If I saw him for a while, I might suspect the eyebrows and eyes. I might tell someone about my suspicions. If I knew that he was on the Greyhound bus, it would really raise eyebrows (pun intended).

Posters saying that someone or his parents most likely recognized him. I can tell you that my husband would not have known about this case had I not pointed it out. Many people just do not follow the news or may watch some cable news where it's not being reported. I can tell you that I never watch CNN but flipped to the channel when others said that was who was reporting this information.

Sadly, it seems to me that this was a privileged kid going to private school and Penn (State) to earn both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees. His family owns lots of corporate type entities even nursing homes. So, I don't understand his mindset. There's definitely something wrong with this kid.

JMO.
I looked at a family photo in an article about all of the grandkids being delivered at the same hospital. I couldn’t pick him out-at least ten of them had the same features.

This is very interesting

Worried loved ones reached out to the Ivy League graduate named as a person of interest in UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson’s killing days before the executive was executed outside of a New York City hotel.

One of Luigi Mangione’s loved ones shared a message on X to let him know that he cared about him and “missed him” on Nov. 25, a day after the shooter was believed to have arrived in Manhattan on a Greyhound bus.

“Thinking of you and prayers everyday in your name,” wrote user @Collin30923201P on Nov. 25. “Know you are missed and loved.”

Another suggested that loved ones had been concerned about his whereabouts the month prior.

“@PepMangione Hey, are you ok? Nobody has heard from you in months, and apparently your family is looking for you,” wrote X user @TheRealMandusa on Oct. 30 on the platform.

The police did not directly catch him, but it was their ceaseless work in tracking down the pictures of him that allowed the McDonald’s employee to recognize him.

I said this threads ago and maintain my stance—-there are nine million people living here, with countless tourists coming and going, as well as those who aren’t residents but come here to work.

The NYPD was able to single out the one thread out of 9,000,000 of us here and found the pictures of him.

I’ve lived in NYC all my life and wouldn’t be able to even identify most of the neighbors in my high-rise.

I totally agree. I think the police work was great.

Yes, credit goes to the hostel clerk, but it was police who found the image of him at Starbucks to release to the public and who traced him to the UWS. Police work moved this investigation.

And, yes, a big thanks to the hostel clerk and to the McDonalds tipster!! Everyday people doing their part when duty called - love to see that.

CNN: Preliminary arraignment at 6pm. He will appear in person.

Yes. They finally found that photo of him with his mask off, and that nailed him. Without that, it would have naturally taken much longer to find him. Genealogy may have been the only way.
Could have taken some time, but I bet there had to be at least a cousin or two who had opted in with their DNA.

Here is what we know so far:
  • Mangione was arrested at a McDonald's in Altoona, Pennsylvania - some 277 miles (445km) - away from New York City where Thompson was killed
  • He has been charged with firearm-related offenses, but has not been charged with the murder of Thompson. Police say their investigation is ongoing
  • Police were able to find him thanks to a tip from someone who spotted him, saying he matched the description of the person of interest in the case
  • Mangione was found with a "ghost gun" that police believe is likely 3D printed, as well as IDs - one of which had his real name and the other was fake - and a three-page handwritten document that police say outlined his "ill will towards corporate America"
  • The suspect has no prior criminal history. He was born in Maryland, police say, with his last known address being in Honolulu, Hawaii. He also has ties to San Francisco, California
  • He attended the University of Pennsylvania, an Ivy League school, where he studied computer science. He grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, where he attended a private, all-boys high school
  • UnitedHealthcare has since commented on his arrest, telling BBC News that the company hopes it will bring "some relief to Brian's family, friends and colleagues"

hopefully this is ok to say-
as a person who suffers with horrible chronic pain and lots of issues with insurance companies denying coverage for surgeries i actually need to keep living... i get it on some level. doesn't make it right. but no CEO should be making 10 million dollars a year especially while tons of people they're supposed to be helping are suffering immensely while accumulating thousands of dollars in medical debt for basic needs. our society is incredibly sick, and that's increasingly obvious. so many are very ill either mentally or physically, and increasingly worn down and miserable. i think this kid was trying to spark a change, and that makes sense to me. i'm not saying CEO deserved death or what happened to him, just that i can understand.

Especially outside the immediate area he was last spotted in. Kudos to the McDonald’s employee! Sure hope she receives the $60k reward!!!
In all fairness, the reward should be split between the employee and the elderly man who apparently spotted him. He is not mentioned as much. He may not have had a phone and alerted the employee.

Will he plead or go to trial? I can see it going either way based on current known facts. I wonder how many charges NY will put on him. I assume as many as possible.

Perp walk coming up.
It will be interesting to see if his head is up and smiling for the cameras or if he says anything.
