This might not mean anything really. This would seem to me to be an industry that gets a lot of criticism and citations. Families of residents are probably hard to please and dealing with high stress due to their loved ones' health issues and possible guilt over having to place them in a home... possibly some misplaced blame on the home for issues out of their control. And it's highly regulated with frequent inspections, etc., where even small infractions might earn them a citation.

I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if pretty much all nursing homes had a history of complaints and bad reviews of some kind. It would matter more if this family's homes had more than average, I guess. But I don't think we know that they do.

Whether it's accurate or not, LM's actions will bring an onslaught of scrutiny to the family. He's a self-appointed warrior for fairness, yet his actions seem unfair to his family.

"Sherpa" seems to be a kinda sound-alike to "shearling," the original shearing from sheep or lamb, likely dreamed up by Don Draper and his Madmen cronies.

Anyone notice how, in NY Post & Daily Mail stories, any new product mentioned is "flying off the shelves," never sitting & collecting dust?

Re sherpa, neither of those jackets have "sherpa" linings, they'd never sell in Alaska for more than chilly fall days. Sherpa linings, are thick. They look sheared.

Important to note that to be extradited from Pennsylvannia to New York, he has to be formally charged with a crime in the state of New York. From a really good post upstream, I recall the state has 2 weeks to get the charges laid, so I'm happy to see NY is not wasting any time on getting charges by Grand Jury laid and facilitating his extradition.

Looks like he may be spending Christmas in Pennsylvania as a minor celebrity in a small jail. That is probably the best thing he should be looking for at this point.

Things will change quite a bit when he is incarcerated in New York and he is up with the jail's criminal hierarchy. His rich kid- private school - Hawaii surfing background will not serve him well.

No, but i have constant strong supportive loved ones in my everyday life. Had I not, I cant say that I wouldn't have lost my mind and done something totally crazy that would have the world saying "and one day, she just went berzerk". There was a time I feared one of my medical providers, fighting an unjust insurance system, might also. Enough pressure and just about everyone has their breaking point. I imagine there are more than a few out there that are very near that point even as we have this conversation.

Add in debilitating chronic pain, being forced to die a long excruciating needless death or just watching a loved one do so, add some budding mental illness as one goes crazy with it all, pull off the guardrails of daily companionship, add some psychedelics, maybe some brain eating pathogens, extreme high glutamate levels from food sources and overthinking, ruminating thoughts, with no external or internal brakes, and you have a petri dish for something just like this.

Heck, Harvey Milks murderer was acquitted of his charges via the twinkie defense and I'm old enough to remember that. Few followed that case closely enough to really connect those dots. And some folks just aren't willing to think enough to connect any dots at all so they just go on walking around in a selfmade cloud of thoughtlessness.

Understand, I'm not supporting Luigi's actions. I am simply pointing out that the laws of physics are that for every action there is a reaction and for every cause there is an effect. Its just reality. And our reality is that our health insurance system has become such that it doesn't provide optimum health care and robs many many people of their lives, for no reason other than to line some pockets with higher and higher profits.

And then there are people who harbor murderous thoughts and

They come up with rationalization for what they did-- but nowadays

Robin Hood is more a legend than a real person. However, LM wouldn't be the first criminal to reach folk hero status in the US. Billy the Kid and Jesse James, murderers both, have reach that pinnacle. Even Bonnie and Clyde had sympathizers during the Depression as well as Al Capone. There's been numerous movies made of these people and the public can't get enough. In many ways they are no different than LM because large swaths of the population secretly admire someone who's escapades, deadly or not, are putting it to 'the man'. Having a proxy inflicting pain on nameless corporate executives who have undercut their lives is like living vicariously through them. You don't have to like it or agree with it but to ignore it can be at your own peril. 'Let them eat cake' comes to mind.

the constitution does say that yes, but has the "general welfare of all men" been considered in the business of healthcare? my opinion, no; but ultimately, healthcare should be a human right. Being the richest country in the world, but the 44th best in medical care is not even close to where we should be. Killing any person is unacceptable. But If you have ever been in a battle with an insurance company just to be able to try to live, you will understand his mindset during the attack. Nothing may change, but the conversation surrounding health insurance is happening. Which is more than we can say since society's big fight with Purdue Pharma. It's a tragedy no matter which way you look at it.

RSBM - Then, IMO, he bought the receiver illegally. The receiver is the serialized part of a gun and in order to legally purchase one, the buyer needs to pass a background check. Even purchasing a receiver legally online, you cannot have it shipped to your home. It has to be shipped from the seller to a FFL (Federal Firearms Licensed) dealer.

I thought he (LM) said US is 44th in life expectancy not best in medical care?? Which are two different things. Am I mistaken?

Cameras caught him. Fingerprints. DNA (eventually). That cell phone probably will. His own writings. Ballistics. The fact that he still had the gun and silencer on him. And of course, that infamous fake ID.

This is the very definition of a slam dunk cause, even if a disturbed bunch of creeps are cheering on the vigilante killer of a father of two.

Makes sense for LE and everyone to be alert. People are angry. About A Lot.
This craven act by the killer has tapped in and opened up the flood gates for many imo.
So so many people sharing their horror stories and very real anguish and anger. So in some respects that could be cathartic for people to open up and know they are not alone even if it’s just reading others stories.
On the other hand it could create/ spawn the violence LE refers to.
Seems like we could use a voice of reason/ adult in the room. I’m just not sure who that is anymore.

It’s confusing to me when he would have been in SF. In 2023 he was in Hawaii and then allegedly went back to the east coast for surgery, went back to Hawaii, was in Japan and Thailand earlier this year. So did he head to SF afterwards when he dropped off the face of the earth?
