Life non parole period 33 years. - ABC live stream
At least she’ll be 83 before she even has a chance to apply for parole. I’m disappointed in the concurrent sentences.

Justice Beale gives judgement

By Judd Boaz

He notes that a non-parole period may be appropriate for someone even if they have committed several murders.

He asks Patterson to stand and delivers his judgement.

ABC Australia is showing it live. Not sure if it can be seen offshore:

Yes! I got to watch it live here in the US, although my wifi cut out a couple of times. It's 5:20pm here on Sunday evening.

She got the maximum sentences, non parole period is too soft, IMO

Her Defence asked for 30 years. I hope the setting of the non-parole period means she won't appeal. Her victims deserve peace.

Erin Patterson glares at reporters in court

By

Erin Patterson has opened her eyes briefly and glared towards the media when the judge said she would remain a notorious prisoner for many years due to the intense media coverage.

“I infer that given the unprecedented media coverage of your case and the books, documentaries and TV series about you, which are all in the pipeline, you are likely to remain a notorious prisoner for many years to come, and as such, remain at significant risk from other prisoners.”

25 + LIFE + LIFE + LIFE = LIFE

Not by any sensible mathematics it doesn't.

Our system leaves a lot to be desired.

  • #692
was hoping for LWOP.

  • #693
She showed no mercy to her victims and she likewise should receive no mercy now in sentencing IMO

I wish Beale would’ve said ‘Erin open your eyes and look at me when I’m talking to you!’
It's like la-la-la I don't hear you!

Yes, and the served concurrently BS.

Just because of prison conditions. Maybe JB should have asked for her to be guaranteed to be in solitary confinement for the rest of her term since the setting of a non-parole period sentencing was based on assumption that she "could" be in solitarily confinement for the rest of her term.

Terrible terrible case.
I don't know how this monstrous woman lives with herself.

Bedtime for me now! Pleased I tuned in though, that was an interesting and at times moving watch. I have enjoyed, if that is the right word, following the case with you all here.

Agreed! Who cares if she has to life her life in solitary confinement??? He said she is the worst of the worst and chose not to socialize with the few people she could. She will re-offend given the chance when she's 83. I think the other prisoners ARE in danger from her. She should have gotten LWOP- no chance at parole for her crimes. Aussies, you need to change your laws IMHO.

It doesn't feel like she got compound sentences.

Multiple murders should be multiple lifes. 33 + 33 + 33.
