I found it odd that stepdad was telling us what happened, but then would add "I'm guessing", like he remembered he wasn't supposed to know.

Also bothered by a silent sliding door. Granted I've only lived in 3 homes, but all of the sliding doors have been heavy and you could literally feel them open/ close even upstairs.

In tiny, old trailers I'd think every think every sound and movement would be more obvious. 🤷‍♀️

Mr. Martell speaks to The Globe and Mail about what happened on the morning the children went missing: “Lily came into the room multiple times. I seen her that morning and Jack was out playing in the kitchen, I’m guessing, and they slid open the back sliding door. It’s almost like silent to hear it sliding. They slid it open – the boots were right beside the door and they proceeded to, I’m guessing, playing outside. They must’ve got out through the back fence and then they were gone.
Eh, I've lived in some pretty cheapo housing, and I could see this being a thing if it's not double paned.

Has there been any info out that the couple own dogs? I'm wondering if they do own dogs, where are they? I'm thinking the dogs would have followed the children.
No, there's been no info about that. Not sure why'd you'd assume they have them.

This happened to me, too. She was still in a crib, even. Apparently she climbed out, let her self out, and went on an adventure "like Dora". The worst hour and a half of my life.
It happens more often than we’d like to admit. It never happened to me, but a woman I know had a kid that was a getaway genius. She had to install locks upon locks upon locks to keep her son in the house. And lotsof kids aren’t great sleepers, and will get into lots of trouble while an exhausted parent sleeps. Ask me how I know all about that!
Still….asleep at 10am, with three kids who are 6 and under doesn’t sound right to me.

We don't know they were "still" asleep. They may have just gone to lay down.

There's been a ton of speculation on that. For all we know, they were up with baby (or Jack, or Lily) off and on through the night. Or they were up themselves for other reasons on and off, and just dozing back off on a lazy morning they already knew they weren't getting the kids ready for school due to Lily's cough, and knew DM wouldn't be going to work since (as previously reported in MSM) he was down to 1 shift a week at the mill.

There could be countless, perfectly innocent reasons that's where the parents were when they realized the kids were missing.

I do feel there may be information that's missing ?
Have LE talked to DM's mother ?
Did she hear the two outside playing that morning ?
Etc.

Emphasis mine.
Was that linked in the first thread ?
It prolly was-- I'll have to go & look. 😊

About the bolded, wouldn't it be normal to work only one shift a week, say, 1st,2nd, or 3rd ?
Or was that one day a week, on his particular shift ?
I'm asking that at myself, as if that was the case DM wouldn't be too exhausted, then, since he'd have some down time ?
Imo.

The kids are part of the Sipekne’katik First Nation

Getting a 911 response out here takes literally hours. I assume they checked the immediate property, then did the call and broader search. You guys don't understand this area and I'm trying so hard to make it clear.

trying to figure out how to capture to quote!

They are in reservation territory. I’m looking for the name of the Reservation and can’t put my fingers on it, yet. Their LE was first involved and responded. Then the case was handed over, officially, to the RCMP. Don’t quote me, but this is my understanding per the recent update I read about the RCMP taking over.
No no they don’t live on a Rez.
Daniel Martell is not native at all and this is his familial home. Not on a reservation at all.

It’s just very rural. But the RCMP detachment in Stellarton is only about a 20 minute drive away so they are NOT that isolated where emergency services would take hours to arrive.

I have property in Guysborough County which is just southeast of this area and is actually even more rural than this area. Like we actually have to drive up to Antigonish for the big store shopping and services and sometimes stop for pizza and donairs in Stellarton or Pictou County pizza for a treat

Communities like this are very small and insular but neighbours will gather and help in situations like this

There are innocent reasons for a lot of the things being discussed. The being in bed late, 4 year-old in pull-ups (new or old), if a kid would close a door behind them or take a backpack, staying home from school for a cough etc.

But, all these little things are certainly piling up.

Bottom line: not one, but two children are missing seemingly into thin air, after not being seen in public since the Tuesdat before the 911 call.

I can't recall exactly when it was posted but it was said in such a way that meant 1 day per week. It's a common thing here to say "shift" when you mean days. Example: often with kids in highschool they'll be scheduled for evenings, 3-5 shifts (days) a week.

It became more common to say shift instead of day, due to so many companies adopting new schedules (afternoons, overnights, rotating & continental shifts). Hubby worked rotating continental for 25+ years & it just evolved into saying "shifts".

I live in a pretty solid old house, where you cannot hear every sound, but you can hear our sliding door.

Households in rural areas usually do have dogs as pets. I was hoping that the dog, if there was one, followed them. JMO

They certainly wanted to make sure we knew it was silent.

Which seems an unnecessary detail. If two tired parents drifted off to sleep for a few minutes and couldn't hear the kids put on shoes and go outside to play, no one would question if they heard a door open or not.

Another option to access Globe & Mail articles free (& legally!) online is via your local library's website: look for Canadian Newstream or Pressreader. G&M is on both of those. You just need your library card number. If your library doesn't have them, they may offer a similar service but with a different name. I'm in BC Canada & can see the Timeline article this way (though note it's text-only).

It appears a debrief video I was watching late last night catching up on the case was probably an investigative team used by the RCMP, like ground search, saying their efforts were drawing to a close and were handing back to the RCMP.

However, the Sipekne’katik community can call the Emergency Management Office in case of emergency. The children are part of the Sipekne’katik tribe via their maternal grandfather per the CBC link below. It doesn’t appear this was the case as the mom said she called 911.
Emergency Management Office — Sipekne'katik

Not sure if that specific area has their own regional police since it appears the RCMP has been on this case since the beginning and the spokes person for the Municipality was the wardon.

CBC reports the RCMP did say they received a call around 10am. So that has been confirmed.

I think they might have been inquiring; and not assuming ?
About the sar dogs if they were used -- should've been used the first day.
Later msm indicated hrd dogs, but haven't found much to indicate the use of sar dogs that first, crucial day ?
With the pull up Jack was wearing, there should've been a strong scent trail.

Wonder if LE ever found a scent trail leading out from the compound (double wide trailer and the camper); showing that the kids did leave on foot ?
Do we know for absolutely certain they left walking ?

We don't even know for absolutely certain they left the trailer at all. Jmo.
