IMO, the motive is going to be bigger and go deeper than a single denied claim or patient. Professional hit hired by connected people with a vested interest in seeing him dead.

If, as it increasingly appears, this was a professional hit, the perpetrator probably has no fingerprints or DNA on file. He probably used a burner phone paid for with a fake credit card, and used a stolen e-bike (or at least paid with a stolen card). This person entered Central Park wearing all black with a backpack and blue mask, but likely walked out dressed completely different. The gun was probably stolen and is now at the bottom of the East River or Hudson river. If seen leaving Central Park, he probably has a generic non-threatening appearance.

DNA evidence, fingerprints, and a travel history may be useful in an eventual trial, but are likely not going to be useful in identifying this individual. For all we know, this person may have taken a cab from central park to one of the three main airports and be out of the country by now.

I had originally thought the murderer was a disgruntled person mad at the company. But I would expect that sort of person to shoot the victim not face-to-face, not from behind. I also would not expect a silencer to be used.

"Thompson’s wife, Paulette Thompson, told NBC News that the executive told her 'there were some people that had been threatening him.' She said she didn't have details, but suggested they may have involved issues with insurance coverage.''

Odd. Wouldn't LE have told her just to say "no comment?"

I would think family members would have details, since they could be at risk.

I find the comment from the wife a bit... odd.

Then again, everyone reacts in different ways.

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was accused of insider trading and fraud before he was assassinated on Wednesday i

In May, the City of Hollywood Firefighters’ Pension Fund initiated a complaint against Thompson and other executives, accusing the CEO of failing to tell investors about the federal probe before he unloaded over 31 percent of his stock, taking in $15.1 million in proceeds.

In legal documents, the fund said Thompson and other company execs sold over $117 million worth of UnitedHealth common stock during the four-month period when insiders knew about the federal antitrust investigation but the public did not.

The California Public Employees’ Retirement System, America's largest state public pension fund, then joined that complaint in October and filed an amendment seeking a jury trial against the UnitedHealth execs including Thompson.

Certainly, could be motive?
If so, its not justified, though.
Not blaming those involved in filed complaint... Just know that people dont want their financials messed with ...jmo

Oh these are good shots! Wondering where they were taken...
My first thought was a restaurant or cafe of sorts, maybe. It looks like he's standing at a counter and there is seating behind him - moo

This is why I am wondering about the statement "Well Planned" police are using.

May have dropped his phone, may have paid for an e bike....

I am not seeing it and I expect him to be in custody later today.
I hope you're right about him being in custody later today.
This person needs to be apprehended, as we all know. Makes you wonder if he's done this before. jmo

RSBM - this is one of the reasons they could not catch LISK - he called from midtown manhattan and they were not able to trace the cell signal due to how busy it is in that area all the time.

CitiBike tracking seems like a promising lead as I'm pretty sure you need an app to unlock the bike, unless he stole it from a bystander who had unlocked it under their own account.

Didn't the police say in the presser that a phone was recovered in the alley? Might be easier to locate this guy than we think.
My hunch the bike was stolen and likely not today but previously. Citibike racks are everywhere in the city. And I think it was dumped as soon as he got to a good spot in the park to walk away from it.

Such clear pictures! Now I am convinced that this was a hit ordered by someone in his inner circle (personal or business). Why else would they order the hit to be done in NYC with so many cameras and people around instead of in his home turf of Minnesota where you have neither? This was a lot riskier to carry off in NYC. Seems like they were trying to make it seem like a random shooting or some disgruntled mentally ill person or something.

Pretty good pictures. He will be caught soon, I hope.
Yes, I was waiting for images like this, and I think there will be more.

I’d be very surprised if we’re still talking about a manhunt at this time tomorrow.

Wide set eyes, straight nose....I wonder if they can enhance? But probably not enough for identifying features.
