This tragedy seems to be breaking news:

I have never believed once that he was not guilty. However, looking back to when he was arrested and allegedly asked "who else has been arrested?" gives me more of the creeps now. That was so rehearsed, methodical, so cold, so calculated. He wanted a phrase attached to him that would insinuate his innocence and that of someone else being involved.

It will be very interesting to hear what he has to say tomorrow. I would bet he has rehearsed it similar to the arrest statement.

Hopefully he will have to allocate, but I doubt very much he will express any sort of remorse.

BBM

Is BK required to say anything at all other than he is guilty of all counts during the hearing?

I assume that any gag orders attached to this case will be lifted as soon as the court accepts the plea deal tomorrow? If true, I bet the weekend shows, Dateline, 20/20, 48 Hours, will all be clamoring to be the first to bring us new information, interviews with people who would be witnesses, etc. How long will it take to get information with FOIA requests?

We got the watts stuff two weeks later.

This investigation was miles bigger than that, and I can’t imagine how many redactions there will be (countless innocent people investigated).

We’ll get it, but it’s not going to be that fast.

Bbm.
One would hope ?
Sorry for the two families who oppose.
The loss has to be so agonizing, affecting every day and each breath that they take.
They have a life sentence as well. :mad:

Still think this is better than taking a chance on a jury who could be fickle.
What do you all think ?
Imo.

Had to screenshot this from the last thread because I always fumble the carryover:

@minazoe

IMO the only time we glimpsed the real, unadorned Bryan was in his thumbs-up selfie; so proud and satiated after the murders.

All the rest of what we’ve seen has been camouflage, whether talking to the cops in the three times he’s been pulled over, (those that we saw) or in court with his mouthpiece doing the talking and him with his lack of affect expression.

<modsnip>

JM angry opinion.

I never supported the death penalty until I started following true crime in my own obsessive way.

Like many of you here, I believe BK richly deserves to die for his unconscionable acts, and I viscerally understand the Goncalves family’s need for vengeance.

But the death penalty goes against my values. I try to avoid causing any sentient creature harm, I believe in the power of repentance and forgiveness.

So I’m torn. But the most salient “pro” for the existence of the death penalty is this:

Bryan Kohberger would NEVER have admitted what he did had he not been threatened with the firing squad.

IMO

Nothing confirmed, but it appears that Kohberger will not have to allocute.

Our only hope may be that he sat down prior to the deal being agreed to and answered questions.
From what I am reading online about plea agreements, it appears that BK would have had to sign that he gave up his constitutional right to remain silent if part of the plea agreement included the requirement that he answer questions about the crime, etc.

If that wasn't part of the plea agreement, then if the judge adds this requirement then BK would, I assume, have to sign an agreement that he agrees to give up his constitutional right to remain silent on that matter.

JMO from what I have been reading online about the nature of plea agreements in criminal cases.

Part of the plea deal better have included him at least sitting down a giving the details and answering every question investigators have for him. If not, the prosecution gets zero out of the deal and in my opinion they were holding every card.
I understand he may not allocute in open court, but I expect a full confession.
I also expect him to have to sit and listen to victim impact statement though the people affected haven’t got much time to put this together.

You just never know with juries-- there is a guy named Durst (can't recall first name)- he murdered and actually dismembered a man and the jury acquitted him. go figure. Then there is Casey Anthony and there are many many more where you are sure the defendant is guilty but the jury acquits.
