I don't understand why he handed over the same fake ID that was used in NY, so stupid.

From the very beginning most people across the internet, from what I saw, spoke of this guy like he was some Bond villian - charming and unusually intelligent. It seems to have taken on a life of its own in regards to assumptions about his behavior.

Could just be a relatively smart kid who kept his cool gunning someone down and didn't see past the end of his nose after that.

Wow thank you!

I had no idea this existed, and as a news junkie who has no television and relies only on internet news, this will come in very handy during all sorts of breaking news situations. Thanks so much for posting it!

It was rainy and in the 40s in Altoona this morning.
Can't believe all this has happened.

The Altoona officers were very calm and impressive. Amazing.

How nerve wracking for them, to sense that this guy sitting in front of them was the subject of a multi-state manhunt!

Way to go, Thank you, Altoona PD for your professionalism and skills!

The one we see on video?
Did they? I don’t know. I was just going off of what another person said… what they said did not include murder.

Yea, I just googled it and read the news report. No murder charges.

The friend, RJ, is being interviewed on CNN is asked whether Mangione had written privately about health care or capitalism.

The friend said that he talked about social issues and how to improve the world, in conversations that were “natural” if you were inquisitive, he says.

He never had a conversation where Mangione talked about guns or violence, the friend says.

It was obvious this guy didn’t want to say anything bad about Luigi. I don’t blame him.

Cryptic YouTube video from account 'linked' to Luigi Mangione issues chilling warning

An unconfirmed YouTube account using the alleged shooters name and photo posted an eerie message hours after his arrest.

'If you see this, I'm already under arrest,' the silent 84 second clip is captioned.

The video displayed a 60 second countdown then jumped to screen that said,'Soon... Dec 11th.'

'All is scheduled, be patient. Bye for now,' stated the final message displayed on the screen.

I wonder what in the world he had planned for 12/11? Whatever it is I hope LE figures it out AND let's the public know! Curious minds wanta know!

and one of the officers was a newbie, 6 months on the job.

LE just said in the presser that the customer first noticed the resemblance and asked the employee if she thought so as well.

I hope they both get the reward but I would split it 60/40 for the customer and then the employee.

I'm suprised that nobody on the bus thought it was him with those eye brows. But a stop at McDonalds and 2 people see it? IMO

Mangione, 26, suffered chronic back pain from an apparent pinched nerve, said R.J. Martin, Surfbreak’s founder. His friends stopped hearing from him this summer.
Mangione was committed to personal development through reading and working out. He got around Oahu by bicycle, and even after he moved out of Surfbreak he would walk with Wexler from Magic Island to Surfbreak, located in the penthouse of a building near the Hawaii Convention Center.

Martin recalled the problem, which had lingered for years, was a misaligned vertebrae that would pinch Mangione’s spinal cord.

"He went radio silent in June or July,” Martin said.

These are just a few excerpts. Much more at link.

A jury could decide not to convict him even if they find he committed the crime. This is jury nullification. There are no ramifications for the jury. It is extremely rare. As you can imagine if a judge thinks it’s happening they’re ticked.

As for mitigation, the jury would be determining if he committed the crime, not sentencing him after guilty. So up to the judge.

No death penalty in ny.
Not gonna happen.

Cnn live saying the recovered 3D gun Is not the reported murder gun (Veterinarian gun ) from atf expert on air.
I heard that too, he doesn't think it's the gun. Could that be why LM didn't seem worried about it? Maybe he had several weapons, got rid of the one used in the murder and had this one for his next operation. This actually makes sense to me, we've all been wondering why he didn't get rid of the weapon.

I’m curious how he supported himself. If he hadn’t worked for quite a while, did he have health insurance? Did he withdraw money regularly from a savings account that was not in any way tied to his family? Did he have his own phone plan and receive mail somewhere-where was he living? I am reading that family was trying to track him down-what does that mean? He had to have some kind of trail, and I imagine they had the means if they were concerned.

There are some unfortunate possible future outcomes which I'm certain this murderer did not consider -
1. Sleeping in a jail/prison with a prior back injury/surgery will NOT be comfortable AT ALL (and access to medical care in prison, while it should be provided appropriately, isn't always)

2. Sadly, the budget to pay for security for CEOS at major corporation will increase, and those costs have to be absorbed somewhere.

He did have a job until 2023. He also had the injury in 2023 according to a friend. And since then he isolated himself from friends, and family, kind of went off grid. Friends were worried sent messages, and family tried to get in touch with him.
I have steel rods in my lower back and my neck. The pain, alone, can make you not want any contact with others.

From what we've heard about the family, he may well have been the type to get access to a large trust fund upon college graduation, or age 25, etc.
