I’m curious how he supported himself. If he hadn’t worked for quite a while, did he have health insurance? Did he withdraw money regularly from a savings account that was not in any way tied to his family? Did he have his own phone plan and receive mail somewhere-where was he living? I am reading that family was trying to track him down-what does that mean? He had to have some kind of trail, and I imagine they had the means if they were concerned.

I think he has a trust fund from his grandparents. JMO

If his Twitter account is still up, you can see that he just stopped posting/reposting/engaging, sometime in June. This coincides with the reports that he dropped off the map in the summer.

I'm suprised that nobody on the bus thought it was him with those eye brows. But a stop at McDonalds and 2 people see it? IMO

I have not ridden Greyhound in over 45 years. During that ride, I noticed most of the people on my ride from Daytona to Tallahassee appeared to have been recently released from prison or drunk.

I thought of taking Greyhound for a trip recently, but when I read that toilets didn't work on a trip that was going through some pretty barren areas, I said, "No thanks". The reviews were horrible.

I remember I sent my son on the bus when I didn't want him driving 500 miles. Guys would proposition him for drugs. I think it's a pretty motley crew on the bus. I don't think passengers are much "in tune" to "true crime" BOLO etc.

I'm curious though, why he might not have put some of his $8000 + dollars, perhaps with help from family, towards surgery. Isn't his family wealthy?

If the x-ray with pins in the lower back from his Twitter is anything to go on, he did have surgery. JMO

10 days to meticulously prepare for a <10 minute hit job with virtually no disguise and leaving childish cultural clues. With a 5 day getaway span, with not getting away.

I’d say the fact that he kept the gun, and was traveling with it and a manifesto is a strong indicator of continuing whatever mission he thought he was on.

According to this article, his family hadn't seen him for months and were searching for him <modsnip: Political affiliation has no bearing in this discussion>, his family wasn't watching the manhunt on TV.
They didn't recognize him in the news?

Probably already had a significant inheritance or trust account given the family wealth.

I don't think he struggled to pay for surgery or anything, because as you say, he has a wealthy family and clearly has access to money himself. I think it's based in part on principle.

According to that article, he did have surgery after Hawaii. But consequently did not keep touch with the Hawaii group.
I wonder if the surgery exacerbated his condition.

It sounds like his living expenses were relatively low & given his credentials, his salary may have allowed him to save money. Wealthy family - he may or may not have a trust fund that he could tap into at 26. Some wealthy families expect their offspring to be independent once college is completed. Varies greatly. I would also say if your family is wealthy, it doesn’t necessarily mean you are “spoilt” or you are personally wealthy. JMO
