This is my wish for Robert Harrod at this time>>>
that each of us take some time to contact Placentia Police Dept, Orange Cty Register,
and any other media outlets.
We can email, smail mail, phone, anything to have Robert Harrod's missing person case refreshed.

It would be good if family could organize a vigil about the same time...
July 27..., up to them, of course.

All his case needs is one person, who saw something, maybe slightly out of the ordinary, but by now feels they should tell someone about it.

Adam Townsend was the reporter that did the article about my Dad that I posted "Placentia Man does the Wave". We got to be pretty friendly. I will email him tomorrow and see if I can find something out OR at least let him know we are all standing together in hopes of finding out more about our Bob! Also, the Mayor of Placentia is a family friend of ours. Would it be inappropriate for me to call him and ask him if he knows anything about the case?

I think at this point finding out what happened to Mr. Harrod needs all the help anyone can give.

I heard back right away from Adam this morning. I had forgotten he had been moved to Fullerton CA right after he did the first story about my dad and Jessica Terrell had done the following two stories about his recovery. She is now covering Placentia and he was going to forward my email to her. He said he thought the PPD were still stumped but he thought it was about time to do a follow up!! Will post when I hear from Jessica...She's a sweetheart!

Perhaps the mayor could help to clarify. Good idea.
The police seem pretty tight lipped and they have two separate families in several states, their relatives, and friends to investigate, before they will even show their hands and possibly tip-off person(s) of interest. It is not like television, police can't tell reporters the whole story of an ongoing investigation. Has anybody really been cleared? You never know. Investigators are probably patiently waiting and watching activities, while investigating multiple motives or, to see who gains the most the soonest. Under-informed questions and opinions are still repeating themselves, while other inquiring minds are intelligently thinking outside the box. The obvious isn't always the answer. Have faith and hang tight. The truth is somewhere and that is the reward for patience.

I'm sorry, I think the only way we will find Mr. Harrod is if someone stumbles across him. I hope and pray that happens because there is someone that needs closure, and to lay his body to rest.

This man did NOT walk away...and to suggest that is demeaning to him and insulting. He was starting a new life, and by all accounts he was thrilled about it..operative word here...HE was thrilled. I am so tired of these theories that he walked/hitchhiked/flew/ etc to get away from this rash decision he made. Sorry, but at his age (thinking about how much I have changed and learned and I am 50) he is not going to waste one moment of his precious time on the run or hiding...Give me a break!!!

Sorry for the rant!!!

Has Bob's info been entered by LE into any of the missing adult sites? Also Namus?

If not, then we can ask LE to do that? What do you all think?

No worries suzy! I think most of us agree that Bob is no longer among the living. It's just the how that came to pass on which we don't always see eye-to-eye.

This case is soooooooo frustrating!

Ok - I was thinking today about how we've come by much of what we know - that I recall.

We know that the family "meeting" the night before Bob went missing became heated. That information came from the daughters.

We know that the daughters wanted their mother's trust documents. That information also came from the daughters - along with the tidbit that Bob had been stalling in giving them that information for quite some time.

We know that there was little love lost between father and daughters since their mother had passed. That information came from the daughters.

We know that Bob had a seemingly questionable relationship with the barber woman - which they had investigated. That information came from the daughters.

See what I mean? Why would Bob's killers put out all of this negative info if they had something to hide? Wouldn't they put a more lovey-dovey spin on it if they killed their father?

That's what just doesn't sit right with me. There are other things that don't make sense to me - that have nothing to do with the daughters. But I won't go into them now.

Aug 11, 2009 (no link): “There was a family meeting on Sunday, it was heated at times, there were NO threats and we all left on good terms

Oct 8, 2009 (OC Register article): His daughter, Roberta, said her father lost his temper. She said he had failed to provide copies of their mother's will, which he was obligated to do because of the financial mechanisms set up by the estate. "It wasn't a heated meeting," she said in a phone interview. "Dad got heated. He's very selfish, very conditional. The day before he went missing in the afternoon, he was going to provide us copies of the will, and we went over to get the copies. He didn't have them."

Feb 2, 2010 (LA Times Article): The four argued about money, police say. According to Fontelle, Bob said his daughters became upset when he told them he planned to include his new wife in the estate. According to court filings, his daughters estimated Bob had property and savings worth at least $1 million.

