LUIGI: Mangione will be getting a federal evidentiary hearing after all, albeit a brief one.Only one Altoona cop — with expertise on securing personal property — will be permitted to testify.Last week, Judge Garnett said she didn’t think a hearing would be necessary.

Yeah, I'd call it fandom the way they are dressed. They look like groupies.
How do the supporters look like groupies?

So the woman claiming to be him in her sign, is saying that she's a murderer too then???
My guess is that Luigi Mangione is seen as a "symbol" against health insurance companies. Maybe the person with the sign had a negative experience with health insurance. I am assuming this sign is meant symbolically and not literally.

Mangione remains held at MDC Brooklyn with the next federal hearing set for January 30, 2026, at 11 a.m.

In his state case, Judge Gregory Carro is expected to make an evidentiary ruling by May 2025.

Did you notice the weird all bright green outfits that both the men and women were wearing??? Certainly looks like a fan club or cultish to me...

I did notice that some supporters have dressed in green or in costume as Luigi from the Super Mario Brothers video games. It's not unusual to see people dressed up in costumes at a protest or an event around a cause, akin to having a sign with a pun or silly phrase on it. To me "groupies" are people that wait to meet rock stars. When I think of "cults" it is something very different than supporters wearing silly costumes or color-coordinated outfits.

IMHO

I can say I am very familiar with protests in big cities in Australia. In my experience, only individuals may dress up in a silly way, not a whole group of people doing the same thing. Whether that behaviour invokes impression of groupies or cults etc is up to the observer.

I can't remember the last case I followed where the supporters of the defendant dressed up as a famous character with his name, although personally I find it fitting for Luigi. He is playing the role of a major cartoon character here perfectly IMO.

if the bag is ruled to be inadmissable i dont see how the case could continue without they dont really have any evidence that would convict him

That proves he was in the same city as the victim; you can hardly convict him on that
