thanks Zwie- just got to try to get it out there, still working on some stuff in that regard- getting the flyer/bolo out there

Okay- I got off on a tangent, Samantha Runnion was found app. an hour away from her home...and that location/area is an hour from Placentia too- up off of Ortega Highway (33.652209, -117.408831) heading to Lake Elsinore. Once I realized where she was found, it did make me go hmmm...as I am sure it was in the news big time back then.....

It was huge news then. Not just tv/radio either. Everywhere, including posted on telephone poles, in public buildings, on exterior walls like graffiti etc...

and imagine that, with a tad of creativity and thought, one wouldn't even have to get on the 5 or 241 toll

I hadn't heard of Samantha's case. I looked it up. Didn't know it was a little girl. :( There is a pic of the graffitti here; http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/photogallery/runnion.html

It was her five-year old friend who helped identify the man who hurt Samantha and his car. A little tot - who did everything she could to help her lost friend.

Does anyone think the man's death listed here, without any details (last on the present list, case number 13 02754 M)
http://ws.ocsd.org/EServices/PressReleases_Default.aspx

Is likely to be this young man here? I've tried to work out if the dates match up and think they do. Or is that unlikely? I'm just wondering why no details are listed at all apart from gender and date.

hmm that county over there is Los Angleles County- so imho that case isn't connected

but that case I guess is in Orange county , city of, since Orange PD is listed agency
dod is 7/3/13...maybe a transient or iilegal?

Let's see what we can do to get more WS peeps to share the info...I feel like I can give up some of the real estate in my siggy now that Emma Thompson and her suffering was recognized with a law in her name. :(

I am compiling the list for all the groups. organizations, forums, blogs...anything I can find that has anything to do with outdoor activities...in order to get out the BOLO for Mr. H info that i am putting together..I will earnestly try to find the right contact for each.
If any of you have any in particular you would like to have included, in case I don't have them already, can you post.....here or down in SAR?
I hope to be able to send the flyer and a cover letter of sorts, as least that is the plan:)

Mr. H !! I so hope that the right person will be in the right place and find you , so you can come home, no matter what.

Hey believe, can we put a FB link in our user title or signature???

Thanks for asking.

Currently, physically; much better.
Long-term; will know this week, we hope.
As a patient; ermmm, he's as good at being a patient as I am at being a nurse.

It's made me think of Mr Harrod looking after his first wife. I'm beginning to appreciate how difficult it must have been for him. And of course it's never just a question of money - the most luxurious nursing home can seem like a very poor second choice with a person who just wants to stay at home. And I suppose the idea of a home nurse - even a wonderful one - can seem like an intrusion until there is time to adjust and accept. The more I think about it, the more unusual it seems that Bob was able to care for his sick spouse, given his age.

Perhaps he was lucky though. Perhaps his relatives were able to provide round the clock help between them. That's a consoling thought, if true.

That is another reason I identify with Bob so closely. He's within a week of age of my father... who cared for my mother at home until a week before her death, when she went into hospice.

They had a visiting nurse and visiting physical therapist but mostly it was my dad caring for her.

When I was trapped in the extended care facility last spring, there was a truly terrible day when he sent me an email telling me that his life was hollow, pointless and he wished only to join my mother. Part of it was anniversary effect (it was right after their wedding anniversary).

My uncle, my father's youngest brother, made an inspired suggestion that seems to have pulled my dad out of the depression. He suggested my dad get himself a new car. My father has an elderly Mazda (over 20 years old) that he adores and believes to be the most perfect car on earth, so he didn't want to get a new car for himself. So my crazy uncle suggested buying ME a new car!!! I was stunned, particularly when my dad threw himself into the project with zeal. But my sister called me and told me not to turn down the offer, that in her judgment it was just what my father needed.

I mean, get well presents are a tradition in my family but they're usually CDs or some such thing rather than new cars.

It worked, though. My dad compared car reports, got a list of my requirements, visited a bunch of car dealers and generally compiled an avalanche of data, out of which emerged a new full sized Chevy.

Maybe at some point in Bob's mourning period, there came a time when he wanted to turn his mind to helping someone else. And his family supported him, recognising that sometimes what eases depression and grief is to reach out to help someone else.