My comment: Fact: Bob spoke to Fontelle that evening. Speculation: Bob told Fontelle there WERE threats made on Sunday after he told daughters he planned to include Fontelle in the estate. Fontelle gave this information to the PPD when interviewed. The Aug 11 post by the one daughter was made to make it seem like things ended on a positive note before they left, because they were confronted by PPD with information about what happened when they went over. The other daughter then tried to put the blame on Bob in the Oct interview, saying that HE got heated. IMO
We know that there was little love lost between father and daughters since their mother had passed. That information came from the daughters.

We know that Bob had a seemingly questionable relationship with the barber woman - which they had investigated. That information came from the daughters.
Oct 8, 2009 (OC Register article): The three daughters told police initially they suspected Bob Harrod's barber – a woman who attended their mother's funeral in 2008 – of some connection with the disappearance. Police have cleared the barber and her husband of any connection with the case.

My comment: IMO, they were trying to throw suspicion on the barber woman, that she was responsible for what happened to Bob. They went after her full-force. It didn’t work.

Comments in blue above added by me.
To repeat my earlier speculation, they posted a lot of information on the other forum over several months, and for the most part, it went unquestioned over there. IMO, they did so because they:

1) Had a captive audience on the forum who were lapping up their every word - they got caught up in the attention and sympathy
2) Were trying to throw suspicion elsewhere
3) Had no idea their posts would ever be scrutinized
4) Thought they were smarter than everyone else and got careless

IMO, I don’t think they killed their father. I think they covered after the fact for the person who did.

Thank you cloudajo. Just sayin' - "Accordingly to Fontelle" doesn't cut it for me either.

  • #493
To put it bluntly, there are some that saw their mealticket sliding away. Some people do not adapt well to change.Fontelle had nothing to gain from any of this. To me she is out of the loop.

Everything we "know" is from the daughters or Fontelle...I for one am more inclined to believe Fontelle. I believe everything we have heard from daughters is manufactured, and that they have an agenda.. JMHO!

BBM

This is simply not true. She has already gained and has put into action a plan to gain even more.

She was not destitute, and she is not some bimbo armcandy after some old guy's money. If I heard that my new husband's daughter said,"" He's very selfish, very conditional." among other disparaging comments, I think I might do anything to stop them from profiting. In the beginning they were all together...something happened to make her change the locks.

Unfortunately there is nothing documented for us to go by...its she said/they said. We all go by our guts...this is mine.

Do you know Fontelle? I don't know anything about her outside of what I've read and seen in the news reports. Those reports have focused on the "sweet, romantic, love" story of Bob and Fontelle. They have hardly been unbiased.

Nope...I guess I know as much as you do, from the same reports. I watched the same video, where Bob has this cute, goofy smile on his face...he looks happy and in love.

When I started reading the daughters' posts on the other site (did you ever read them?) I became disturbed and uncomfortable. These were not comments I would expect to read...THEY came off as selfish, self-absorbed and resentful. For God's sake their father was GONE and they are *****ing about the money?

Their demeanors and actions (or inaction) leave alot to be desired, IMO.

Another concept to think of: None of the Above
Others, who did not think ahead to copy threads, could be forming their own opinions of what was written, had the comments not been deleted. Was it clear which family requested or anticipated the removal?
If police find None of the Above to be fact, that will shatter alot of these obsessive public forum statements. IMHO
I don't think anyone would have wanted to be in the shoes of any one of these ladies' (daughters or wife) for the world, with a father missing, a new husband missing, numerous sincerely concerned people posting along side of another crew of strangers mouthing off in forums as if they knew the missing man or either family. The 50-something daughters knew him all of their lives and the new wife knew him for, what was it, less than two weeks, before getting married. IMHO: A pre-teen story with its 60-year absence in between and wanting to get to know the man, now an 80-something stranger, makes more sense in my logical world than the claim of knowing him. Weigh the difference. Police silence could indicate either a cold case or a hot trail. I hope they respond to press follow up requests, as nothing new is reported in months.

Yes, I was on the other site the whole time they were posting. They definitely laid it all out there. They didn't seem "stupid" to me. Like they wouldn't have known their comments would be out there in cyberspace for all the world to see. But who knows? They may very well have been using it as a medium to spin the tale their way.

I do not disagree with those who suspect the daughters. But I just see other suspicious behavior as well. Things are rarely what they seem, in my experience.

Well, we are on Websleuths...this is what we do. We look at whatever information we have, and develop theories. Right? If this is not correct then why come onto this site? I think the majority of people here really care and are tired of the violence that happens in this world. Some missing folks need a "voice" and they have it here. If this rubs some people the wrong way then so be it.
