Toxic ideology leads to a polluted brain. Or more simply, water is wet.

If you look at his X account, this guy was not a leftist anticapitalist. He's retweeting some of the favorite talking points of the right: feminists are feminizing men. He also encouraged his followers to read a thread about the fall of the Roman Empire that traced its decline to it becoming a welfare state. His X account comes across as very arrogant and verging on Men's Rights talking points. Far from a left wing anticapitalist.

I am certain this guy went off the deep end recently. Could be triggered by drugs, a traumatic event, or more likely, a simmering mental health issue. But I'm not a doc so I can't diagnose. I expect we'll hear that he had been becoming more unhinged for a period of months or years.
He RTed and commented on an interesting blend of content on his X account. Lots of posts about the success of civilization/society (fall of Roman Empire content, etc), and some commentary on gender/gender roles (childlessness, masculinity), and psychedelics. He followed Joe Rogan, RFK Jr., Andrew Huberman. Admittedly, I can't see the full list of who he followed, though, - only verified followers which is a likely biased subset of followers these days.

I agree he seems far from a left wing anticapitalist.
I'm stereotyping a bit based on people I know... but his public X content is giving me vibes of a young, smart person who would consider themself a critical and free thinker, when really all of their thoughts seem to align with the Mens Rights / right wing personalities. I know a few of these folks in real life.
IMO.

PLEASE READ.
STOP WITH THE SPECULATION ON HIS SEXUALITY. IT DOES NOT MATTER. MOVE ON. YES, I AM ANGRY. THIS IS UNNECESSARY.

Replying to my own post because I just noticed the gun. That appears to be your standard Glock style ghost gun knockoff. It has to be the most common variety on the market.

So that means there was not veterinarian type gun, and this weapon was in fact jamming. That was would have been thanks to the suppressor (silencer).
Exactly right.....but the gun jams and he calmly keeps walking towards BT while he clears the jam......hard for me to believe this guy was an amateur...

There is no way his family members didn’t know that was him imo

Agree. I said before I thought his parents probably tipped him in, but if it's true they only learned of his name today, I guess not. Unless the whole family was off the grid on vacation for the last week, they had to have known that was him. Will be interesting to find out if they'd been trying to get in touch with him.

As always, JMO.

Synopsis from today:

  • How he was found: The suspect was “sitting there eating” at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, when an employee of the restaurant recognized him and called police, NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny said. He credited the tip to the wide circulation of a photo the NYPD released last week of the person without a mask on.
  • Remember: The suspect was believed to have left New York City on an interstate bus, police officials said last week, after video cameras captured him entering the George Washington Bridge Bus Station on 178th Street but not exiting it.
  • More evidence: When he was searched by local police, the suspect was found carrying multiple fraudulent IDs, a US passport, a firearm and suppressor “consistent with the weapon used in the murder,” New York City Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said. Kenny said the gun was a ghost gun “that had the capability of firing a 9mm round,” and it may have been 3D printed. Police also said one of the IDs was a fraudulent New Jersey ID matching the one the suspect used to check into a New York City hostel before the shooting.
  • Recovered documents: A multi-page, handwritten document was also recovered from the suspect when he was arrested, according to Kenny. It seemed that the man “has some ill will towards corporate America,” Kenny said. In the document, the suspect rails against the health care industry and suggested that violence is the answer, a police official who has seen the document told CNN. Two quotes in the document include: “These parasites had it coming” and “I do apologize for any strife and trauma, but it had to be done,” an official said.
  • Other key details: Police believe the suspect acted alone and they don’t think he was trying to flee the country, Kenny said.
  • What we know about the suspect: The man has had no prior arrests in New York, according to Kenny. He is 26 years old and was born in Maryland. His last known address was in Honolulu, Hawaii, Kenny said.

The guy is a loser and wasted his own privileged life and trashed any potential contributions he could have made in his field. His message about health-care coverage seems selfish at this point. And two other young men are suffering the violent loss of their father because of this pretty-boy killer.

He can still do that from prison. Instead of becoming a lawyer and training inmates to file wrongful convictions he can teach those who have a chance for parole to become a productive member of society and use their education to lower the recidivism rate. Something he'll probably never get.

I think he had shot it before and it had jammed on him. So he knew exactly what to do to clear it.

That’s super common with suppressors that aren’t designed for a particular firearm.

Am I the only one who thinks the first photos released don't look like him at all? Particularly the non-smiling one?

Anyone thinking this is not the same guy, this place just isn’t for you. Find another hobby.

You all are crazy posting 100 posts per minute!! Lol!!!
I can't keep up.....lol!!!!

Yes, that is the story being created about him. I think some of the storytellers and audience are going to be disappointed with their anti-hero in reality.

I respectfully disagree.
Based on social media, LM is an means to an end.
The message he sent - the reasons he did it, personally, are irrelevant - are being celebrated and cheered on.
The message that the killing of BT sent matter more on social media to the agreed upon hive mind.

Absolutely he can make contributions from prison and I'm assuming he will take on some educator role behind bars eventually. But his entire existence from here on out will be dictated by the system not himself. He couldn't cut it on his own, imo, and lashed out at the world so it would take over his life.

I realize not everyone will agree.

Trust me. People are gonna find him admirable!

Admirable? He's a coward who stalked and then shot an unarmed man in the back.

An old footage of Luigi Mangione delivering his valedictorian speech at Gilman School in 2016 has surfaced.

Yes, definitely agree here.

Could have misfed because it was simply a crappy product. A big barrel attachment would have done it no favours, though.

Yeah, but aiming center mass but clipping lower hamstring from 10-15t away doesn't scream professional very much either.
