember that EP 'lost faith' in the medical system partly bc her son's knee was scanned incorrectly. She told staff they had scanned the wrong knee, and requested a scan of the other side. But now she is unable to recall whether her surgery was for a gastric band or liposuction?
There is so much lead up to any surgery- multiple consultations, scans, medical history review....IMO it is 99.9% improbable to confuse the two.

As someone mentioned earlier, the most bizarre thing is who does EP think will believe all of this?? It's verging on comedic at this point.

Prosecutor accuses Erin Patterson of lying

Dr Rogers then moves to the topic of what Erin Patterson told people about her consumption of beef Wellington in the days after the lunch.

"I don't agree that I ever said I only ate half," Ms Patterson says, later adding: "I didn't have a tape measure."

Dr Rogers puts to Erin Patterson that she's lying to the jury about vomiting after the lunch in a bid to downplay how much food she ate.

"I wish that was true, but it's not," Ms Patterson says.

Erin Patterson denies lying to medical staff about how much of beef wellington she ate

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC asks ErinPatterson about how much of her beef wellington she ate at the lunch.

Rogers suggests Patterson ate her whole portion of beef wellington at lunch but told Prof Rhonda Stuart, a doctor at Monash hospital, that she only ate half in an effort to explain to medical authorities why her symptoms were not as serious as the lunch guests.

“Incorrect,” Patterson says.

Pressed by Rogers that she previously gave evidence that she did not remember speaking to Stuart, Patterson maintains this is her evidence.

Rogers says Patterson told Katrina Cripps, a child protection worker, that she only ate half of her beef wellington.

Patterson says her memory is she ate “about half” of her beef wellington.

Yes cos it's commonplace when people say how much they ate of a plate of food, they whip out the tape measure.

Questions about how much Gail Patterson ate
Joseph Dunstan profile image
By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers then recaps that the court has previously heard another person at the lunch ate half their beef Wellington: Gail Patterson.

The court has heard Gail told multiple people, including medical staff, that she'd only eaten half of her portion of the beef Wellington.

But Erin agrees her evidence now is that Gail had eaten "quite a lot", but adds that "these are guesses".

"I suggest that you have told this jury that Gail ate quite a lot to try and explain away why she was so much sicker than you," Dr Rogers says.

Erin rejects the suggestion as incorrect.

OMG I hope she doesn’t claim it must have been one of the kids who searched iNaturalist!
she claims everyone else is a liar and has thrown everyone else under the bus. Why not the kids next? Self-preservation is her first and only concern IMO

Whether or not she is found guilty, whether or not she gets jail time, she's going to find herself very lonely after having isolated herself from every single person that would have supported her by blaming them instead of taking any responsibility for what happened.

Erin Patterson says she doesn't know what was in her vomit day of the lunch

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC says what ErinPatterson gave her children were not her leftovers of the lunch.

“Incorrect” says Patterson.

Rogers turns to Patterson’s evidence that after the lunch she binge ate about two thirds of an orange cake that her mother in law, GailPatterson, had brought to her house and then vomited.

Rogers asks if it is Patterson’s evidence that the vomit was “partly constituted by the beef wellington.”

Patterson says she has “no idea” what was in the vomit.

How could I? It’s vomit. Unless you can see a bean or a piece of corn.
Rogers says “you didn’t have corn at the lunch.”

“That was an example,” Patterson says.

I am beginning to wonder if she is mentally unwell. Not a criticism of those with mental illnesses, but she seems out of touch with reality.

Medical appointment queried

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC picks up her cross-examination right where she left off.

On Friday, Erin Patterson told the court she had had an appointment booked in at an "Enrich" clinic in Melbourne in early September, 2023.

The court hears the appointment was later cancelled.

"The Enrich clinic does not offer gastric-bypass surgery or gastric-sleeve surgery. Agree or disagree?" Dr Rogers asks Erin.

"I don't know," Ms Patterson replies. She says she's "puzzled" because she recalls having an appointment with them for gastric-bypass surgery.

"It would have been related to weight-loss surgery, perhaps it was a different procedure I was doing with them ... I was looking into liposuction as well," Ms Patterson says.

Dr Rogers puts to Ms Patterson that she lied to the court when she said she had an appointment at the clinic for gastric-band surgery.

"Not, it wasn't a lie, that's what my memory was," Ms Patterson says.

So the son is lying now too according to her.............. and she has black plates.

Rogers: “You served yourself on a coloured plate? Correct or incorrect?”