...or maybe they resented everything Bob did that didn't direct money in their direction. KWIM?

I think you hit the nail on the head there Grainne. I hope she'll forgive the metaphor, but Fontelle was Bob's gorgeous new chevy, imo. From the little direct writing/speech we have from him, it's obvious he cherished her and was doing everything he could to make sure she would be happy, comfortable and having fun. He was looking at his life and working out where it needed improving for her, and the knock-on effect was to improve life for himself too.

Thanks to Fontelle, Bob came out of his grieving process stronger, happier and with a renewed interest in life and the future. Sadly, I don't think that pleased everyone. Someone had already written him off, long before he disappeared, in my opinion.

*Off to the hospital now, wish me luck. Moving Mr Z without a wheelchair is going to be like moving a mountain. By hand.

Oh dear. Don't know where all the luck's gone. Perhaps it's all headed towards the search for Bob, in which case I don't mind. Poor Mr Z's gone from thinking he might have to have an op, to discussing which bits of metal will be used to hold all the bits of bone together.

Never mind, I'm sure I'll be able to find something to keep him occupied during the long rehab.

I've noticed Bob's new fb page isn't in WS's fb thread, so I'm going to put it there now.

I know the danger of associating Bob's case with other missing seniors and leading people to think he just wandered off ( he did not in the opinion of Police, who are investigating his death as a homicide), but...

If you want to see an example of what a family can do when they really fear a loved one has wandered off, confused, look at Hellen Cook's new fb page;

https://www.facebook.com/FindHellenCook?ref=nf

Overnight (mine anyhow) it has been stuffed with information and pictures, stressing how much Hellen is loved. A weekend of events and searches has already been arranged, family are appealing for help from everyone, everywhere, the tiniest details are being supplied that might help find her, right down to a joke Hellen may respond to if she doesn't recognise her name. Everyone is stressing her crucial role in the family, as a loving wife, mom and grandma - and an entire search team has been set up in Wisconsin and a pic of their office has been posted, with a request for more searchers to share their photos! That's just the half of it - I've lost count of the number of media articles the children and husband have generated in just a few days.

In the latest news article, her heartbroken husband has said he fears Hellen will be forgotten if he doesn't keep that picture out there. I don't think there is any chance of that, with Hellen's family on the case. But I really cannot help wondering what that family would make of Bob's case, and the 'search actions' taken by Bob's children, in the days following his disappearance.

I did a little comparison in my head, and the efforts of Bob's blood relations really come out unfavorably. Perhaps they just do things differently in Missouri, from California. In my opinion, there is only one family member of Bob's whose efforts can compare, and that's Fontelle's.

I'm sorry to say it, but it looks like Bob's children expended their strongest efforts on Bob's estate, at the expense of the search for Bob. If another missing anniversary is allowed to pass unmarked, it will add yet another glaring omission to the list. I'm still holding onto the faint hope they will arrange an event this year, but there isn't much time left now.....has anyone spotted any signs of activity out there?

Lol, I have to add I meant activity by Bob's children - I know our posters are popping up everywhere, trying to get the word out!

Here's the forum with the fb threads;
MySpace & Facebook for the Missing - Websleuths Crime Sleuthing Community

I haven't put the useless one in, but I can if anyone thinks it's worth it.

BBM-the only reason I suggested avoiding the daughters useless facebook page is because of the confusion it causes lol. I will leave it to your judgement as to whether or not it should be included as part of the recovery effort here. :D

I love our current multi pronged approach to Bob's case. The higher his profile, the better, and we can hopefully satisfy a number of different audiences with the different social media angles out there right now.

How is this going, zwie? I shattered my leg once upon a time and the bits were all held together with ten inch plates and screws...all were titanium.

  • #399
I'm not going to put the facebook page administered by Bob's daughter in the links. I'll just leave the two good ones there as they are. I don't want any confusing the good two with the old, useless one.

Mr Z's going to be a titanium man too - exactly how much metal we'll only know Monday, after he's operated on. He hasn't lost the gift of the gab for trying to talk his way out of any medical procedures he doesn't like, so I guess he's doing okay.....does the metal set off airport alarms?
