Many Australians like to think that we can provide safe haven to people fleeing from war torn countries or those looking for a better life.

You have sports announcers like pat macafee that have said some things in respect of the booing of the anthems.
He's always got drama on his show. But we get it. Unfortunately the 4 nation games got ugly with the booing and both Canada and USA anthems then the beaking off of players on both sides to the media . That led to a lot of backlash . Canadians are ticked at Gretzky and Bobby Orr , trump made it worse with Gretzky .I don't think Gretzky will ever get the respect he got from Canadians back. I would never of thought Canada and USA relations would ever get to this..I'm having a hard time with this because I don't like sounding anti America because I'm not , but anti trump and the tariffs and the 51st state comments , how do we respond with out looking anti American. It's all just a huge cluster <modsnip> jmooPat has generated a lot of drama for his actions. He has a way of being deliberately vague, like someone else we know, so that he can claim plausible deniability and shirk accountability.
At the WWE event he was part of he stated:
"It kind of sucks that it's in the terrible country of Canada that booed our national anthem to start this entire thing," McAfee shouted at the broadcast table.
Later, on a podcast he stated, "my reaction when someone boos the nation anthem is..." and then posed for a moment

One can easily interpret that pose to imply violence. And people did. Some people responded with violence by threatening his life.
Now Pat can increase his rhetoric because he is, afterall, a victim of violence (which he started).
We see this same tactic being used to demonize Zelenskyy for not wanting to agree to a crappy deal for Ukraine. So now he "doesn't want peace"

Yep.gretzky didn't even rep a Canadian jersey.. and to give the Canada team red be great caps I hope players tossed those in the trash .the fall out in the NHL is ugly. I'm wondering if that's why the tkachuks are both on injured lists ,I wonder how the Canadian team mates are with them. I never thought I'd see hockey so politicized. To be fair, Gretzky's behaviour at that game was pompous and disrespectful. I will spend the rest of my life believing that Trump convinced him to do what he did as a way of trolling us.
Anyways, I don't think they should have the anthems at sports games. They didn't before the second world war. Besides, most teams are made up of players of varying nationalities.

A few years ago, we saw massive protests across the USA based on race and equality. Last year, we saw the same massive protests based on protecting Hamas and Gaza. Some protests resulted in vandalism of private property, smash and grab, arson, occupation of public property and buildings, and more. This was all live-streamed, and it went on for months. People in the USA had something to say and they stood up for what they believe. He's always got drama on his show. But we get it. So true. I hope they realize what trump is doing and how the world is viewing them. I feel like this is going to get so much worse. I hope we can get threw this without bloodshed .A few years ago, we saw massive protests across the USA based on race and equality. Today, I see comments that some other dude voted for Donald and, even though people are worried about potential political corruption and authoritarian invasion of sovereign countries, there's nothing to be done. Where are all those outspoken voices today - the ones who want to protect warring Hamas from retaliation? Are they not somewhat concerned about their government today?
On International Women's Day yesterday, Canadians in Montreal protested against Donald. There was no looting, but they had something to say about Donald's erosion of women's rights in the USA. Canadians seem to have more to say about the loss of rights to USA women than they do.
Canadians are not anti-USA, but they bewildered that the USA population appears complacent about the war they started with their closest ally.

uh why not use what each have...i take your cream then you can take my cream???From what I understand, the US might import some Canadian cream during ice cream season. Likewise, Canada might occasionally import cream from the US. I don't believe that fluid milk crosses the border from Canada into the US with the exception of emergency supplies of milk formula for babies.