Patterson: “I didn’t serve myself at all.”

Patterson: “I don’t have five plates the same. So everyone would have had different plates. I don’t have four plates the same either.

Rogers said Patterson’s son gave evidence that when he returned to the house from the movies, he stacked white dishes up from the lunch and put them in the dishwasher.

Patterson said she didn’t have white dessert plates, and she believes her dessert plates are black.

Erin Patterson tells court she doesn't remember visiting the iNaturalist webite

Dr Rogers summarises Ms Patterson's evidence from last week about whether a visit to the iNaturalist site on May 28, 2022 was the "first time" she had visited the site.

"I don't remember ever visiting iNaturalist," Ms Patterson says.

"I suggest you were familiar with the iNaturalist website before this date, because you entered iNaturalist as the specific search term. Agree or disagree?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I would have to disagree," Ms Patterson says.

"Did you have an interest in death cap mushrooms on 28 May, 2022?" Dr Rogers asks.

"I have no idea," Ms Patterson says. "My only interest ever was to find out if they [were] in South Gippsland or not."

When asked if it was her who navigated the page that day, Ms Patterson replied: "Well somebody did. And that somebody could've been me."

Boy, this is how she's playing.... Can't remember anything..!

Erin Patterson disagrees with son’s evidence about what she told him about being sick the next day

By Joseph Dunstan

Dr Rogers then moves to the aftermath of the lunch and puts to Erin Patterson that she never told her son or daughter that she was sick on the Saturday.

She says she can't recall if she did or didn't tell either of them on the Saturday.

Dr Rogers then moves to evidence from Erin's son, who told the court that on the Sunday morning after the lunch, his mum was having coffee when he came downstairs. Erin says that's not true.

She's previously told the court she was drinking something like a lemon and ginger tea from a coffee mug.

But she disagrees with evidence from her son, who the court has previously heard recalled his mother telling him they couldn't go to church that morning. "Disagree," Erin says.

"My memory of that conversation is very different. Would you like to hear it?" Erin asks. Dr Rogers replies she would.

Ms Patterson says she got up and checked on her son's bedroom, but he was already downstairs lying on the couch, and he told her he had a "sore tummy" and asked if they could skip church.

“I suggest that that’s a lie,” Dr Rogers said.

“It’s not,” Ms Patterson replied.

Totally! She had years to prepare for her witness account but yet can’t even put together a believable and complete story regarding her alledged impending surgery.

omg, why would the son lie? I mean, one reason I could see would be to protect his mother. Having said that, why wouldn't you let your stories align?! Instead she's more than happy to throw him under the "Everyone is a Liar" bus she's got the pedal to the metal on.

Bit hard to concoct a story in hindsight when you don't have clear evidence of GP visit/referral/surgeon appointment...

Court takes a morning break

By Joseph Dunstan

The prosecutor moves the questioning to a trip to Tyabb made by Erin and the children the day after the lunch.

The court's previously heard the trip was made for a planned flying lesson for Erin's son, which was ultimately cancelled due to poor weather.

It's decided this is a good time for a break, so the hearing is briefly adjourned.

Erin Patterson repeatedly accused of lying about lunch by prosecution

Prosecutor Nanette Rogers SC says ErinPatterson’s son gave evidence that she did not tell him she was sick on the day of the lunch.

“I don’t know if I did or I didn’t,” Patterson says.

She says she would not have shared that with her son’s friend.

Rogers says Patterson’s daughter gave evidence that she believed her mother began to feel sick the day after the lunch.

Patterson says she doesn’t know if she told her daughter she was sick on the day of the lunch.

Rogers says Patterson’s son also gave evidence that he saw his mother on the Sunday - the day after the lunch - drinking coffee in the morning.

Patterson says her son is mistaken.

Patterson’s son said his mother said she was feeling unwell and had diarrhoea. He said his mother reported waking up during the night to use the toilet and said they may not be able to go to church that morning.

Patterson says her memory of this conversation is “very different.”

She says she came downstairs and found her son in the TV room.

The first thing he said to me was something like: I’ve got a sore tummy...
Patterson says her son said “can we not go to church?”.

Patterson says her son was the first person to raise not attending church on Sunday.

“I suggest that’s a lie,” Rogers says.

“It’s not,” Patterson says.

Is this oppositional personality disorder or contrary personality disorder (not sure if this is even a disorder) because it seems like no matter what is said, she opposes it. It’s baffling to see. 🥹
