After days of wanting to hear his voice now I don't want to.

jmo

I understand, and for me, I'm not interested in his valedictorian speech. I'm just waiting to see him do his perp walk and spend the rest of his life behind bars. His crime wasn't just against Brian Thompson and the Thompson children, his crime was against society. That's why he's being prosecuted.

PICTURED: CEO slaying suspect Luigi Mangione

I know all the evidence is pointing to him but... those pictures from the taxi and hostel just don't look that much like him to me. In his online photos he's well built, in the photos police released the person is very slim.

Does he have a slim brother or cousin lol?

Image of the fake ID in the article.

I wonder why LE did not release it with the name redacted. It's Mangione's distinctive face! He would have been caught quicker.

Friday Fan (a fellow "Friday"!), you've pointed out what I've always thought was interesting about this killer: What are the chances that this whole thing would revolve so much around masks, considering that he has such a distinctive face, especially the eye/eyebrow structure and eyebrows. Such a strange little factoid, in my mind. Really, really, distinctive.

The New York Times reported that Mangione was carrying a handwritten manifesto that “criticized health-care companies for putting profits above care” when he was arrested on gun charges. Over on Goodreads, the Luigi Mangione account positively reviewed the work of another man with a penchant for manifestos: Ted Kaczynski, a.k.a. the Unabomber.

That pic is also on the banner on his X account.
That, along with a very ripped picture of him hiking. If that is a photo of his injury, I wouldn't be surprised if he was parasailing or doing some activity that caused it. He seems to be well off. I lived on Oahu for 4.5 years; and it is very expensive. I wonder why he lived there other than he really enjoyed the outdoor type of lifestyle.

He actually looks a lot like the person whose ID he apparently stole.

IMO

More details emerge of suspect's background

The BBC has heard from the University of Pennsylvania, the Ivy League attended by Mangione, which confirmed details that had appeared on his social media accounts.

According to a spokesperson from the university, Mangione received his bachelor of science in engineering with a major in computer science and graduated in May 2020.

The BBC has also learned additional employment details about Mangione and confirmed that he was employed as a head counselor in the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies programme in 2019.

Prior to college, Mangione graduated valedictorian - typically a student with the highest grades - from Gilman School, an elite all-boys private high school in Baltimore, Maryland.

Hawaii court records are publicly searchable online. A quick search shows a criminal case for LM last December, plead no contest resulting in $100 fine. It’s not obvious to me what the charge was.
It says in small print there Simple trespass. I will look into this. I lived in Hawaii and they are NOT tough on crime there. Trespassing would be no big deal. I'd be surprised there is even a citation or record of it.

Did police have the fake ID or just the name? I thought that I read on WS that the name was researched and there was no such person. So, I'm thinking that they didn't have his photo. That is LM in that photo. Is that how fake ID's are made--with your actual photo and just fake info? Is that LM's real birthday? 1998 would make him 26.

Simple Trespass. Loitering somewhere or got kicked out of a bar. Likely.

It was Simple Trespass per your image (see highlight I added below).

I think this is missing the point some. In a country where behemoth corporations, often entwined with governmental agencies, are increasingly taking over life, where else would someone eat? There are (virtually) no "mom and pop" type eateries anymore. And where does one find affordable, nutritious food? (Many, many people these days consider eating at McDonalds to be a splurge, by the way.)

Seriously, where, and what, does one eat that isn't tied to huge corporations? Whether your food is sourced as groceries from Wallmart, Kroger, etc., or wether your pay through the nose for "healthy" food at Sprouts, it's all shipped/trucked/packaged, etc., by major corporations.

There simply is no detaching onself from "Corporate America" in 2024.
The bus stopped at McDonald’s for lunch.

So, not one of his friends or family recognized his masked picture?
I can understand that. Seeing those first video stills and thinking, that looks a little like Luigi and dismissing the thought because that's out of character for him, he's in Hawaii, whatever. Tons of people on this board weren't sure if all the stills and photos were even of the same person, or what gender the person was. His hair and hairline really give it away. Maybe at some point his family members tried to contact him and failed, and perhaps they went to police at that point.

Fun fact: Guess what Gilman's mascot is?

A greyhound.

Okay so the non-smiling fake ID photo looks a bit more like the first released non-smiling photo. Glad that has been reconciled in my brain.

Well then, I guess we know it's an important picture for him.......

Would any of us have matched his face with the police photos if we saw him? I don’t think I would.

Just walking into McDonald's? No. Seeing him on a Greyhound, though?? Yes.
