That's definitely a man IMO. I hope he's caught soon, those are pretty good pictures and like someone else said his nose looks distinctive.

How did he pay?

It would be hilarious if he paid with a card.
Thinking the same thing- gave his name for the order, now printed on the side of his cup

If he drank his coffee there, he would have to remove the mask. Just maybe an employee noticed more of his face...clean shaven, beard?

If he was REALLY smart, stolen card, and fake name....set up a red herring.

It’s almost so sloppy that if contract, perhaps intentional? Could be more than change of clothes in the bag—beard, wig etc. enough to make cctv search hard. If non contract, maybe just sloppy

I think they’d need more of the face in order to do that. It’s also not the clearest image.
What do you think: Male or female? I was waiting for an extramarital affair (by him or the wife) to be revealed?? I still don't think that it is a disgruntled insurance person.

Also, someone asked if that was the person's "real" nose. That got me to wondering. It would be easy to put something on the end of it.

This is the first time I seen a description of the suspect that includes an estimated height. Apologies if it has already been posted.

The gunman is described as 6'1" with a tall, thin build, wearing a black jacket, black hat, black ski mask, and black backpack.

I realize your quote is exactly what the article said. But it just doesn't look like a black backpack to me.

Hoping they get his fingerprints from Starbucks. Someone knows who this person is... If BT getting threats prior to his murder, then killer most likely expressed to someone his anger towards BT or UnitedHealthcare... of course, jmo

Most news sources reported grey backpack. :)

They've already said he was a male, and the images now make that clear. I don't think this is the type of scenario you're envisioning, even though we have seen that quite a bit recently. I say that because I'd fully expect a murder like that to occur close to home (geographically). Whatever the motive, I think the connection between the victim and the killer was much more distant.

Could the nose be fake (something added to the tip of it)?

I suppose if the assassin were a true evil genius, he could deliberately be flouting a fake face?

This shooting really reminds me of the Sky Atlantic TV series the day of the jackel!

My thought exactly. If contract, getting seen at Starbucks was intentional. If intentional, likely to establish false identifiers.

Or non contract and just needed caffeine!

UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who lives in Minnesota, was fatally shot in New York City on Wednesday morning and police broke down the timeline of events leading up to and immediately following the "brazen, targeted attack."

Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny shared a timeline of events that led to the fatal shooting of Thompson on Wednesday morning in New York City.

Here's what we know. [timeline at link]

I of course have no idea other than it looks intentional and very well planned in the sense that the guy had a gun with a silencer and was deliberate in killing his victim. I mean, he first shot him in the leg.

There is no way that I could, as a Nervous Nellie, even come close to that being my first shot. I would have to go for the body because it is larger. Also, the kiler did not run from the scene. He seemed pretty darned calm, even with the gun jamming.

I am wrong quite a bit, but I think that it is someone known to him, who has been planning this for a while. I guess that I am drawing from my own (non) experience. I could never intentionally kill anyone unless it was self-defense to protect a loved one or myself. Even if a family member died, I would choose to go through the court system, not murder someone outright.

Plus, why HIM? He's not the only CEO, and there are lots of people in the UHC chain.

If they don’t catch him soon, we will know it was a contract and trying to setup a fake identity by being seen at Starbucks with prosthetics.

So, according to this article somewhere before 6:44 am, the gunman strolls into the Starbucks and is seen on video.
Still manages to arrive across the street and at the future scene of the crime 5 minutes before Thompson, who arrived at 6:44 am.

The conference wasn't scheduled to start until 8 am.

How did the gunman know that Thompson was planning on arriving at the hotel early to practice his speech and manage to not only be there but beat him there by 5 minutes?

Starbucks. No doubt police are talking to the employees. Maybe they have a better description...voice, eye color, mannerisms, accent etc.
And Credit Card, because no one pays in cash anymore!

Did I read correctly that the first shot was to the leg? If so, that seems odd??
