I do not believe he has ten siblings. it was a photo that contained many grandchildren, and I counted at least ten (siblings or cousins) that looked strikingly similar.
Walking into the court house -

He's in dark clothing, looks fine.
head up, looking around, not looking down

Skeptical that it's him.
Video was posted 56 minutes ago, unless the pokey didn't take away his phone.
The article references a Kill Switch where he might have kept rescheduling the video until he couldn’t.

Also, the account in the article was not his account. I don’t think.
The article mentions that LM (supposed) YouTube account was started in January.

Imagine if he used all that wealth and intelligence to work in a field that could actually have an impact on the things he was so against. Why not work to try to change what you don't like/agree with? Instead you ruin all these lives and nothing changes?

Maybe he thinks he will get better health care in prison?
I hate to say it...but he probably will get better healthcare in prison.

Twitter is still up. But Goodreads went private at the same time that FB went down.
Goodreads being owned by Amazon, it probably received the same message that Meta did…

so, his downfall was footage from Starbucks and getting his Golden Arches on. what a ding dong.

and why in the WORLD would he show the fake ID that he used at the hostel? did he only have that one? not his real one? could he have just said, I lost it?

not the mastermind!

Interesting it seems LM dropped off the radar sometime in the last year. What was going on with him?
Personally, I think depression set in during this period. I think he was unhappy with his job(s) and was unable find a clear direction in his life. Couple that with the possibility of his dealing with chronic pain and the anger he may felt having to rely on his family for his health care. He may also have felt pressure to live up to his family's grand expectations of him considering the amount of money they spent on his education, so he may have felt like a failure.

Feeling chronically angry and bitter can cause poor judgment and impulsive actions, but no excuses here...he needs to man up and take full responsibility. I'm hoping he will avoid dragging his family through a lengthy trial and just enter a guilty plea.

I hope this goes to trial so we can understand everything behind this incident, and I hope he doesn't have to spend his life behind bars.

Despite romantic narratives about this guy, there is no way a judge will give him a light sentence after killing a man on a city sidewalk in cold blood.

There is nothing about our judicial system that will compare Luigi's, Brian's, and countless patients lives against each other to decide what is a fair judgement. That's not how it works. Luigi's actions will be weighed against the laws he broke, the most serious laws on the books, and he will judged on that, as are all defendants.

I shudder to think about how many love letters are going to come pouring in for Luigi Mangione.

I’m not talking about those who support his action; I mean the kind of women who fall in love with murderers and correspond with them, try to meet them and sometimes marry them in prison.

We see this all the time and here’s a young, intelligent, wealthy and good-looking man.

Ugh.

TrueCar confirms suspect is a former employee

TrueCar, a digital retailing website for new and used cars, has confirmed to the BBC that Luigi Mangione was an employee of their company.

"While we generally don't comment on personnel matters, we can confirm that Luigi Mangione has not been an employee of our company since 2023," a spokesperson says in a statement.

According to a Linkedin profile with the same name as the suspect, Mangione worked at TrueCar as a data engineer.

Being a Canadian it's difficult for me to wrap my head around the labyrinthal processes that American have to go through sometimes to get covered for health care. The whole pre-existing condition and denial of coverage seems so cruel and cold. So I'm wondering if LM reaching his 26th birthday found that a condition he may have had relating to his spine that was previously covered under his parents' plan was now a pre-existing one with a new application for coverage.
(Respectfully snipped and bolded) Ooh I think you might have a really good point about his age (26) being significant. That’s when we get kicked off our parents’ plans here in the US for anyone who didn’t know…

Can’t make sense of Altoona, however, accessed via Greyhound only on the Philly-Pitt milk run (several more stops, 4 hours longer).
My hunch; made it to Philly on escape day and holed-up to decompress, prep and steel resolve for getaway.
Instead, perhaps he had a further breakdown. Plan, fantasize all you want but after that trigger is pulled it becomes real and LM could not prep for that. After 3-4 days of torment, seems to have hopped on a bus nilly-willy, hoping to get caught.

"If you see this, I'm already under arrest," said a caption in the silent 84-second clip posted by the account @PepMangione, which matches other social handles that appear to be those of Luigi Mangione, the man arrested on Monday. The message was accompanied by a countdown from 60 seconds. Near the end of the video, the message, "Soon..." appeared at the bottom right of a black screen. A second caption appeared at the end of the video, saying, "All is scheduled, be patient. Bye for now."
This sounds ominous. What has he scheduled?

Asking honestly, what do we do about the health insurance industry? How to we stop the profiteering? What DO we do if we can’t afford electricity? Murdering individuals is not the way, of course, but what is? I’m just at a loss.

It's starting to look like he's been on a downward spiral for the past few years.
Only an opinion!

Will get life but could get out after 10-15 years for good behavior. It really depends on what he does with his life in prison.

He was reading books about surviving back pain. The x-ray on his profile looks to be a male of his age and size. He has quite a bit about pain and healthcare on his want to read, including quite a few more books about surviving spinal injury.

I would bet my bottom dollar that he had back surgery.

Just a guess. IMO.

The first sign that something was amiss at UnitedHealth Group Inc.’s investor day was when Brian Thompson didn’t show up to his early morning hair and makeup appointment…

It took a few minutes for the 8 a.m. event to begin, after some 275 people showed up. It’s unclear why they didn’t start on time. But as Witty, the company’s CEO, began his opening remarks, a handful of executives were alerted of a security emergency. They stepped away from the event. They were told Thompson had been killed outside of the hotel that morning.

As the investor day presentations continued, the small group of company executives in the know were questioned by police. The executives immediately started trying to reach Thompson’s family. They wanted to tell his wife and kids before the media got a hold of the story.

Around 9 a.m., Witty cut the investor day short. “Some of you may know we’re dealing with a very serious medical situation with one of our team members,” he said. “And as a result, I’m afraid we’re going to have to bring to a close the event today, which I apologize for.” Thompson had been dead for two hours...

Does anyone know how he suffered the spine energy? He seems really energetic and agile getting around town in a very quick manner.

JMO.
Doesn’t take a lot of effort to ride an electric bike if you’re not pedaling

Because he felt strongly enough about the injustice and wealth inequality in american society that he decided to act
Which...very likely many of us may feel the same way when denied care or coverage from our insurance companies. Although, we would never kill the CEO over it; but would say how much our health insurance "sucks" to family and friends. Guilty as written...
