BREAKING UPDATE… NYC assassin uspect Luigi Mangione got both his bachelor’s and master’s in computer science from the University of Pennsylvania. Speaks fluent Italian. Here are SEVERAL PHOTOS of him…

A Hermes tie. $300 or so. …

… oh my heavens this guy …

On his X account, one of his tweets references a google docs link to a paper he wrote in high school. I didn’t link it here because I don’t know if Google docs is allowed.

Just wish he didn't give off so much of an "All-American boy" vibe. Suburbanite, good looks, athletic, intelligent, etc. There's likely going to be a sizable personality cult built around him. And with those come platforms, not rehabilitation.

And I don't think they realize the wave of opposite narrative that is about to take over.

But, I do agree 100% that health insurance needs BIG CHANGES and I'm a supporter of coverage for all.

jmo
Oh I agree.

I've just seen loads of meme's and cheering for BT's death on TikTok, FB and Reddit.

On FB, UHC FB page even had to disable commenting and disable how you can see the number of laugh reacts on the announcement of BT's death.

Yea, he's not going to like prison. Probably the best work a lawyer can do for him (assuming he's guilty) is get him into a minimum-security facility like Butner or Eglin AFB.

I respectfully disagree.
Based on social media, LM is an means to an end.
The message he sent - the reasons he did it, personally, are irrelevant - are being celebrated and cheered on.
The message that the killing of BT sent matter more on social media to the agreed upon hive mind.
All JMO.
Lots of depravity on social media. Especially the celebration of the cold-blooded assassination of a fellow human being with two children and others who loved him. Just total depravity.

He comes from a very intelligent and successful family, and was trending that way himself. He’d probably have gone on to make a fortune in his field, and now he’ll spend the rest of his life in prison.

He seems to break the mold in a lot of ways (apparently not antisocial, no criminal record that we know about), seemingly well adjusted, very, very intelligent.

Seemingly a solid family background. No obvious signs of mental illness at this point.

Post in thread 'NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #6' NY - UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson fatally shot in Midtown. #6

Both of these show he comes from a very intelligent and successful family and... had upscale taste in clothing.

The age of 26 is interesting. My oldest is 26 and had to get her own health insurance this year. I've heard plenty of complaining about how much she now has to pay for her own plan and the deductible is so high. She still has to pay out of pocket for everything and it is really frustrating.

Maybe it is the suspect's first year of having to pay too. Obviously murder is not the answer. It is possible that now having to pay for his own health insurance (& realizing how expensive it is and how much isn't covered) could have been one of his motivations leading to this murder.

He comes from extreme wealth. If he needs insurance, he has it.

Yes, he may have had to pay for it from his funds.

Just FYI. If you go to Facebook and type in his name then scroll down there is an image of an xray of a spine with what appears to be pins in it.
I think it's possible that he feels he had a botched surgery. JMO
I agree. And while his parents are relatively well off (apparently, I don't know their net worth nor am I going to try and find it out), families can be really strained by the cost of such treatment (such as pin removal and some alternative installed). I know fairly well off people going through something very similar (their insurance is offering only a cheap alternative; the patient is a doctor, she knows what she wants - and it isn't this procedure; she's in a lot of pain; they are at a stalemate).

Hawaii's turnin' out some winners this last month.

What was this rich kid doing to help make things better for people negatively affected by the corporate America he's spent his whole life benefitting from? Did he try anything else before resorting to murder??

So how did living briefly in Hawaii give Hawaii the role of turning out "some winners." Are you referring to the HK case? Doesn't every state in the union have a few missing people who later turn up?

This man was born and raised in Maryland, attended university in Pennsylvania (which is also where he was captured). I have a skip tracer account and it looks as if his official residence is still in MD. All of his listed phone numbers have MD area codes, no 808. No records of a rental in Honolulu, possibly staying with friends or in an AirBnB?

He was still in PA in 2020, early summer. At some point before Honolulu, he was living in San Francisco.

What I'd like to know is where he was right before boarding that bus that originated in Atlanta. At any rate, his long length of time living on the East Coast explains his familiarity with NYC (and greyhound buses of PA).

IMO.

They might find it even more likable. Rich kid sacrifices everything to stand up for the less fortunate in society. Kind of a Bruce Wayne type.

We have to remember that social media is global, and is chocked full of nefarious actors hell bent on destabilizing our culture via any means it can. They go into high gear when its regarding divisive ideological issues.

It's fascinating to think that these two, potentially, had opportunity to theoretically work together on AI projects.

At time of killer's HS graduation, he planned to seek a degree in AI, focused on computer science and cognitive science at the U of Pennsylvania. (He later went on to get a masters in computer engineering). Exclusive | Suspect in fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson ID’d as Luigi Mangione, an ex-Ivy League student

And the murdered CEO had just announced that United had begun using AI in claim denials.

Well, I guess I wasn't far off.

Wow. Trying to catch up but what was the situation with his back issues? Just asking because my son recently had back surgery to repair his L5 (pars were broken on both sides due to sports) and my insurance company was giving us he11 about doing the surgery but I was my Kids biggest advocate and finally got it approved 18 hours before his surgery. He also had to have screws etc. So I was just curious.
Wow. So sorry about your son. I hope the screws in the back are working out well for him. Back issues are terrible - the back affects every move you make.

Kudos to you for getting the surgery approved. So many people who are sick, elderly, tired and in chronic pain have no one to advocate for them. To spend hours working through the hoops, the paperwork, the endless, circuitous phone trees, always bumping you from one department to another, then putting you on hold for hours.....

If I know what Tricia means when she talks about her "head exploding" regarding these threads, it's because I've dealt with insurance companies!

Not sure who the older gentleman is. I believe the younger person is LM. moo
I wondered if that was him. Looks like he was a bit more of a "husky" build back then. Kind of reminds me of Kohberger and his fitness transformation as he hit adulthood.

Hawaii court records are publicly searchable online. A quick search shows a criminal case for LM last December, plead no contest resulting in $100 fine.

CNN Live:

John Miller:

Based on current manifesto standards, it is a bit short.

Why does this document exist?

He went to an extraordinary length not to get caught, but may have been prepared to get caught.

Also possible he intended to strike again.

Phil Mudd (former FBI):

Emotional investment in this is tremendous. This "manifesto" may have helped him get over that emotional hurdle to validate what he was about to do. So is take his different from Miller's. Basically, these writings were for him.

Getting access to his phone and laptop will be very helpful. Can figure out about planning, weapon access, what he was thinking. Was he on social media groups talking about insurance companies? We're going to be learning a lot in the next several days.
