I feel nothing but sadness when I look at his photo. It's all just heartbreaking. He had so much promise, every possible advantage, and threw it all away....ruined so many lives. It's very sad.

I have not ridden Greyhound in over 45 years. During that ride, I noticed most of the people on my ride from Daytona to Tallahassee appeared to have been recently released from prison or drunk.

I thought of taking Greyhound for a trip recently, but when I read that toilets didn't work on a trip that was going through some pretty barren areas, I said, "No thanks". The reviews were horrible.

I remember I sent my son on the bus when I didn't want him driving 500 miles. Guys would proposition him for drugs. I think it's a pretty motley crew on the bus. I don't think passengers are much "in tune" to "true crime" BOLO etc.

yes! I took Greyhound across the length of PA several times during college and there were recently released prisoners on the bus during each of my trips. No one was going to bother Luigi on the Greyhound.

I practice criminal law in the tri-state area, and extradition between states is routine. There is no basis to extradite someone to another state before charges are filed. My guess on why charges haven’t been filed yet? He was just identified this morning (LE did not know his name prior), and NYPD and prosecutors had to travel to Altoona to question him. I’d expect charges to be filed in the next day or so, though.

I get the impression from his manifesto online ("I will resist them at all costs" or whatever it was) that he assumed he would be taken out by the police. That he'd have more time to fight back when they did get to him, not that they'd catch him off-guard in a Micky D's.

The care is multi-faceted. It needs approval from different entities. If you are a big time super billionaire you can make things happen and you have the power to get things done, If your procedure is $200,000 and you want to self-pay with cash in the US, you still need to get past the liabilities involved with each person involved with that procedure. This takes time, and obviously you need the procedure asap. And additional costs, legal, for instance.

You can buy insurance with high copay and generous coverage if you have money. Even if your insurance refuses to pay for a procedure, you can always pay out of pocket as long as you are covered by some insurance (meaning you are not a customer with 0 coverage).

I'm guessing they did but police couldn't locate him until the McDonald's tip came in.

In the early days after the Starbucks pics' release, there was a lot of talk about his nose. He sure does seem to have a prominent schnoz.

I think there is no need to rush now. They can wait for DNA and fingerprints (now that they have his on file) and they can tie up any loose ends before charging him. They don't have to worry about him getting bail or being released until dec 23 so why not make sure you have an airtight case before charging?

That's a question many people are asking. An innocent explanation is that they never imagined he'd do something like that, so they saw a resemblance but didn't think there was any way it could be him. We know his family had been looking for him for a while, even reaching out to his friends. And many of his friends had been looking for him too. He appears to have become a ghost well before this happened.

Other than knowing the answer to that question, I'd like to know where he was during the past few days in Pennsylvania. He moved around quite a bit.

I agree with the statements. We aren’t Russia. And Kaczynski isn’t a hero for the same reason this guy should not be.

People can affect change by voting, talking to others (politely) and working hard at things like helping others to become informed, donating money, helping others to vote and becoming personally involved in local politics.

Because things sometimes go wrong in surgeries, particularly to the spine. IF a patient ends up on life support for decades. and insurance has not covered the procedure, the hospital could be left holding the bag and bankrupted due to the costs (magnified by any number of similar cases)

Mangione being held at state prison in Huntingdon​

Luigi Mangione is being held at State Correctional Institution Huntingdon, in the Pennsylvania city of the same name, until his next court appearance, a spokesperson for the state Department of Corrections said.

Huntingdon, around 32 miles by road east of Altoona where Mangione was arrested this morning, has a capacity of 1,869 inmates.

A judge in Blair County denied bail for Mangione after a preliminary arraignment on gun, forgery and other charges.

A preliminary hearing in Pennsylvania is scheduled for Dec 23. Mangione could also be charged in New York, where police have called him a person of interest in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson last week.

Just a guess--because they never dreamed it could be him.

If he looked like someone I knew, but I didn't think the person I knew was remotely capable of what he did, I would just write it off as an uncanny resemblance.

Unless that person had been complaining about UHC, then I might make the connection.

Edited to add: he was out of context. Like when you see someone from work in a place that's not work, it sometimes takes a second to figure out where you know them from.
